LOGINAmy's pov
He was right behind me, so close that his hot breath brushed my ear when he spoke and his body heat transferred over to mine through the tissue fabric I had on.
I jerked away as if I had been electrocuted, turning around to face him.
“It's you.”
As I had rightfully expected, the man behind me was the same pervert from the hotel.
He walked over without an ounce of rush in his steps, and for some reason his blue eyes pinned me down. I couldn't dare to move. I was struggling to even breathe.
His fingers reached under my chin, tipping my head up.
“Your pictures do you no justice, all perhaps Jeremy is just as useless at photography as he is at gambling,” he said Jeremy's name with such familiarity, does that mean that he wasn't working with the casino.
“What do you want from me? Why did you kidnap me?”
“Kidnap?” He returned the word back to me as if that was the first time he heard it. He held my arm firm but not painful, however I couldn't even dream of breaking out of his grip.
He went with me towards the table, then his hands began to scan around the orderly mess before peeling documents from it all.
“Read it,” he said in a commanding voice, thrusting the document into my hands.
I took it, then my eyes went wide.
“What is this?”
“It's called an exchange, bunny.” He said then he sat at the corner of the table pulling me close until I was between his legs.
“Jeremy owed me a lot of money, he was a frequent one at my casinos. Eventually he managed to rack up a 10 million dollar debt. That's impressive, even for him. Of course it was now at an amount that could only be paid with a life so he decided…” he leaned forward and pulled me even closer. “... That it wouldn't be his life, he handed you over on a silver platter luring you to the hotel so I could see if you were worth it.”
“That's not true…” I said even though deep down underneath all of my denial my sense of reason that I had suppressed ever since I started dating Jeremy told me it was.
“Jeremy would never do this to me, we've been together for 5 years…once everything settled we were going to get married!”
He shrugged his shoulders, powerful muscles moving his black button down shirt.
“It doesn't really matter what you believe or not,” he said, then when he saw my face shimmering with tears he coughed, “however there's no harm in drilling it in that you have no choice here.”
He fished his phone out of his pocket while still casually holding me in an iron grip. When the person on the other side answered he placed it on speaker.
“Mr Moretti, I hope you're enjoying your package,” Jeremy's voice came through, “I'm glad you took her even though she's not that much to look at if I'm being honest.”
My mouth fell open when I couldn't speak, Mr Moretti didn't have that issue.
“Just keep your slimy feet out of my casinos if you know what's good for you.” He sounded very laid back but serious enough to tell you that he wasn't giving an empty threat.
“Don't worry boss, this time I'll be coming with cash and -”
“Sweetheart, come to bed!” A woman's voice came through from the background loud and demanding.
“I'll be there in a moment, honey…have you put Lucas to bed?”
“Yes, now get over here!”
The more I listened to the more I listened the more it felt like the ground on the needs of my feet was peeling away.
If it wasn't for Mr Moretti holding my hand I would have collapsed right there and then.
He ended the call with Jeremy.
“Still having doubts?” He asked with a cocked eyebrow then reached up to curl my hair around his finger.
“From the look on your face I'm guessing you didn't know anything,” he stated frankly then went ahead to explain everything.
3 years ago Jeremy had a one night stand, she got pregnant and they've been raising their son together. The woman either doesn't know that they are others in the picture or she doesn't care. Either way he had proposed a year ago and they had a simple court marriage.
As I listened to Mr Moretti I lined up the dates and it clicked precisely with the times that he had to ‘go on a trip with friends’ or ‘visit family’
And as for the inheritance from my grandma he blew it all in one night, didn't even win a single game.
The fairy tale I had built in my head collapsed one card after another until it was just a rubble of dreams.
“So what are you going to do with me now?” I asked, feeling numb inside as he continued to fiddle with my hair. “Will you kill me in his place?”
He paused then lowered his hand to my waist.
“Now why would I do that? It would be such a waste.”
He got up, rubbing his fingers on the thin fabric. It felt like he was touching me directly.
“From now on you work for me, pleasing the men I ask you to until you pay off all the debt.”
I chuckled, and couldn't help it. He seemed surprised. Of course he was shocked. Who wouldn't be if someone was laughing in this situation?
“Until I pay the money off…so basically I'll be working for the rest of my life?”
“Not exactly, but I've hardly ever seen any of the women leave once they dipped their legs into the job.”
In that moment I saw that I had a choice, I could either be swept away by the storm or surf it.
Tentatively I reached up, wrapping my fingers around his neck.
“I was actually a virgin before I met my boyfriend, someone will have to teach me how to please men.”
The corner of his lips tugged.
“I break everything I touch bunny. What makes you think you're going to be any different?”
“Cause I'm already broken, Mr Moretti.”
