Hazel’s P.O.V.

My feet felt like a foreign object attached to my body when I walked towards the backyard of the packhouse.

That’s where Naisha was hosting lunch with her friends and minions. Each of them had a black heart like Naisha.

After searching for Naisha's whereabouts all morning, I learned from a kitchen maid that Naisha had planned a lunch with her friends in the pack house. I waited for her to finish the lunch so that they don't dump the whole lunch on me.

While searching for her, I learned that Keith left the ceremony right after she marked him. He didn’t kiss her to finish the ritual.

He searched for someone all night, and now he was sleeping in his room after getting heavily drunk this morning, ruining their first night completely.

The whole situation made me understand that instead of confronting Keith, Naisha blamed everything on me.

I heard a few murmurs that she was like a wounded wolf last night, lashing out at everyone to find Keith's whereabouts, breaking whatever thing came into her sight, and beating a few maids to vent her anger. She even tried to find my whereabouts.

I don’t know what was going on in her mind, but one thing I was sure about was that it will be my sheer luck if I walk away alive today.

I am also an alpha by blood. So, I can understand her anger. I would have been fuming just like her if my mate left me like this.

But I don’t agree with her decision to make my life hell and put my mother’s life in danger.

Both I and my mother were innocent in the whole situation, but who can put some sense in that arrogant b*tch?

“Look who graced us with her presence.” Ruby, her best friend, and David’s younger (also the meanest one) sister taunted me in disdain.

I gulped down the retort that suddenly came to my tongue and looked at Naisha with a calm face.

“Luna.” I greeted her formally, bowing my head to show respect, after stopping at a distance from their table.

Her dark green eyes shot daggers at me as soon as I looked up.

“My mother's medical grant is revoked this morning, Luna. They said that my mother didn’t fit for that, but her medical grant was approved by the former Luna.” I spoke, but she cut me off.

“And I am the present Luna now. If I said that your mother’s case is not eligible for a medical grant, then it isn’t. It's my duty to ensure that the charity falls to needy hands, not to leeches and homewreckers."

Xyla growled aloud in a fit of rage, ready to kill Naisha, but I blocked her again.

I had to because I knew what was coming to me.

I wanted to challenge her for her decision of over-powering the former Luna’s decision, but Keith’s parents had already gone out on a vacation.

“My mother is in a critical condition, Luna. She will not be able to survive more than a day if she doesn’t get the treatment.”

“So what? What does it have to do with me if she will survive or not? And it’s not like she is your birth mother.”

The taunt made my nails dig deeper in my palms.

“Oh, I forgot. She found you somewhere in the wood when you are only a baby. What a combination? A pathetic widow and a b*stard pup.” She laughed in disgust, followed by all her friends.

“Please, Luna. Be a magnanimous person and let her get treatment. She is my only family.” I pleaded, my eyes lowered, just like she loved to see me.

My hands were clasped tightly behind my back.

“Ooooooooo….. you are begging me?” Naisha cooed sinisterly.

I gulped down the invisible lump that had formed in the middle of my throat.

“Beg her, Hazel. Show us how much you love your mom?” Ruby mocked while laughing hard. I close my eyes, trying to gulp this humiliation down too.

Without opening my eyes, I fell on my knees.

Thud…

My knees hit the solid pebble floor, but the pain in my heart was more than the pain in my knees. Before coming here, I changed my clothes and wore jeans and a high-neck top with long sleeves.

Those hickey marks can’t be seen by Naisha or any of her minions.

I wouldn’t be able to prove that it wasn’t Keith with me.

Because this is what she had in her mind right now.

“O my!!!!! This is how you beg him to fu*k you?” she asked mockingly, feigning shock, but her voice was filled with pure hatred.

“I beg you, Luna. Please have mercy on my mother and grant her the medical aid. I assure you th…. That wh…. Whatever misunderstanding you have about me. Nothing is true.” I begged her with all my sincerity.

She marched towards me, but I didn’t make any move, just stayed on my knees, my eyes still closed.

“Aaahhhh.” I muffled my scream, but biting my lips when she suddenly grabbed my hair at the back of my head and yanked them harshly.

“You s**t. Can’t live a day without men, huh?” Naisha screamed at my face, pulling my hair so hard that my scalp hurt badly.

I felt tears in my eyes, but I didn’t let them fall.

I can’t. They were psychos, and my tears will turn them into a monster.

Just like they always turned on whenever they tormented me in the past.

I dug my nails into my knees in pain.

“This is not true, Luna. You…. You can sense if I am involved with a man or not.” I replied to her in a low voice, filled with pain, though.

The next second, my body fell forward with such force that I hit my forehead and nose to the stone floor hard.

I saw stars in front of my closed eyes. I slowly opened my eyes, but Naisha didn’t stop.

She still had my hair in her grasp. She pulled them so hard that my whole upper body straightened immediately.

“You think I am going to believe you, huh? He is my mate now…. mine.” She screamed at the top of her lungs and started slapping me.

“Hold her.” She commanded her minions, and my heart sank.

“I am telling the truth, Luna. I left the ceremony early and went to the Twilight Bar. Yo… you can check the security footage.” I pleaded, desperate to make her believe that it wasn’t me but Keith who came after me.

SLAP

My ear rang because of the force she used in this slap.

Ruby and another girl held my arms and shoulder tightly, digging their nails deep inside my flesh intentionally.

“And then??? Where did you go?” She growled aloud, slapping me again and again.

My ears were ringing so loud that her growls were drowned in them.

“I passed out in the alley behind the bar, Luna. Believe me…. I never met the alpha the whole day and night yesterday.” I still pleaded hoarsely.

Naisha was pulling my hair so hard that I was sure she would pull it out of my scalp at any time, and her minions were literally drawing the blood from my arms and shoulders.
