Tony Woods POV

“Sir, I hope you do know that you're the one delaying this investigation, right?

I wouldn't want you to play the victim card when the table gets turned in your favor.

For crying out loud, it's getting late, and we haven't done anything significant,” Marcus told me, even when I warned him not to speak.

He spoke so fast, as though he were under immense pressure.

It was obvious that he couldn't keep the thought to himself for too long.

What he said about me was rather degrading. Such an act could be capable of bringing out the best in me. But what was I supposed to do anyway?

Absolutely nothing!

I didn't pick any offense in what Marcus said about me, and neither did I retaliate that he used a harsh tone on me even when he shouldn't be doing that.

Irrespective of how everything will play out, I always expected him to be on my side at all times.

Inside of me, I knew he was right. I was doing the same thing I was kicked against a couple of minutes ago.

I had a glance at everyone, including Sean, who was patiently waiting for the world to end abruptly so he could be free from the torture.

Despite all the allegations against him, Sean didn't request a lawyer, which made it more weird.

It was a sign that he had already accepted his fate to be jailed for life, even without a fair court hearing.

“She's his wife,” Sean uttered, hence fuelling my anger.

I was about to berate him for speaking in my favor when he looked away and hit the gear at full speed.

“They've been married for six years and the marriage has blessed them with a 3-year-old son whose name is Kelly,” Sean spilled too a good deal of information just when he noticed that I wasn't ready to speak.

“Sean?” I called out.

That was the only thing I could say at the moment.

He made me speechless with his actions. Sean kept me in a complicated situation.

I had mixed feelings after listening to him speak.

I couldn't tell If I should be mad at him for being too forward or be thankful that he removed the anxiety away from my heart.

After putting the words in my mouth, Sean managed to apologize, “I'm sorry, I just needed to do this.

I'm sick and tired of what's happening around me. I know I'm never coming out of this alive,”

“I see you know a lot about his wife. Who's she to you?” The officer asked Sean.

It took a while before he could pop the question. He thought that Sean was going to spill a lot of information.

But unfortunately, that never happened.

“He got my wife pregnant. This son of a bitch is the biological Father of my son, Kelly,” I alleged.

I accused Sean even though I had no clear evidence to back my claim.

That was the only way I could get back at Sean for the shame and disgrace he caused me.

“Oh, shit.

Are we going to do this again? How many times do I want to tell you I'm not the father of your son?” Sean ranted.

He screamed until the veins around his neckline nearly popped out.

He tried doing everything to make me believe his story, but I ignored him.

I stood on my ground and argued over the matter.

I referred to Angela's blackmail of Sean and, of course, the fact that Angela and Sean dated in the past.

Those were enough evidence that they might have rekindled their love for each other after they reconnected.

“Okay, that's it.

Enough with the argument already,” the officer stepped in as he acted as our mediator.

“We shouldn't argue over this. I'm pretty sure a DNA result would provide the answer you all seek,” the officer suggested.

After his suggestion, he introduced himself as Officer Patrick.

Stupid me!

I was so engrossed in finding out the truth that I wasn't bothered to find out about his name.

“What If the DNA turns out to be negative? What's my compensation? We need to reach an agreement before proceeding,” Sean stated.

The moment I sensed the confidence in his tone, I knew for sure that he was damn serious about it.

It was the greatest challenge of my life since the case began.

The question got me second-guessing myself to the point where I didn't even know what I wanted for myself anymore.

An accusation without concrete evidence is as good as invalid, and I wouldn't want to appear like a fool before the honorable court.

“If you don't respond in 60 seconds, I will take your silence for a response,” Officer Frank warned me.

“I'm interested,” I hurriedly spoke with a cracked tone.

None of them responded. It was obvious that they wanted me to repeat what I said.

I figured that was the only way for them to be convinced that I was certain about my decision.

“I am ready to conduct the DNA test result in a different hospital,” I repeated my utterances, but this time, with a bit of confidence.

I didn't know what I was doing when I made the decision. However, I was hoping it would go in my favor.

“That's it!

We now have a case.

But first, we need to take Mr. Sean to the station.

He has a lot of questions to do,” Officer Patrick announced as he brought out his cuffs and wrapped them in Sean's hands like a prisoner.

On the verge of stepping out of the vehicle, we heard a phone ring. I wasn't bothered because I recognized my caller tune.

