Tony Woods POV

After the departure of Paul and Susan, it took a while for me to regain my sanity.

I didn't know where I was anymore

I kept on talking to myself like I was losing my mind.

I was this close to booking a therapy session to fix the damage that Angela caused in my life.

It felt as though I was living the life of someone else.

I had a lot in mind to do, but I had no idea how to go about it.

I was afraid that my decisions might be costly.

I lost count of how many times I've canceled some important meetings that could be beneficial to my company.

The meetings weren't relevant to me even though I was quite aware of how detrimental it would be for my company

“Should I seek a divorce immediately and end this torment that has taken over my life completely?

Or should I stick to Paul's advice to take things slowly?” I asked myself while the voice echoed back to me.

It breaks my heart even more that I couldn't find that one person to share my pain with and get the solution I needed.

It was me against the world

I had the money, power, and connections to do wonders, yet I felt helpless

What's the need of having all the money in the world when it can't buy you genuine happiness?

What's the point of being wealthy when it can't prevent a venomous serpent-like Angela

What troubles my heart the most is Kelly, my son. I've cultivated an unbreakable bond with the little boy.

I may end up in a coma should I discover that I'm not his biological father. I am most likely to commit murder.

As much as I was desperate to destroy Angela, I still didn't want to do something crazy that would make me spend the rest of my life in jail.

“I still have a couple of years ahead of me to accomplish, and I won't let Angela alter that,” I uttered the words of affirmation and paced around the office with my hands stationed behind me.

I carefully selected my plans.

I intend to get Angela by surprise.

I would pay a fortune to witness the disappointing look on her face.

As I thought of what to do, I saw my secretary walk inside my office with her face buried to the ground.

She didn't even knock, which was quite strange to me.

I could sense the fear inside of her. She wasn't even certain if she was doing the right thing considering how many times I've kicked her out.

“What's it this time? I thought I emphasized that I didn't have any guests.

What are you doing here again? Do you want to incur my wrath?

Or do you enjoy seeing me distressed?” I frowned and rested my hands below my jawline.

I couldn't wait for her to speak to me; I could proudly kick her out.

Her presence was starting to irritate me already.

“I'm quite aware of your warning, sir.

However, I just couldn't help but come over.” She explained to me, but not in a clearer tone. She still failed to hit the nail on the head.

“What are you talking about?

Is it the president or the Pope of Rome?” I asked sarcastically

She nodded her head in response. “No, sir. A fundamentally different person,”

“Your lawyer is here to see you, sir. He's at the reception.

I wasn't certain if you would want to see anyone, so I stopped him from coming with me.

I also did my best to make him leave, but he was adamant,” my secretary explained extensively.

Her explanation buried whatever punishment I had planned for her.

I thought she came to waste my time like she did before.

It took a while before she could move her lips.

After passing the message, she started edging backward towards the exit door. Should I ask her to leave?

“My lawyer is here to see me?”

I muttered succinctly.

“Yes, Boss.

He seemed impatient.

He's already threatening to come inside himself if I don't show up in the next five minutes.

I wouldn't want him to create a scene.

It would create a bad impression about the company,” she begged. After listening to her, I realized how urgent the appointment sounded.

“Oh, I see.

Send him in right away.

Also, apologize to him for the time-wasting.” I ordered my secretary.

Unlike the previous ones, I found it difficult to cancel the appointment.

I invited my lawyer myself, and it would be so improper for me to cancel in the dying minutes.

Are you saying that I should send him in?

I apologize for my ignorance. I may have missed a line.” My secretary asked me again.

She doubted if I meant what I said. She never expected me to accept any guests, not after I canceled all my appointments for the day.

“Don't make me repeat myself, girl.

Don't just stand there and ask silly questions.

Just obey the damn instructions and go fetch my lawyer immediately,” I screamed at her.

She left immediately and returned with Marcus Aurelius Dumbledore, who happens to be the family's lawyer.

“Here he is, sir.” She bowed to the ground after walking to the lawyer.

I dismissed her immediately before she even tried to speak.

Marcus played a vital role in ensuring that Ethan was released from police custody after Maria got him arrested.

