Chapter 18

last update Last Updated: 2025-12-27 07:22:56

I stand up and say a thank you to everyone for attending.

I give a speech about how much my parents meant to everyone, and how much they will be missed by all who loved them. As I am speaking. I see someone on the second floor of the room. He is standing in the distance, I almost think it’s Ralph, but I am not sure. Ralph wouldn’t know my families arrangements. There’s no way it could be him. He’s only there for what looks like a second then, he’s gone. It happens so fast, I feel like I am seeing things.

“There are bigger things at play, than you have any idea about” my grandmother says to me.

“What do you mean?” I ask her worried. She looks at the Hofer’s, they are staring at grandma, almost like telling her to stay quiet.

“I cannot say right now but, do not think that the history of Gabrielle is buried. There is more to the story than I have told anyone.” She says. She stands and walks away. I am left dumbfounded. She only spoke riddles yet; I feel a chill in my bones. I shuddered at the possible implications. There’s no way it’s the same person. It has to be a copycat that is still taking revenge on my family.

“I heard that Gabrielle was guarding a secret, according to rumor.”

“Do not pay attention to rumors my child.” She said as I followed after her. I felt like I needed answers to a hidden identity that’s been kept from me.  I watched her step into a car and drive away. I stare at the empty roadway in front of me for several moments. It feels like time stands still. I walk back inside and have some drinks to drowned my uneasy feeling.

I decide to call it a day. I head back to the hotel. I arrange my departure. I gather all my new clothes, with my new luggage and prepare to leave. I realized now at last minute. I meant to arrange a place to stay in Normandy but, had not done it yet.

I call down to the lobby and extend my stay for another week. I am surprised to learn that my stay has been completely paid for, and it has been extended until next month free of charge. I can only think of Ralph.

I go onto G****e and search for homes for purchase in Normandy France. I found an adorable cabin for five hundred thousand. I love the look, and how it’s in a lovely meadow. I arranged for the purchase and arranged for a new BMW car to also be available once I arrive.

I arranged first class tickets for an airline that was headed for ‘Cherbourg” a port city in France in the Normandy region. My ancestors estate was north of there at “Mont Saint-Michele”

I chose a small countryside house thirty minutes away from my Grand mothers house. I am very thankful that I have kept my passport updated. I have been to Germany, Mexico, Japan and a few other countries. I spend the rest of the week after the funeral making sure that everything is situated. I am grateful to his service but, I want to be in France soon.

I take my leave to check out once I am made aware that all arrangements are made. I also am excited to receive an email. I had contact the “French Historical Society”. I had informed them of who I was and my profession. I inquired about any possible work opportunities. They are excited for me to arrive. They say they are working with a legal office in Paris on the preservation and restoration of a Chateau near the area I am inquiring. Information is confidential and the Chateau is owned by a private family. A affiliate of the family is looking to restore the decaying Chateau back to life, in my memory of his ancestor.

This sounds really familiar however, I do not want to jump to conclusions. There’s a number of these scenarios in France considering how ancient the country is. I tell them I am interested. They tell me they will keep me informed.

I arrange a ride, and head towards the airport with a sense of hope for new opportunities.

The rest of the Hofer family had cleared the area. Except for Walter. I saw him hiding in the crowd. He was staring at the scene in bitterness. There was a sneer on his face. He ran towards Rudolph at the battle arena. Ralph was hurt; he was prime target to easily kill. I lived through so much, I was not losing him.“WALTER!” I roared. He stopped and stared at me. There was fear in his eyes, he looked pale for a moment.“Oh Goddess, of bullshit! You think you can come back! Never!” he bellowed as he threw a spear at me. I hit the ground to get out of the way. I heard a groan from behind me. The spear had hit my grandfather.“No!” I ran towards him and held him as his life faded from his eyes.“I love you buttercup. I am so sorry, I never told you.” He said as he breathed his last. I cried in sorrow. I reached back with the power of the goddess I knew was flowing inside of me. I grabbed Walter by the throat like a Sith as he was about to perform a killing blow to Rudolph. He choked as

