Tony Woods's POV

“Can someone please say something already? Don't fucking sit here and do nothing while I die in silence.

Have you two known each other before?” I lost my cool and yelled at them.

The silent treatment was beginning to mess with my head.

They made it seem like I was insane when none of them responded to my question

Marcus patted me on the shoulder, pleading for me to stay calm, but I ignored him.

Instead, his plea fuelled my frustration. I didn't know when I screamed at him.

“Don't you dare tell me to stay calm, Marcus? Have you lost your mind?

Do I need to remind you what's at stake here?”

Marcus sighed and looked away.

He knew that he screwed up.

Deep down, he wanted to apologize to me, but he wasn't certain if I was going to accept the apology.

I let out a deep breath and forced myself to stay calm.

I tried all I could not to speak further or act. I didn't trust my guts.

I was scared that I might do something stupid to hurt someone, which would, of course, lead to my arrest rather than Sean's.

“Over to you, officer, have you met Sean before? You seemed surprised when you caught a glimpse of his face,” I redirected my question back to the officer.

I figured he was the only one who could provide the response I needed.

Just as he was about to spill the beans, Sean intercepted him with an ocean of tears. “Please don't speak. That might be the end of me,”

Oblivious to Sean, in the process of trying to save his ass, he accidentally shot himself in the leg.

His reactions lately strongly indicated that he wasn't just Angela's accomplice

His attitude forced me to dig deep into the matter as though my life depended on it.

I immediately exchanged seated positions with Marcus just to get closer to the officer.

I figured that getting closer to the officer would give me an edge to force the truth from his mouth should he be reluctant to speak up.

“I don't want to do something I'll regret, officer. Just tell me what I need to know and save us from these long talks,” I warned the officer.

This time, I deployed a different kind of tone just to make it clear to him that I wasn't kidding around

At every attempt to speak, Sean continued to cause a major distraction with his tears which might not have been real

Somehow, he was aware of the officer's weakness and was able to capitalize on it.

“I'm sorry, Sean.

I just have to do this.

I warned you after the last crime, and you gave me your word.

Here we are again,”

The officer told Sean

He had yet to hit the nail on the head, but I could already discern the direction he was heading.

“I swear, I've changed.

I guess my past came to haunt me,” Sean narrated.

He was trying his best to hide the truth from me.

I got tired of watching their performance and was forced to step in.

“Enough!” With a commanding tone, I forced them into a halt.

Marcus couldn't speak further, not after I had previously yelled at him.

He just sat beside me like a dummy and watched the drama unfold because he trusted I was going to do a good job in handling the case.

“I'm going to ask y'all for the last time, what was Sean's crime?” I asked nicely.

Despite my use of a low tone, traces of rage could still be found in my facial expressions.

“Sean is a murderer and an ex-convict,” the officer divulged after the long wait.

He spoke so fast as though he were under duress.

If he wasn't next to me, I would have sworn that he had a gun pointed at his head when he launched the nuclear weapon.

I gulped my saliva as I asked the officer, “What did you just say? Please tell me this is a Joke,”

I widened my ears to avoid missing out on any improvement the officer wanted to divulge

Facing the ground in shame, the officer buttressed. “You heard me.

He accidentally hit a stranger with his car and got arrested.

Unfortunately for him, the stranger died,”

“He knocked someone with his car,” that particular confession rang a bell in my ear.

I could recall Sean confessing to committing a similar crime, which resulted in the blackmail by Angela.

I sealed my lips and kept my thoughts to myself.

I was willing to let the officer confirm my suspicion before jumping to conclusions.

“Proceed!”

I authorized the officer.

After a deep pause, I continued,” Tell me everything I need to know.

Don't leave no stone unturned because I'm going to find out. How did I evade arrest?”

“One Mrs. Angela Woods came to his rescue. She bailed him out with the assurance won't be found wanting by the law ever again,” the officer finally narrated.

At the mention of Angela, my wife, I died a thousand times. I didn't know how it happened, but I certainly wasn't myself anymore

Could this be a dream or a reality?”

I asked from inside. I didn't want to let out the voice because I was scared that I might sound dumb to everyone.

I felt something departing from my body and I could tell it was my soul leaving me.

I suddenly became deaf and dumb.

It took me a while to realize where I was after the officer waved at me.

“Is anything the matter?

Is there something we should know?

Does the name Angela ring a bell in your ear?” The officer asked.