When I heard about Ethan's arrest, I invited Marcus immediately to run some underground errands. I did it in such a way that Ethan knew nothing about it.

Knowing how obstinate Ethan is, he was most likely not to stick to the plan should he discover that I was plotting his release.

Aside from being my lawyer, Marcus could be considered my best friend and confidant for over three decades.

We met in high school and became more than just friends.

We were so close in school that people often mistook us as biological brothers.

I needed to be certain that I wasn't imagining things that weren't real.In a delicate situation like that, the last thing I'll consent to is jokes or pranks.“Of course, I did, Tony. You weren't the only one who heard the voice. It is safe to say that your ears lead you in the right direction. Let's listen to what the son of a bitch has to say,”Marcus replied.I was relieved by his utterances. It confirmed that I wasn't losing my mind after all.Patrick stepped forward. He stood before everyone to ensure he was closer to Sean than any of us. “Start talking now! This is your chance to make it right again. Tell us what you know about Angela's whereabouts. And don't you dare miss out on any details,” Patrick ordered Sean. For a moment, I was impressed by his moves. That was the only sensible thing that has been done over the last couple of hours. He's going to do something crazy," Officer Patrick instructed his other officers.Instantly, they stood before me and formed a shield to block my exit.Soon, Patrick joined me as he panted heavily. I gave him the run of his life that he would never forget rushing. “What's the meaning of this madness, Patrick? Have you suddenly lost your manners? Is this how you treat a man of my age?Tell them to get the fuck out of my way before someone gets hurt," I demanded.I used my age as an advantage to get past the officers, but I failed. The officers in front of me were ruthless. It was as though Patrick had cast a spell on them, that made them obey his command without grudges.“This ain't got nothing to do with ageYou brought this upon yourself. If there's anyone that might end up hurt, it's you," Officer Patrick said to me. It was starting to sound like a threat to me. I couldn't handle the r

Are you starting to hear things that aren't real?” Patrick mocked me. He didn't think I was telling the truth. “Have you forgotten the reason we are here? Let's go inside quickly before she escapes,” he urged me, but I refused. I was resilient and focused on my instincts. “I might be old, but certainly not dumb or stupid. I knew what I heard. That was Kelly's voice,” I challenged Patrick.I didn't allow him to control my thoughts. I left the doorway and strolled around my mansion, trying to trace the voice I heard. “Papa, please come,”I heard the voice calling me for the second time. I traced the voice to the garage and saw Angela and Kelly seated inside the car. I tried to get closer to them, but she drove off. I didn't try to run after the car, knowing it would be pointless to do that. For the second consecut

Tony Wood's POV“Where's Angela?Where's Kelly?” I popped the question without a direct lead. I was hoping that someone would sacrifice themselves to speak up.“Oh, shit. She fucking escaped. How did this happen? Where are the fucking nurses?” The doctor screamed. He slammed the wall to demonstrate his rage. He was about to leave when I held him back. “Where the heck are you going?”“What the heck is this? Let go of me,” he requested.“I want to summon all the nurses to know who was on duty,” he explained.I was ruthless!I refused to let him go, knowing that he was the reason for Angela's escape. If he hadn't hesitated when I called for her arrest, Angela would be sleeping behind bars already.“Oh, come on, Tony. You know I have nothing to do with this. I was only trying to protect the image of my hospital,” he claimed. That was the lamest excuse I've ever heard. The excuse made me even more angry. I wasn't conscious of my act anymore. And the next minute, I was already draggi

Tony Woods POV“Are you sure you are ready for this moment, Mr. Woods? I want you to take your time and reflect on it before coming up with a decision. What I'm about to disclose might sound partially devastating and heartbreaking to you. And I am sure you wouldn't want that for yourself. Remember your health status. I don't want to be the one to escalate your blood pressure,” The doctor retreated just when he was on the verge of disclosing my son's test results. It wasn't a question I found quite intriguing. But somehow, I was able to control my rage. “Really? Are we going to do this all day? Come on, Doctor. I am not interested in any of your jokes. Just hit the nail on the head. Doctor, if I weren't ready, I wouldn't be here.
