MasukAmy's pov
I sealed the last cardboard box and wiped the sweat off my brow with the back of my hand.
Seven hours of packing and finally done, Jeremy had dipped out thirty minutes in to visit a friend since they won't be seeing each other often when we move.
I'd dialed him about a dozen times since then, straight to voicemail.
“Seriously Jeremy?!” I hissed into my phone when he still wasn't answering.
I was trying so hard to make us work, why was he making it difficult for me?
Suddenly my phone started to ring and I picked it up from our bed. “Babe, I won.”
The phone nearly slipped past my hands, “No way…” I said unintentionally.
He didn't seem to mind.
“It's ten million dollars, baby. I'm finally going to give you the life you deserve.”
Tears welled up in my eyes, “I'm so sorry for ever doubting you. Why don't you come home, let's celebrate…”
“Actually, I already booked us a room in a five star hotel. I'll text you the address. Make sure you wear something nice,”
More tears.
I got dressed at the speed of light, even wore some lipstick and styled my hair simple but elegantly.
Fifteen minutes later I was in the lobby of the hotel, legs wobbling with every step, the excitement making me unable to walk straight.
He sent me a text when I entered the elevator; “I'll be putting a blindfold on you when you walk in so keep your eyes closed before then.”
I replied to the text and went back to bubbling with excitement.
Finally I wouldn't be the only one footing bills, we could pay off all our student debt, buy a house for the two kids we'll have.
My eyelids were shut tight as I entered the unlocked hotel room, two steps in and there was already a blindfold around my eyes.
I tried to reach for Jeremy but he stepped away from my touch.
“Give me a strip tease.”
I was too excited to think, slowly I began to undress. Good thing I wore matching underwear. He started asking me to pose, it was a bit tantalizing at first then it got weird.
“All right Jeremy, where are you?” I said playfully with a small laugh reaching to touch him and then I fell to the warmth of a human body under fabric and smiled.
“Jeremy…” I reached up, held his face and kissed him, his lips parted immediately possessively taking mine but something didn't feel right however my head was spinning with how good of a kiss it was so I didn't question it just dive deeper until I had to back away for air.
“Jeremy, that was amazing…” I said pulling off the blindfold because I was impatient now.
The smile on my face immediately shrunk when I saw who was in front of me, a man with shoulders as broad as valleys covered with a deep darkish navy blue suit and more noticeably my strawberry lipstick smeared across his lips.
“Who the hell are you?!” I screamed , backing away, my eyes spinning around looking for Jeremy.
But he wasn't in the room.
“What did you do to Jeremy?!” I said at the top of my voice stomping forward, the man met my stride standing up to his full height which was almost a complete foot taller than me and I wasn't exactly a short woman.
After recovering from his insane height it suddenly struck me that I was nude except for my underwear, I protectively clutched around my chest and my panty still seething.
“Just wait when my boyfriend comes he’ll kick your-”
“You don't have a boyfriend anymore,” the man said as if it was a matter of fact, “from now on you belong to me.”
Then without warning someone came from behind it and a damp cloth was pressed against my face. I kicked and screamed but eventually my entire body went limp until my eyes closed.
•••••••••
A house with a white picket fence
Two cute kids running around
And my adoring husband by myself.
That was all I wanted, was that so terrible? Did I not deserve to be happy too? After everything I've been through, don't I deserve just a little bit of happiness?
Probably not, misery was my longest companion.
Perhaps that was never meant to change.
When my eyes peeled open the first thing I took in was the artificial lights burning my retinas then it was a middle aged woman knelt beside me as I was submerged in a tub.
“Don't touch me!” I tried to get away from the woman but her grip despite her age was as firm as iron.
My head was still feeling a bit dizzy so it was hard to coordinate myself and resist the other woman. She finished bathing me as if I was three, helped me out with the tub and handed me a towel and a nightgown that was all but perfectly transparent.
“Mr Moretti wants you to wear this,” her voice vibrated with deep respect when she mentioned that name. My instincts told me that it was the same pervert from the hotel room.
I had half the mind to scream, kick and resist but that would only make things harder for me.
What I need to do right now is buy time for Jeremy to rescue me.
There were a lot of things not adding up but if I couldn't trust my boyfriend of half a decade then who else could I trust?
I wore the nightgown that covered next to nothing, the woman escorted me out of the room and led me through a carpeted hall adorned with decorational vases and paintings. I could smell the old money coming off from the place.
Why would someone this loaded need to resort to kidnapping?
Was he in cohorts with the casino where Jeremy went to gamble, I've heard that some casinos pull dirty tricks when they don't want to give a huge payout.
My head was spinning with a million and one thoughts until I was pushed as gently as possible to what appeared to be a study.
Then I heard that rich voice again brushing my ears.
“Finally you're here.”
