Chapter 2

작가: Crystal K
"Who approved this?" I grabbed the foreman's arm. "Who gave you permission to destroy this place?"

The man flinched, startled by my intensity. "It… it was Alpha Kael. He signed the papers himself. He said the project was urgent and had to start immediately."

I let go of him and stumbled back.

Kael? He approved it?

"Where is he?" My voice was a low growl.

"At the beach house." The foreman pointed down the hill. "He arrived this morning. He was inspecting the progress with Lady Isabella."

I turned and ran.

Rage burned like a wildfire in my chest.

I spent six months designing that garden.

I ordered every single moonpetal myself. I chose every stone.

It was Aria’s 18th birthday present.

And now, just three months after her death, Kael was destroying it for another woman's son.

I raced down the slope. The beach house came into view, lit up against the night sky.

Lights were on. I could hear voices inside.

As I reached the yard, a scene in front of me made me freeze.

A boy, maybe ten years old, was squatting on the lawn. He was holding a small white rabbit.

The rabbit was struggling, letting out terrified squeals.

"Stop it!" I yelled, rushing forward and snatching the rabbit from his grasp.

The boy looked up at me, his face hostile.

His canines were already elongated, far too sharp for a ten-year-old.

"Who are you?" he demanded, getting to his feet. He was already almost as tall as me. "What gives you the right?"

"What gives me the right?" I clutched the injured rabbit, glaring at him. "This is my island!"

The boy’s lips curled into a cruel smile. "Wrong. It's my dad's island. He said it's all mine."

My heart stopped.

Dad? Who was he talking about? Kael?

"Leo! What are you doing out here?"

A soft, feminine voice called from the villa. A woman stepped outside.

I knew her instantly.

Isabella.

She was still beautiful. Her long, golden hair cascaded down her back. Her body was still perfect.

But when she saw me, a triumphant smirk touched her lips.

"Selena?" she said, feigning surprise. "What are you doing here?"

"I should be asking you that," I said, standing tall and holding the rabbit tight. "What are you doing on my island?"

Footsteps echoed from inside the villa.

Kael appeared in the doorway. His face went white when he saw me.

"Selena? You… why are you here?" His voice was laced with panic.

"I came to see my daughter's garden," I said, my words sharp and deliberate. "But it seems someone is destroying it."

Kael’s gaze darted between me and Isabella. "I can explain—"

"Explain what?" I cut him off, striding toward them. "Explain why you destroyed Aria's garden behind my back? Why you let another woman's son take over my daughter’s sanctuary?"

"Aria is gone," Kael said, his voice turning to stone. "This island can't just sit here and go to waste. Leo needs a place to train—"

"Leo?" I looked at the boy. He was hiding behind Isabella, but his eyes were still full of malice. "Who is he?"

"Selena, please, calm down." Isabella stepped forward, her face a mask of false sympathy. "I know you're grieving, but Leo is just a child. He's not well. He needs a special environment to build his strength."

"Not well?" I stared at the tall boy who was just tormenting a rabbit. "He looks perfectly healthy."

"You don't understand." Isabella shook her head, tears welling in her eyes. "Leo has a… condition he was born with. This facility is his only chance to get stronger."

"So you destroy my daughter's memorial?" My voice rose. "You destroy the garden she loved?"

"Those flowers were dying," Kael's voice was cold as ice. "No one was here to tend to them. It's better to build something useful than to let this place rot."

I felt like I'd been struck by lightning.

"Useful?" I looked at him in disbelief. "That was Aria's garden! Her memories! How could you give it to such a naturally cruel child?"

Isabella burst into tears almost immediately.

"Apologize to Isabella," he commanded, using the tone an Alpha uses on a subordinate. "Now."

Selena’POVThree days later. The High Council of the Northern Packs. In the silver, circular hall, twelve elders sat on a high dais. They were the most powerful figures in the werewolf world, each the head of an ancient and powerful bloodline.I stood in the center, facing their questioning gazes."Selena Moonshadow," the Chief Elder's voice echoed through the hall. "You have requested an emergency tribunal. On what grounds?""Murder," I said, my voice clear and steady. "Alpha Kael of the Black Moon Pack murdered my daughter, Aria."A murmur went through the crowd.Kael's reputation was immense. No one wanted to believe such an accusation."Do you have proof?" another elder asked.I held up a data slate."I have complete testimonies and video evidence."The giant screen in the hall lit up.First came the confessions of the six rogues. On camera, they detailed the entire plan: the fake attack, the delivery of the body, the handover to the dark sorcerer. Then came the video. When the ima

