Winston could tell the dissatisfaction in Chelsea's tone, but he could only repeat Russell's request.
"I don't have money. Doesn't Mr. Murillo know this better than anyone?" Chelsea sneered.
Russell first suspended her credit card, and then he claimed that she ruined his suit, asking her to pay for it. To put it simply, he was trying to force Chelsea to concede.
Chelsea did not want to argue with Winston and was about to hang up the phone.
Then she heard a familiar voice on the phone.
"Chelsea, you've ruined my suit, don't you think you should do something about it?" Russell grabbed the phone from Winston and said sarcastically.
Chelsea took a deep breath to suppress her rage.
"Sure thing. I will pay for it. Please email the bills to me. Oh, by the way, let me remind you that since we don't have a prenup, I can get fifty percent of your assets after the divorce. I think that will be more than enough to pay the bill. Also, I don't have a job, so you have to pay alimony, Mr. Murillo."
"Is that what you are really after?" Russell sneered. "You're greedier than I thought."
Chelsea clenched her phone and felt suffocating and heartbreaking at the same time.
She knew that in Russell's eyes, she was nothing but a greedy woman. However, hearing those words coming out of his mouth still upset her a lot.
Chelsea suddenly lost interest in arguing with Russell.
She said dejectedly, "Whatever. Anyway, fix the time as soon as possible so that we can get a divorce soon."
"Chelsea!" Russell seemed exasperated by her words, and there was a hint of anger in his voice.
He said, "Who gives you the nerve to divorce me? You want my money? I can make it really hard for you to live in Lorwick!"
"Is that so?" Chelsea smiled mockingly. Then she continued, "I guess you don't care if the stock price goes down when your affair is exposed, Mr. Murillo."
"I don't know what you are talking about," Russell frowned and said.
He figured that Chelsea sounded like a jealous wife.
If she was jealous, would she really want to divorce him?
Russell ruled out the possibility. He thought it might be some new ruse Chelsea had come up with to get his attention.
He said lazily, "I get it now. You don't really want to divorce me. So, just come home and apologize to me. I will spare you from paying for my suit, and you'll get your credit card back."
Chelsea was shocked by Russell's blind confidence.
She shouted back after a few seconds, "You know what? I'm done talking to you!"
Chelsea hung up the phone.
With that, Gisselle asked tentatively, "What's wrong? What did Russell say to piss you off so much?"
"It's nothing. I don't want to talk about that bastard," Chelsea waved her hand and said.
"Then what is your plan?" Gisselle changed the topic.
"Well, I need to make some money." Chelsea sighed.
After the divorce, she had to support herself. Also, once her father found out about her divorce, he would stop paying for her mother's medical bills.
She had to consider the worst-case scenario.
Gisselle looked at Chelsea and said, "Why don't you consider what I just suggested? I really think you'll make a great actress. I was your dream."
Chelsea hugged Gisselle and said, "Well, dreams are expensive. I'd better think about survival first. A studio bought my book and is making a movie out of it. Maybe I can go for the audition."
"Great. See you tonight then." Gisselle checked the time. Then she said, "Good luck."
Gisselle drove away. Chelsea took a taxi to Zephyr Media.
The boss of the company was Broderick, who happened to be Russell's friend.
Unlike Russell, Broderick was not a workaholic. Broderick seldom showed up at the company.
A month ago, Zephyr Media reached out to Chelsea via email and bought the copyright of one of her novels to turn it into a film.
Today, the company was holding an audition for one of the roles.
Though this audition was not about the female lead, this character played a key role in the story. So, it was still very important. Chelsea hoped the director would choose a suitable actress for this role.
The receptionist ushered Chelsea to the audition site. She saw a well-known actress acting out a part of the story in front of the director.
Chelsea frowned since her performance was a bit pompous. She exaggerated the pain of the role she was playing, and it made people feel uncomfortable about it.
The director shouted, "Cut!"
The actress was a bit dissatisfied, since she was interrupted. She said complacently, "You should at least let me finish and show some respect for my effort in playing this role."
Chelsea chuckled.
"Who's there?" The actress immediately glared at Chelsea.
Chelsea spread out her hands and said, "I don't think you can handle the role given your acting skills. You're trying too hard."
"What do you know about acting? No one is asking for your opinion," the actress said as she walked over. "Security? Get her out of here!"
"I don't know much about acting, but I am the scriptwriter," Chelsea said coldly. "So, I bet no one understands this role better than I do."
"You are T.H.?" The director asked in surprise.
Chelsea went by T.H. on social media. She specialized in writing tragic love stories, and she had many followers, but no one knew her true identity.
Today was Chelsea's first visit to Zephyr Media.
Apparently, neither the director nor the actress had expected that Chelsea was the scriptwriter.
"So what?" the actress snorted. "I am a professional actress."
"T.H., why don't you show her the feeling you want to convey?" asked the director in a deliberative tone.
Chelsea thought for a few seconds and then agreed. She wanted to act, too, and she didn't want her script ruined by some incompetent actress.
Chelsea walked up to the director and started to recite the character's lines.
Soon, the actress's expression turned from disdain to surprise.
The director was impressed.
He felt the role was made for Chelsea.
He looked at the actress and then at Chelsea. He thought it would be a shame for Chelsea not to become an actress with her exceptional look.