Antonio’s POVI bit into a piece of dark chocolate, my eyes planted on the monitors in my study. Other than the crunching of the sweet treat, there was nothing else but silence. Then, my eyes widened by a fraction when I saw my right-hand man. Carlos, who should have been resting, was limping out of Amy’s room with a look on his face that made my senses immediately tingle with suspicion. There was something going on. I could smell it. Insubordination hung high in the air, and if I wanted to, I could have summoned both of them and burned the truth out of them. But I didn't. Instead, I waited. I watched. Anytime it felt like my curiosity was simmering over, I remembered her eyes—the betrayal that moved between them when I yelled at her last night, saying every terrible thing I could think of rather than the one thing nested deep inside me.Finally, I was tired of being left in the dark. I called Loretta to my study. In only a few minutes, she stood before my desk. To her credit, she was
Amy's POV"Ugh..." I groaned as the morning light escaped through the gap of the curtains and spilled over my face. It would have been nice to go out and bask in it properly, then I was reminded that I was under confinement. I sighed in defeat.I was about to roll around and go back to sleep when a thought snapped into life. I jumped off the bed immediately, flipping the mattress and going at every drawer, turning over furniture until the room looked like a hurricane had gone through it. I kept doing this until it felt like my palms were burning. My heart hammered against my ribs in a rhythm that was broken and uneven. The search had taken an hour, and there was nothing to show for it other than the acceptance of what had happened: my burner phone was gone.I sat up uneasily on the edge of the bed, my breath shallow and cracked. I had taken it with me into Enzo's domain, and in my haste to escape with Carlos, I had forgotten it. There was no doubt that eventually, it would fall into E
Enzo’s POVAs I inhaled a deep breath, the charred remains of my precious warehouse seemed to enter my nostrils. I looked around at the millions wasted, all in the wake of that bastard's rage. To think that I had been ticking him off intentionally all these years, and this was the thing that made him go over the edge.I continued to walk over the ruins, crushing further what was already irretrievably destroyed, until I found myself standing at the very center of the wreckage of a shipment I had been waiting for for months. I felt the urge to laugh. I opened my mouth, yet no sound came out, so I just closed it back, dusting some of the debris off my shoulder. The tailored suit on my body was as good as ruined; nothing would ever get out the smell of smoke. Yet, I still stood in the middle of it all, thinking that all it took was one tiny button to bring millions level with the ground."Antonio... after hesitating for so long, she was finally the thing that made you move, huh?""Boss,"
Amy's POVI heard a mechanical crunch and, afterwards, saw the bits and pieces of Antonio's phone fall onto the floor in a pathetic pile. He ended the call between him and his brother in the most extreme way. He didn't walk away after that; he just stood there, perfectly still, like a statue—a perfectly chiseled, dark statue."Antonio, please say something..." The silence was getting to me again. I didn't know what to expect from him when nothing was being said for far too long. Then, he turned around to face me, and there was a flicker of something incredibly wrong deep beneath his eyes—something I couldn't quite read. He came back toward me again and raised his hand, not to hit me, but to hover over my cheek, forming the ghost of a touch. His fingers carefully grazed over my jawline as if I were a bomb that could detonate at any time."If I knew this would happen," he said, his voice barely above a whisper, "I would have done everything possible to make sure that you had never stepp
Amy's POV The adrenaline that had been pumping through my body the one that carried me through the ventilation shaft and down to the basement, the one that held me even as I was about to have my skull smashed in finally began to ebb away. It left behind a hollow void that ached with every motion.Slumber was dragging me off. Before I knew it, I could only blink twice and then the world was complete darkness. Everything stayed that way, with Antonio’s overpowering presence being the last thing I felt. I slept through the rest of the drive, and I couldn't have been more grateful to escape from that tense awkwardness, even if it was just for a while. But it did not last forever. Soon, I was brought back to consciousness by the car abruptly stopping. My head was in a position where I could see, from the corner of my eye, the mansion gates closing. I didn't move; I just remained like that until I felt myself being lifted. I let my body go limp, still exhausted, collapsing into the strong
Amy's POVWithout looking away from the man, he signaled his men, and they came to grab Carlos, who was already slipping into unconsciousness. His other men took care of the giant who had been about to knock me out. As they did so, Antonio pulled back, and his gaze moved anywhere else other than where I was.In that moment, I was reminded of my place. Of course, he hadn't come here for me—just for Carlos. At best, I was just an added bonus. He came forward, grabbing my arms while still avoiding looking directly at me. He pulled me up, saying nothing, and just dragged me along. As we walked past other soldiers belonging to Enzo, they didn't make an attempt to go after us; they just stood to the side, but with a heat that could burn through ice.I was more or less yanked into the back seat. What was supposed to bring relief brought a different type of tension, loading into my chest as the SUV began its suffocating ride back. Antonio didn't say anything, and somehow his presence still fi