I heard the roar of pain, rage and my eternal salvation. I felt the ground quake. I had left the mental door open for Rudolph to hear everything. With eyes slipping closed, I saw the castle walls being ripped open like the wrath of the earth and powerful force was being slammed into the room. The walls ripped open. Broken, and bleeding I saw Rudolph in all his eternal glory. His eyes were the color of fire, ablaze with revenge with the need for revenge his been seeking for the last thousand years. The constant betrayal of his family cut deep. I saw Victor Hofer and several others storming into the room. I saw an invisible power pick up Edgar and rip him away from me. He flew several yards and hit an ancient building. He screamed in anger. Several vampires were surrounding me and snarling at Conrad and Silas.“Get her out of here!” Rudolph roared to one of them. Fredrick came to me as I was coughing up blood.“Oh my God! Miss Katie! Forgive me!” he bellowed as tears streamed down his f

My mind drifted, and I came back to reality. I glance through my half-closed eye lids and notice, he’s not the only one in the room. Conrad and Edgar are also there. Hovering over my body. I open my eyes; they already probably know that I am awake. I try to pull on the chains, and I stare at Edgar with a defiant look. He stares back at me. They all stop their sexual probing of me. Conrad and Silas take step back at Edgars physical command, when he holds up his hand.“So, this seems familiar, only different. How do we fucking kill you and make sure you don’t come back?” Edgar says. I smirked, then I spit in his face. He smirks then slaps me hard enough across the face, that I feel like jaw crack. I steel my reserve. I will not scream in pain to their delight.”“Why me?” I ask through the pain.“That’s a good question, you don’t know do you ?” I stare at him.“Lover boy hasn’t told you?” Conrad said with a snicker.“You’re descendant from a powerful deity. She fell in love with someone

The left side of my head feels sticky and has the most throbbing. I feel like someone just hit me with a Mack truck. My eyes are groggy but begin to focus around the room. I am no long bathed in the darkness of where I was but, I am still not in good shape, I look down trying to focus my eyes. I left eye can barely open. Whoever hit me must have given me a black eye, on top of knocking me the fuck out.I look around. I am in a bedroom I do not recognize. It looks ancient, the design looks it’s a medieval castle bedchamber room. The bed is large enough to fit a dozen people but, there’s dust everywhere. It shows, it has not been used in forever. There is a faint glow of a light in the room. As if it is lit with a torch or candles. I feel hands roaming around me. I lay still. It feels also, like I cannot move my legs? Did they break them or something

I remember Ralpha left telling me to stay in the house. Before leaving, as an escape route, he removed the stone from the entrance of the tunnel. He told me if anything happened. I could escape to the tunnel. Find a chamber room and lock myself in or hide in the mansion. I nodded, grateful for an escape I can rely on. He told me to call him if I can, if anything happens. That was a few hours ago. He said that he was going to arrange with Fredrick and the Hofer family our trip to Germany. He needed to prepare the vampire counsel of my presence as well. He said that not everyone would be on board with a human being included into his world. He said that if they knew I am intending to one day change and become queen that would settle them down.He said there has not been a vampire royal couple. King and Queen since his parents. His parents were killed six hundred years ago during the Middle Ages. Humans during that time were more aware of vampire creatures and were not accepting. There we

We start getting dressed. He looks outside and checks to make sure the coast is clear. He calls on his phone to Fredrick and speaks with him. When he is done, he tells me that Conrad and Edgar no longer appear to be in the area. I should be safe. I breath a sigh of relief.“You can’t stay here right now.” He tells me.“I honestly never wanted to. Too much has happened to me here to want to be here.”“You will be here eventually but, right now I need to keep you safe. You’re coming with me to Germany.” He tells me with finality. I look at him in surprise. I am going with him to the Hofer family estate. If he’s really the same one who was with Gabrielle, this means I am going to the “Lord Hofer” estate where he was once a person of German royalty. The amount of German historical ancestry this is, I am nervous and excited.“In my vision, they were saying that you called a ‘Vampire King’ of Germany?” I ask him he looks at me warily.“Yes, that is true, you don’t need to worry about it. th
