Chapter 29: We don’t kill family

The silence in the room was loud. Isabella's face was corroded with a vile smirk. She knows Alessa never saw that coming. Alessa was standing still, her face pale. She couldn’t even move a muscle. It seemed as though she had gone into a paralytic state.

Isabella held her shoulders and began speaking, “You see why I want what is best for you?” She said bending her head to see Alessa's face completely. “He left us, he abandoned you, and now I want to bring everything you should’ve had back to you. I intend to bring the world you deserve to your feet”

Alessa was still lost for words. She shrugged her shoulders to release herself from Isabella’s grip. She went over to the velvet oversized armchair in the room and sat and folded her hands between her legs.

Isabella went to stand by her. “You don’t have to think much about it. I know it’s a lot to process right now, so I think I should just leave you to it,” she said as she began walking towards the door. “I will be back later.”

“Wait…!”

Marco drove straight to the mansion to see his father. He was furious about everything that had happened, and the thought that much of what had happened could be traced back to Rafael’s betrayal. “Che cosa speri persino di guadagnare da quello?” (What do you even hope to gain from that?)“Cosa possono darti che la famiglia non ti darà?” (What can they give you that family won’t?) Marco kept asking out loud as though his brother were there. Marco was furious, but kept his mind clear and focused on the road as he drove down to his family home. His blood-stained shirt hugged his body tightly as it was really drenched in Rafael’s blood. He passed slowly through the grand gates of the Vincenzo mansion as he got to them. The compound was swarming with maids in white and black apparel, and security men who seemed entirely focused.“Il padre deve avere un visitatore importante in giro.” (Father must have a notable visitor around)Marco thought to himself as he parked his car. Marco had par

Alessa's phone buzzed, and a message showed up on her screen. She picked up the phone to check the text she’d gotten. It was a text from Marco. She unlocked her phone and read the text, “Rafael is the mole. Isabella is Vittorio’s biological daughter.” It was a short and concise text with more weight than a thousand-word essay. Alessa sat quietly, her lips tightly sealed, as she had nothing to say.“Knock, knock,” came the knocking sound on the door of her room. She became alert. “ Who’s there?” she asked as she sat erect from the bed. “I’m the one, La mia sorellina,” Isabella answered from the door. “I have something for you”Alessa reluctantly stood from the bed and walked to the door. “What do you want now?” She asked as she opened the door. Her countenance did little to hide her discomfort. She would rather not be there, she just wanted to go back to her life, to being Alessa Romano, the skilled assassin who lived independently. “I just came to talk. What is wrong with you, did yo

Marco stood at the entrance of The Fezalaro Club and scanned the interior of the club with his eyes in search of Lita, but he couldn’t catch sight of her, so he went into the club to look better. Inside, he ordered a glass of water, which he sipped while keeping watch. He saw one of the men who walked into the club with Lita Romano coming out of a secluded area of the club and immediately knew she would be there. But how does he get there? He thought to himself. Marco followed the lean, tall guy who had been with Lita as he came out of the clubhouse. He followed at a good distance and made sure he wasn’t alerting his prey that he was following him. When they got to the lonely private garage of The Fezalaro Club, Luca doubled his pace to approach the man. As the man noticed Marco was approaching him hastily, he pulled his weapon from a holster on his waist and turned around, but he was too slow and Luca had already closed in on him. Marco landed a heavy backhand blow on the side of

Isabella’s deadline was fast approaching and Alessa, knowing her well enough, knows she’ll keep her word and kill Antonio. What could she do now? She thought to herself, but nothing came to mind. She knew she had to take herself to Isabella if Antonio had to walk free. “I will go to Isabella tomorrow,” she said, finally breaking the loud silence that had been in the penthouse ever since she asked about Carlo Salvatore. “I don’t have any other choice. Isabella wants me, so I might just go to her.”“No, that is not going to happen!” Marco said, in an almost roaring voice, as he stood up from the sofa where he sat. He didn’t realize the bottle of champagne he was drinking was still in his hands. “What other choice do we have?” Alessa asked genuinely. Marco's grip tightened on the bottle of champagne as he realized he held the bottle in his hand. “I don’t know… yet. We have to figure something out. Going to the cagna is too dangerous.” He placed the champagne bottle down on the table,

Carlo Salvatore was a man of contradictions, a monster whom many mistook for a saint, a killer. Standing at 6'4", he carried himself like the beast he was. His skin was a drawing board of violence, marked by knife scars from knife fights and gunshot wounds. A black spiderweb tattoo crawled up the left side of his neck, with which an inscription of a faded barcode LF-117, was covered. The barcode and the spiderweb tattoo were the only remnants of a past he’d burned to the ground. His eyes told a heavy real story. One was milky white and blinded, blinded in a long-forgotten knife fight. He never hid his dead eye from the world. As he would always say he let people see through his gaze and tell what sort of man he was: a man who could look with compassion but had no mercy at all. Carlo Salvatore was what many would describe as unyielding. He was brutal and enigmatic. He had a fast rise through the ranks in I Signori Della Notte because of his commitment and dedication. No one, absolute