Kael's POVI walked toward the medical center, carrying a bowl of hot calming broth. It had been three weeks.Same time, same routine, same devoted care.Selena's memory was still fragmented. But at least she wasn't asking about Aria's death anymore. She wasn't crying herself to sleep. The doctor said she was getting better.I told myself the same thing."Good afternoon, Alpha," the nurse greeted me respectfully."Is Selena in?""She said she wanted to rest. She asked not to be disturbed." The nurse replied. "She's been in her room since last night."I frowned. That wasn't like her. Not lately."I'll just check on her."I walked to her room and knocked gently."Selena? It's me. I brought you some broth."No answer."Selena?" I pushed the door open. The room was empty. The blankets on the bed were neatly folded, as if no one had slept there. The window was wide open, the curtains fluttering in the breeze.Just then, a searing pain ripped through my chest. I almost collapsed. The bowl cr

The moment the mate bond snapped, my soul was torn in two.Pain exploded in my chest, a thousand silver needles piercing my heart.I fell to my knees in front of the burning hall and coughed up blood. But this pain was nothing compared to losing my daughter.I forced myself to my feet, calling on the power that slept in my bloodline. The blood of the Moon Goddess. The legacy of a family of healers. A silver light enveloped me, masking my scent.Kael would never know. The mate he always underestimated possessed a power so ancient and strong.I vanished into the night.Three days later. Las Vegas.A city of neon lights, where humans and werewolves lived side-by-side."Caesars Palace, penthouse suite," the bounty hunter's voice crackled over the phone. "Six targets. All accounted for.""Good." I stood on the roof of a building across the street, watching. "Proceed as planned."Eight guards stood behind me.They were my family's elite, their loyalty absolute."Ma'am, when do we move?" the

"You killed my daughter."My voice was a whisper from hell, each word dripping with blood.Kael scrambled back, his eyes wide with terror. "Selena, let me explain—""Explain?" I lunged forward and wrapped my hand around his throat, my nails digging into his skin. "Explain how you murdered my child?""I didn't murder her!" Kael choked out, struggling for air. "Aria was dying! The silver bullet hit her heart. She was going to die anyway!""So you took her wolf spirit while she was still alive?" My grip tightened. "You let her die in even more agony?""I was saving Leo!" Kael's face turned purple."Aria was your daughter!""Wasn't she adopted by us? She wasn't my blood!" Kael finally roared the truth. "Her spirit could save Leo. That was the only thing she was good for!"I let go. I stumbled back, staring at this stranger."Eighteen years." My voice shook. "We raised her for eighteen years.""We can raise Leo as our own," Kael gasped, rubbing his throat. "Isabella is willing to let me ado

I threw open the door to Aria's room. The sight before me made my heart stop.It was a wasteland. The silk sheets on the bed were shredded. The vanity mirror was shattered on the floor. But the worst part was the glittering fragments scattered across the carpet.Aria's memorial necklace. The one made from her first baby tooth, set with a moonstone.Smashed.Crushed underfoot."No..." I dropped to my knees, my hands trembling as I tried to pick up the pieces. In the corner, the hand-stitched ceremonial gown was torn to ribbons.A Pack elder had spent six months on that gown. Every stitch was a blessing."How dare you...""Selena?" Isabella's voice came from the doorway.I turned, my eyes burning with murderous rage."Did you do this?""Oh, that junk?" Isabella said dismissively, her tone laced with disgust. "Leo was just playing and made a mess. It's not like she can use any of it anymore, can she?"It's not like she can use any of it anymore. The words plunged into my heart like a pois

"Apologize to Isabella."Kael’s words hit me like a whip. The Alpha command made my wolf spirit cringe, but my mind was on fire.I stared at the man before me.The man I had loved. The man I had given everything for."Apologize? You want me to apologize to the woman who destroyed my daughter's garden?""Selena—""Shut up!" I snapped, the fire in my eyes finally erupting. "What right do you have to command me?"I looked at Kael's panicked face as memories flooded back.Twelve years ago. That rainy night. When I found him in the forest, what did he say?"Please, save me... I swear I'll love you forever. You'll be my only Luna."His voice was so desperate. So sincere.I believed him.I used my healing gifts to save his life. I helped him rebuild his Pack. I helped him build a healing empire and open the moonstone mines. I turned the Black Moon Pack from the brink of extinction into one of the most powerful forces in North America. And what did I get?Twelve years of waiting. Twelve years