It was just a simple question, yet it became too difficult for me to respond.

How do I admit that Angela is my wife despite all her atrocious acts? It's going to be a slap to my face.

For the past seven years, Angela and I lived together as a couple, and I never, for once, noticed her evil traits.

I can't imagine how stupid I was to think that I was married to an angel.

How I didn't end up dead over the last seven years remains a mystery.

She could have poisoned me to death and take over my empire.

Pathetic stuff!

Tony Woods's POVThat was the second time Marcus has amazed me in the space of ten minutes. If he wasn't my friend, I would have doubted that he was a magician.I have never witnessed anyone exhibit such brilliance before. Marcus barely said a word to explain how he managed to call the cops unnoticed. All he did was smile at me and touch his chest, signaling me to stay calm and that he had everything under control. Some moments later, I heard the siren of a cab heading towards my company's premises. I needed no one to tell me that the policemen had arrived. “That was fast, Marcus. I never expected that. How did you manage to pull that up again,” I said to Marcus while still trying to fathom how the policemen showed up so quickly. It wasn't too long before I questioned Marcus about how he invited the cops without my consent. “Don't worry about that. It's not necessary for now. I don't want us to waste our time on irrelevance when we have other issues to be bothered with,” Ma

Tony Woods POV“Your wife hired me as her third eye in the company. I tried to back out, but she threatened to report me to the cops. I had no choice but to comply with her evil agenda against you. She never loved you. She married you because of your wealth. She also plots to take over the company immediately after your demise,” Sean revealed. “She never loved you,” the words ring a bell in my head. It feels like a Déjà vu. That was what Susan said when she visited my mansion with Paul.I thought she said that out of jealousy because she couldn't endure the fact I found love according to a younger woman. That was the reason I drove her out of my house. I should have paid more attention to Susan rather than kicking her out. History has repeated itself and the same thing I avoided has finally happened to me.Marcus said so much until I stopped him from talking. He was spilling more dirty secrets than I ever envisaged. I went from wanting more to wanting none. My head couldn

Tony Woods POVWith him on my side as my lawyer, we haven't lost a single legal battle. I don't see how Angela is going to escape this. “I got your text and got here as fast as I could. The tone of the text sounded pretty urgent. What do you want to discuss? Is there a problem we should be worried about?” Marcus asked me after we had exchanged pleasantries and laughed at each other's jokes. He hasn't settled down, and he's already throwing questions at me like an atomic bomb.I wanted to initiate the conversation when I heard funny movements outside my office. Instantly, I halted and leaned my ears forward to observe the sound again “Is anything the matter? Why are you acting weird?” Marcus called my attention after he noticed how silent and observant I'd been over the last couple of minutes. “Give me a second, please. I need to sort something out,” I pleaded with Marcus. Not satisfied, I sneaked to the door and carefully opened it to scan the areas thoroughly. Unfortunately,

Tony Woods POVAfter the departure of Paul and Susan, it took a while for me to regain my sanity. I didn't know where I was anymore I kept on talking to myself like I was losing my mind. I was this close to booking a therapy session to fix the damage that Angela caused in my life. It felt as though I was living the life of someone else. I had a lot in mind to do, but I had no idea how to go about it. I was afraid that my decisions might be costly. I lost count of how many times I've canceled some important meetings that could be beneficial to my company. The meetings weren't relevant to me even though I was quite aware of how detrimental it would be for my company “Should I seek a divorce immediately and end this torment that has taken over my life completely? Or should I stick to Paul's advice to take things slowly?” I asked myself while the voice echoed back to me.It breaks my heart even more that I couldn't find that one person to share my pain with and get the solution

Tony Woods POV“Are you sure you really want to do this, sir? It'll surely break your heart. I might decline the call if you want me to. You don't have to force yourself and do this," Paul asked me for clarity. He needed to be certain that I was making the right choice. It was a simple question, yet difficult to respond to. I wasn't even certain what I wanted anymore, even though I asked them for more. That one question from Paul shattered the thoughts in my head.I wanted to satisfy my curiosity quickly. At the same time, I would rather not have my heart broken.Devastated, I rested my head on the desk like a lost soup while making the deliberation within me.While trying to decide for myself, Paul's phone rang again. Without asking further questions, I knew it was Angela calling again.“Uncle, she's calling again. Do you really want me to answer the phone?” Paul asked me. My heart was beating faster.
