CHAPTER 14

I was sitting on the couch and Connor was kneeling in front of me while I held him tight and sobbed into his shoulder. He wrapped his arms around me lightly, trying not to hurt me but rubbing my back at the same time.

“What are you talking about? I don’t understand.” Connor says to me.

“My father killed my mother. She told me.” I sobbed out.

“It was just a dream. I mean, it might not be true.” Connor says. But I knew that it was. It was a dream, but it was more than that. My mother came to me. She warned me. She needed me to know what was going to happen when my father found me. She told me to stay close to Connor. That I would need all the protection that I could get. He was going to come for me. I don’t know now because his pack aren’t warriors. They’re a joke. But that doesn’t mean that he won’t find other ways of getting me. I knew that to be true. He was a monster. A manipulative monster.

I shook my head, letting Connor know that he was wrong.

“She came to me. She told me t