Amy's POVHis consciousness slipped away, right after his voice after that the only thing that broke the silence was the mechanical his from the oxygen monitor and the constant mumbles behind the door from his soldiers words being exchanged right over my head their footsteps constantly thumping causing a headache that was so severe it felt like they were stomping directly on my head.I was massaging the back of Antonio's hand his grip now loosen on mine, my heart finally steadying into a normal pace, I looked at his face the closest to rest I had ever seen him he was always doing something always occupied always needed somewhere it was almost sad that the only time he had rest was when he was dancing the thin line between life and death. As my heart was calming down, my mind was in chaos. His unexpected confession flashed with what I knew about him what I had accepted he was as a man. I was attracted to him both of us and anyone who had spent more than 5 seconds with us in the same r
Amy's POVMadam Loretta’s face tightened. "She is a distraction! She""Can stay by his side and warm up his bed. That’s her job, isn't it?" Ravenna interrupted. "I don’t see why waking up to a pretty face would do anything other than help."Loretta’s whole body shook, looking ready to strike the younger woman, but Ravenna didn't flinch. "Both you and this child have the same problem," Loretta hissed. "You just don’t know when to step back."Ravenna smiled. "I’ll take that as a compliment, Madam L."With a subtle gesture, Ravenna signaled the guards to release me. "Why are you still standing here?" she whispered to me. "He needs you right now, doesn't he?"I didn’t wait for her to retract the invitation. I bolted past the guards faster than the wind itself, panting as I followed the trail of blood to a door that hit me with the smell of antiseptic. The doctor was already inside. I knew I couldn't go further, but I would stay as close as I was allowed.I had spent the past days imaginin
Amy's POVShe let that question hang in the air like an invisible weight. Then a smile controlled and only half-reaching her eyes appeared on her face. A bottle of wine was presented on the table between us, and she was quick to moisten her lips with it."My name is Ravenna, by the way," she said. She offered no explanation of what faction she belonged to. I had learned that was the way to do it in situations like this; providing a name and nothing else was a power move. Ravenna. Her name came off like a blend of sharp icicles and velvet. Even without knowledge of her rank, I knew she was high enough likely an Underboss to walk into this territory so comfortably and even pour his wine. I watched the amber liquid fill the crystal glass as I tried to wrap my head around who she could be."I just want you to know," she said, lifting the glass to her lips, "your pictures do you no justice at all. You’re not what Moretti usually goes for, but I guess he wanted a taste of something..." She
Amy's POVI didn't tell Aubrey that her husband was messaging me. It would have been nothing more than a hindrance to me, but I’d be lying if I said I didn't feel a tiny pinch of guilt whenever she messaged me bragging about how her man was "the best in the world." By my fifth morning on house arrest, I had already been filled in on their entire life."They met six years ago in an airport restaurant and just happened to be going on the same flight, their seats next to each other! I just knew it was fate!" Aubrey had gushed.I tried to fix the timeline in my head. Yeah, that was during the time I was down with a fever. Jeremy and I had a vacation planned, and when I got sick, he convinced me to stay back and work while he went anyway. He had the time of his life while I was barely pushing through, eventually spending a chunk of my savings on an ambulance because I couldn't move. He hadn't answered my calls the entire trip. He claimed the "service was terrible," and I had gone for it ho
Amy's POVTwo more nights passed by, dragging at a snail’s pace. The whole thing about "house arrest" had been a joke on my side; I did not know that Madame Loretta was actually not going to let me step out of the room at all.The day after Antonio left, I tried to leave my room in the evening just to get a bit of fresh air in the garden. I had only made it to the stairs before I was accosted by two men so tall I had to tilt my chin up at an awkward angle just to look at them."Where are you going?" the first one grunted. Before, their voices had sounded neutral, but now there was a pitch of hostility there or maybe it was just my imagination."Outside," I responded quickly. "Just going out for some fresh air in the garden."The two of them exchanged looks as if that was the first time in their lives they’d heard anyone put those words together in a sentence. The one standing behind me took me by my hand and maneuvered me back toward the room I had just left."It would be better if y
Amy's POVSleep was like an enemy that avoided me for most of the night. I think I managed to get about two hours, and within those two hours, I was run over by nightmares of what could have occurred. Madam Loretta had my phone, so I wasn't able to reach out to Antonio. I don't know if he even wanted me to reach out to him when he was out like this. My mind was racing, but after what she told me last night, I was rethinking just how involved I wanted to be in all this if I should just keep to my lane and not step out from the boundaries that had been placed in front of me. Maybe that would be easier, and maybe I could hold on to my neck longer instead of losing it foolishly.Morning came and there wasn't a sight of Madam Loretta, just another maid that served me my food in my room and told me that it was best I remained there for the time being. It was clear what I was being told wasn't a suggestion, but more or less a command coming from Madam Loretta herself. I sighed and accepted m
