Evelyn Pov
I had never felt lighter than I did that afternoon. The doctor’s words still echoed in my ears — "congratulations, you’re five weeks pregnant." Pregnant. Our baby. Mine and Ethan’s. I stepped out of the car, clutching the brown envelope with the ultrasound results, my heart pounding with joy. When I spotted Ethan’s car already in the driveway, a smile spread across my face. He was home early. Perfect.. I almost tripped in my heels as I ran inside, my excitement carrying me faster than my feet could handle. “Ethan!” I called, laughing as I took the stairs two at a time. I could already picture his expression — that perfect smile, the way his arms would wrap around me, the promises we’d whisper about our future. ......But then the envelope slipped from my hand. "Ahhh… Ethan… yes…" A choked gasp, raw and sharp, sliced the air. "More… oh fuck, more…" The bedroom door was slightly ajar. I froze. My breath caught. My pulse roared in my ears as I leaned closer, hoping I was wrong. Hoping my ears were lying. But they weren’t. And my eyes confirmed it. Ethan was inside. Naked. Muscles glistening with sweat. His body moving hard, fast, and rough. But not with me. Not with any woman. With a man. My husband was gay. I wanted to scream. To burst into the room, to demand answers. But my feet were frozen. My chest ached. My pulse thundered in my ears. Ethan’s face twisted with pleasure—never like this with me. Never like this. My heart shattered in slow motion, a sharp, unbearable ache. The man was laying flat on his chest on the bed, head turned towards the left. He was moaning like a whore, encouraging Ethan to fuck him harder. His fingers were gripping the bedsheet hard as Ethan was pounding deep and hard into him. Moans filled the room blending with Ethan’s groans as he thrust deeper, faster. "Fuck yes, that's it," the whore's voice gasped, raw with pleasure. "You're so good. I'm almost there. Keep going, please, just like that." "Tell me you love this," Ethan's voice rasped, guttural. "Tell me you want every inch of me." Ethan demanded. The whore's hips rose, a wild, desperate offering. "I want it all," he shuddered, a choked sound. " Ethan tilted his head back, eyes closed, breath coming fast. “Fuck, I’m close,” he groaned. His body tensed, a final, brutal thrust. "You got it, baby." My stomach twisted. My vision blurred. I couldn’t breathe. The brown envelope lay forgotten at my feet, the proof of the life growing inside me. The life I thought would bind us forever. * * * * * * I carried the tray into the dining room, my hands steady even though my chest burned like fire. The food, the cake — all of it had been meant to celebrate our baby. Now it sat heavy in my grip, a cruel joke. I set the table carefully, forcing myself to hum softly as if nothing was wrong. The clinking of plates filled the silence until I heard footsteps behind me. “H-how long have you been home?” Ethan’s voice came from behind me, strained. I looked up slowly. He stood there, shirt hastily buttoned, sweat still on his brow. His eyes darted everywhere but mine, fear written all over his face. I looked up at him, acting surprised. “Ohh you're home. I just got in.” His breath eased, shoulders relaxing. Then I saw the man beside him. My stomach dropped. “Daniel?” I blurted, eyes locking on Ethan’s secretary. I forced my lips into a small, polite smile, the kind a hostess would give a guest she hadn’t expected. “Oh, Daniel… I didn’t realize you were here.” He stiffened, guilt flashing across his face, but I acted as if nothing was unusual. I picked up the knife and began cutting the cake, my movements calm, steady, almost cheerful. “Since you’re here, you might as well join us,” I said smoothly. “I was going to surprise Ethan with a little celebration.” Neither of them spoke. The silence pressed against my skin, but I didn’t let it show. Instead, I set three plates on the table. “Sit,” I said with a smile that didn’t reach my eyes. Ethan didn’t touch the food. “I’m busy,” he muttered, standing too quickly. He slipped an arm around Daniel, helping him walk. Daniel’s steps were unsteady, his face pale, his shirt half tucked. At the door, I forced a soft smile. “Daniel, what happened to you?” “Uh… I slipped earlier,” he lied without blinking. “You should take a day off to take care of yourself.” I said smoothly, my tone calm though my chest ached. Daniel nodded, avoiding my eyes. "We should get going. " Ethan hurried him out.Alexander Veylor – POV I laughed before I even spoke. They never learn. I leaned back in my chair with my wine glass in hand, watching the city lights outside my office window. My assistant stood a few steps