Chapter 2

Eliana:

“YOU DID WHAT?” Edward yelled at me catching everyone’s eyes as we walked.

“Eddy!” I hissed at him to lower his voice. Anastasia’s eyes were wide in surprise at what I did and the sudden raise of tone from Edward.

“Don’t ‘Eddy’ me. Are you out of your mind? Eliana, what the hell have you done?” Edward snapped at me and I sighed running my fingers through my hair. I understood his worry, he was practically my big brother. Therefore, I somewhat expected his reaction, I just didn’t really expect him to have it in public.

“I had no other option, Edward! How on Earth did anyone expect me to leave my brother when the money was offered to me for this small task?” I asked Edward turning to face him. Anastasia took my hand in hers and gently squeezed it.

“Eliana, it’s not that we don’t expect you to help your brother, but surely there was another way out of this” Anastasia said looking me in the eye, her voice soft and gentle as she spoke trying to calm me down while Edward looked like a bull ready to attack.

“If there was another way then I couldn’t find it, I have no job, and even if I did, no bank would be willing to give me the amount Andrias needed, I didn’t have gold to sell, and we most definitely weren’t going to sell the house for this. Nana and DeLaria would be devastated if it happened. Even if they said nothing about it, but you two of all people know how hard nana worked to buy the house for us to at least have something of our own!” I snapped at my two friends who froze not knowing what to say. It was already a while past nine and the air had cooled down a bit causing goosebumps to rise over my arms, though I was wearing a jacket.

“I didn’t mean to yell Eliana, but you could have spoken to us. We could have tried to help” Edward said wrapping his arms around me, pulling me into a hug, I sighed and hugged him back not knowing what to say, if only it were that simple.

“Edward, I wouldn’t put you through that burden, you are barely making enough for your family, and I know what your mum is like Nasia” I said looking at my two best friends who smiled at me, Edward wrapped his arm around my shoulder, and Anastasia around my waist as we all went back to walking like civilized humans.

“Well, what do you plan on doing? Surely you’re not going to marry the lad”

“I have to Nasia, but I leave after the wedding…”

“Where are you going?” Edward asked frowning in confusion.

“Maybe my aunt’s place at Wales or something, at least until he somehow moves on and forgets about me, I’ll tell nana anything then. We’ll see how it goes” I said not thinking much about the subject, the more I did, the more I hesitated and regretted making that decision.

“I honestly don’t know what to say, but you are one crazy girl Eliana, you do realize that you’re going to break the lad’s heart in the process?” Anastasia asked looking me in the eye, I nodded. But that was his aunt’s decision, since she saw it as okay to do it. Then, who was I to judge?

“I can’t say or do anything about it Nasia, the woman claimed that it was fine, if his own family member sold him out. Who was I to say no? Plus, these are rich people, they tend to get over their loved ones quickly, haven’t you watched TV, they date a new person almost every single month” I joked making Anastasia laugh, I giggled and Edward chuckled kissing my cheek, all three of us stopping in front of a French fries’ booth, the man smiled at us, wearing a red outfit matching his booth and a white apron.

“What can I do for you three?” The man smiled politely, his voice deep. It wasn’t the first time we’ve ordered anything from him, he was somewhat used to us coming to him when we were hungry on our night chats.

“The usual please” Edward said taking out his wallet, both Anastasia and I went to object but the glare we got shut us both up, I rolled my eyes on him and the man chuckled at us. It was usually the case, one of us would pay for all three, except last week Edward paid, it was supposed to be either me or Anastasia to pay this week, but Mr. Hotshot over here decided to pay himself.

“I can’t believe you broke our paying code” I scolded.

“I would tell you what I don’t believe after what you did today, but I haven’t opened my mouth about it in the past three minutes, don’t test my patience sweet ‘Liana” he said using my nickname, I rolled my eyes as the man handed us our fries, I can never seem to remember his name. Though he has mentioned it a few times.

“Thank you” I smiled taking my fork and taking one ketchup filled potato, putting it in my mouth, I almost moaned in delight at the taste of it, but managed to control myself as I chewed the greasy goods.

“You’re welcome little one” the man smiled at me, Anastasia digging in her fries like she hasn’t eaten in days causing both Edward and I to laugh at the sight of her.

“These are so good!” She said excitedly, the man smiled in amusement at her reaction but didn’t laugh or open his mouth to speak seeing my and Edward’s eyes on our sudden barbaric friend.

“Who knew she had a Viking in her?” Edward commented stopping the girl from swallowing the three or four fries she suddenly shoved in her mouth, she glared at the two of us and I pretended to be eating my fries not wanting to unleash the beast in the girl who was now devouring her meal.

“I just wonder how she’s never fat” Edward tried again this time I had to stop myself from laughing as Nasia went to attack Edward, still eating her fries might I add, and trying to kick his legs as she did, the man and I stood aside watching the two trying to contain our laughter.

“Ah, to be young, you should enjoy yourselves, you are at the right ages for it” the man told me smiling warmly, his eyes gentle. I smiled and nodded at him turning to face the two as they chased one another, Anastasia holding her fries for dear life as she now tried escaping Edward who was chasing her.

“How the hell did the tables turn?” I asked the two who were too busy to answer me at the moment, Anastasia hid behind me and Edward glared at me making me laugh as I defended the girl who was panting while laughing, a playful glare plastered on Edward’s face as he looked at the two of us.

“Defending her I see?” Edward asked raising an eyebrow.

“Maybe” I said smiling, I couldn’t really cross my arms over my chest having the fries in my hands, but Edward got the point from my stance and chuckled shaking his head. All three of us nodding at the old man who was watching us act like a bunch of elementary school students and walking away before we caused him a headache.

“You know, if I wasn’t too hungry right now, I would have attacked both of you” Edward said proudly, I raised my eyebrow at him in a teasing manner and Anastasia who had finished her fries crossed her arms raising a similar eyebrow before taking a piece of MY fries.

“You wouldn’t have been able to” I teased “did you forget that we are both mama bears?”

“Yes, because technically your mama bear friend was just running away from me” Edward mused making me laugh.

“No fair! I was defending my fries!” Anastasia said in a whining voice making all three of us laugh.