After Chelsea finished her performance, she remained where she was and looked at the director.
The director patted his thigh and said, "T.H., will you take this role?"
Russell had no idea that Chelsea was nearby. He looked at Joselyn and said, "Yamilet is different. Otherwise, I don't care who I marry since they are all the same to me. Chelsea comes from a plain family, so it's easy for me to deal with her. I just need to buy her something nice from time to time."Chelsea was shocked at his words. She thought, 'Is this why you gave me that watch today?'Chelsea looked up and met Joselyn's eyes. Joselyn looked both content and aggressive. But Chelsea didn't have the courage to return to her seat at this moment and she chose to run away.Chelsea walked quickly to the bathroom, closed the door, and leaned against it.She didn't know why her heart kept throbbing. She tried not to cry.Russell's words echoed in her ears. She only realized now that Russell didn't choose her because she was special. He just thought she was a woman who had never seen the world, and she was easy to control. She stayed outside for more than ten minutes to collect herself. She
Chelsea's temple twitched violently. If not for the fact that she had a request for Russell today, she would have kicked him out of the car right now!Chelsea thought, "All he knows is saying things to annoy me!I will just think that it is a puppy barking!"Chelsea comforted herself. She ignored Russell beside her and sent the edited text to Winston. She told him, "You can go to the shop called Haven Perfumery on Servien Street and buy those spices. They have a variety of spices in their shop. They can prepare the spices you need for you in one go.""Okay, thank you, Mrs. Murillo."Russell was a little bored without receiving Chelsea's response, and then he did not speak again. After about twenty minutes, they arrived at the appointed restaurant. When Chelsea was about to get out of the car, Russell suddenly grabbed her wrist. She subconsciously wanted to pull it back."Don't move!"Russell was very strong, so Chelsea could not move at all. Just as she was about to ask him why, she s
The sudden stop of the call made Russell frown."Russell?" Yamilet called him again.Russell looked up and glanced at her indifferently. He put away the phone and said coldly, "What's it?"Yamilet handed him an exquisitely packaged box and said in a low and somewhat embarrassed voice, "I had nothing to do at home, so I made some pastries for you.""That's it?" Russell did not move and looked up at her.Yamilet felt nervous. She clenched the box tightly and said in a low voice, "No. I want to ask about my work."Russell said faintly, "Don't worry about the things on the Internet. Leave your Twitter to your agent. In a few days, someone from Leayon Entertainment will come to you to sign the contract. When the time comes, cooperate with the propaganda."Yamilet was delighted. She recommended herself to Broderick a few times to dub "Legend", but Broderick refused with just a few words. She had been angry for a long time.It was not that she liked to dub the game, but she did not want to l
Nathan's words drove a sharp nail into Chelsea's broken heart.Chelsea felt her heart gradually turn cold.Chelsea said coldly, "Do you really think Russell will like her? You are a regular at those high-end events as well. Don't you know what those daughters of rich families are like?"Nathan snorted and said, "For the sake of the argument, let's say that you know Russell well. Then tell me. You've been married for years. Why is he still cold to you?""Dad, really? You don't know the answer? Isn't all this the result of your insatiable greed?" Chelsea sneered."Enough! How dare you talk to me like that? For God's sake, I'm your father!" Nathan flew into a rage out of humiliation.Chelsea heard the sound of glass shattering coming from the phone."If you still want to see Russell at your event, you'd better not let Hayley stay here anymore. Otherwise, if Russell rejects your request, don't take it out on me," Chelsea said nonchalantly. After she finished speaking, she tossed the phone
Broderick's words made Russell's anger vanish at once.Russell seldom doubted himself, but right at this moment, he was worried, because he wasn't sure Chelsea had heard their conversation.Russell was in no mood to stay, and he left Broderick's company with a heavy heart. After seeing Russell off, Broderick returned to the company and saw Bryce walking toward him.Broderick looked around and said, "Bryce, there's been a change in the female supporting role.""Come again? I've signed the contract already. Do you have any idea how much the liquidated damages are?" Bryce stared at Broderick as if he had heard some joke.Broderick pushed Bryce into a conference room.Broderick closed the door and said, "Yes, of course I do. Someone will pay for it and might even invest more.""In exchange for what?" Bryce asked with a frown."Make Yamilet the female supporting role," Broderick shrugged and said."But, she can't do it!" Bryce said loudly."My hands are tied. The investor said he would pul
"Seriously? She knows nothing about acting, and you're choosing her over me? You're wasting my time! Don't ever call me again!"The director's words shocked everyone. The actress was the first to come back to her senses. She said angrily and left with her assistant."Are you serious about it?" Chelsea watched the actress leave and found it hard to believe."I'm Bryce," the director smiled and said. "Of course, I'm serious.""Maybe you should give it a second thought. I don't really want to be an actress..." Chelsea wanted to turn Bryce down."An actress makes a lot more money than a scriptwriter," Bryce grinned and interrupted Chelsea."Well, I'll think about it then," Chelsea immediately said.Chelsea was tempted because she needed the money now.Bryce immediately called Ruth, an intern, and asked her to prepare the contract. Then he said to Chelsea, "Let's talk in my office."Ruth ran to the front desk as soon as she left Bryce's office."You know what? The new actress is the movie'