Just like me, Officer Patrick and Marcus weren't tense.

Unfortunately, the only person with an awkward expression was Sean.

He acted like he was hiding another dirty little secret that was more dreadful than the previous ones.

He hasn't answered the phone yet, and he's already sending us some bad signals

Tony Woods's POV“Can someone please say something already? Don't fucking sit here and do nothing while I die in silence. Have you two known each other before?” I lost my cool and yelled at them. The silent treatment was beginning to mess with my head. They made it seem like I was insane when none of them responded to my question Marcus patted me on the shoulder, pleading for me to stay calm, but I ignored him. Instead, his plea fuelled my frustration. I didn't know when I screamed at him. “Don't you dare tell me to stay calm, Marcus? Have you lost your mind?Do I need to remind you what's at stake here?” Marcus sighed and looked away. He knew that he screwed up. Deep down, he wanted to apologize to me, but he wasn't certain if I was going to accept the apology. I let out a deep breath and forced myself to stay calm. I tried all I could not to speak further or act. I didn't trust my guts. I was scared that I might do something stupid to hurt someone, which would, of course

Tony Woods's POVThat was the second time Marcus has amazed me in the space of ten minutes. If he wasn't my friend, I would have doubted that he was a magician.I have never witnessed anyone exhibit such brilliance before. Marcus barely said a word to explain how he managed to call the cops unnoticed. All he did was smile at me and touch his chest, signaling me to stay calm and that he had everything under control. Some moments later, I heard the siren of a cab heading towards my company's premises. I needed no one to tell me that the policemen had arrived. “That was fast, Marcus. I never expected that. How did you manage to pull that up again,” I said to Marcus while still trying to fathom how the policemen showed up so quickly. It wasn't too long before I questioned Marcus about how he invited the cops without my consent. “Don't worry about that. It's not necessary for now. I don't want us to waste our time on irrelevance when we have other issues to be bothered with,” Ma

Tony Woods POV“Your wife hired me as her third eye in the company. I tried to back out, but she threatened to report me to the cops. I had no choice but to comply with her evil agenda against you. She never loved you. She married you because of your wealth. She also plots to take over the company immediately after your demise,” Sean revealed. “She never loved you,” the words ring a bell in my head. It feels like a Déjà vu. That was what Susan said when she visited my mansion with Paul.I thought she said that out of jealousy because she couldn't endure the fact I found love according to a younger woman. That was the reason I drove her out of my house. I should have paid more attention to Susan rather than kicking her out. History has repeated itself and the same thing I avoided has finally happened to me.Marcus said so much until I stopped him from talking. He was spilling more dirty secrets than I ever envisaged. I went from wanting more to wanting none. My head couldn

Tony Woods POVWith him on my side as my lawyer, we haven't lost a single legal battle. I don't see how Angela is going to escape this. “I got your text and got here as fast as I could. The tone of the text sounded pretty urgent. What do you want to discuss? Is there a problem we should be worried about?” Marcus asked me after we had exchanged pleasantries and laughed at each other's jokes. He hasn't settled down, and he's already throwing questions at me like an atomic bomb.I wanted to initiate the conversation when I heard funny movements outside my office. Instantly, I halted and leaned my ears forward to observe the sound again “Is anything the matter? Why are you acting weird?” Marcus called my attention after he noticed how silent and observant I'd been over the last couple of minutes. “Give me a second, please. I need to sort something out,” I pleaded with Marcus. Not satisfied, I sneaked to the door and carefully opened it to scan the areas thoroughly. Unfortunately,

Tony Woods POVAfter the departure of Paul and Susan, it took a while for me to regain my sanity. I didn't know where I was anymore I kept on talking to myself like I was losing my mind. I was this close to booking a therapy session to fix the damage that Angela caused in my life. It felt as though I was living the life of someone else. I had a lot in mind to do, but I had no idea how to go about it. I was afraid that my decisions might be costly. I lost count of how many times I've canceled some important meetings that could be beneficial to my company. The meetings weren't relevant to me even though I was quite aware of how detrimental it would be for my company “Should I seek a divorce immediately and end this torment that has taken over my life completely? Or should I stick to Paul's advice to take things slowly?” I asked myself while the voice echoed back to me.It breaks my heart even more that I couldn't find that one person to share my pain with and get the solution