away, holding a tablet, waiting. “They really thought they could steal from me and walk away,” I said. I took a sip of wine. Mark glanced at his screen. “Sir, Horizon Tech is all over the news right now.” I looked at him. “Read it.” He nodded and started. “Horizon Tech is being investigated for stealing intellectual property from companies linked to Veylor Corporations. Reports say they used stolen designs and filed fake patents. Investors are pulling out. The company is losing value quickly.” I let out a short laugh. “So it’s already falling apart.” Mark continued. “Analysts say the company might collapse completely if the investigation continues.” I set my glass down. “Good.” I stood up and walked toward the window. “They didn’t just steal,” I sai
Evelyn – POV I woke up to sunlight brushing against my face, warm but cruel. For a moment, I didn’t remember where I was. Then the blanket wrapped around me, the faint smell of coffee, and the quiet of Clara’s apartment reminded me. Reality crashed in again. Ethan. The house, Ethan’s laugh, the papers, the slap. My chest clenched so tight I could barely breathe. I curled deeper into the blanket Clara had wrapped around me last night, pressing my palm against my stomach. My baby. My child. The one thing Ethan would never take from me. “Finally awake?” Clara’s voice came softly from the kitchen. I turned my head. She was standing there in jeans and a loose shirt, her hair tied back. She held a mug in her hand, her eyes studying me carefully, like I might break all over again. I sat up slowly, the blanket slipping off my shoulders. My body ached, my heart even more. “I… I didn’t mean to sleep here,” I whispered, my throat rough. Clara walked over and set the mug down in
Evelyn – POV Blinding headlights. A loud horn. My body froze in the middle of the road. I couldn’t move—fear had me chained. Tears blurred my vision as the car screeched to a halt just inches away. My chest heaved. My knees buckled, and I dropped down, gasping for air, clutching at nothing as if it could steady me. “Miss! Are you okay?!” The driver’s voice rang out as the car door slammed shut. I lifted my head, my breaths still ragged. A man was running toward me, his face lined with worry. “You almost ran me over,” I managed, my voice hoarse, my body shaking. “I’m so sorry,” he said quickly, hands raised like he was pleading. “Please, let me take you to the hospital. You’re not alright.” The cold night gnawed at my skin. My thin nightgown clung to me, my bare feet stung against the rough road, and I couldn’t stop trembling. I forced myself to stand, even though my legs felt like they could collapse again. “I’m fine,” I muttered, turning away. “Wait—” he started, bu
Evelyn pov Ethan moved in front of me, his hand gripping mine. “We’ll talk about all that tomorrow,” he said smoothly. “But for now… it’s late. We should sleep.” I yanked my hand free, stepping back. My voice was sharp, venomous. “I will never lay on that dirty bed. You disgust me, Ethan. How can you expect me to sleep in the same bed you—” The words barely left my mouth before a sharp slap landed on my cheek. Pain exploded across my face, and tears poured freely. I had never imagined he would raise his hand on me. “I’m sorry,” Ethan muttered, his voice low. I cut him off, my voice shaking but fierce. “Leave my house. You’re fired from BR Corporations. Everything that is mine… is mine, not yours.” He paused, a dangerous laugh escaping him. “Sorry to tell you, Evelyn… you don’t have that power.” My chest tightened. “What…?” He leaned closer, his eyes cold. “Because I am the owner of all your properties, all your inheritance. I own your clothes, your money, Company … eve
Evelyn – POV I dialed her number again. No answer. My chest tightened. The last time we spoke, we had argued. Clara had tried to warn me about Ethan, but I hadn’t listened. I was too blinded by love. Too stubborn to believe her. Now, I needed her more than ever. I called again. Straight to voicemail. Fine. If she wouldn’t answer, then I would go to her. Minutes later, I was at her café, the familiar bell over the door chiming as I walked in. The smell of roasted coffee beans filled the air, but it did nothing to steady me. I pulled one of the waiters aside, forcing my voice steady. “Tell Clara… someone’s here to see her.” The worker nodded and left. I slipped into a corner table, sinking into the seat like I was hiding from the world. Tears spilled before I could stop them, hot trails down my cheeks. No matter how hard I tried, I couldn’t control it. The café buzzed with soft chatter, but all I could hear was the sound of my own breaking heart. I could barely see throu
