Chapter 7

Jennie

How could they dress themselves like this? I feel so exposed. Tyee, "Alpha" Tyee is just standing there with such a stern face. I have no idea what he's thinking, I wish he would say something.

"Should we make our way out, I'm sure you're people are expecting you" I said it in a low voice hoping that we can just get this night over with.

I started to walk out with my hand on the hide that acted like a door, before he grabbed my hand and gently pulled me towards him.

"They are our people now, you are a Luna." He grabbed one of the small white flowers in my hair readjusting it. "You are breath taking."

I lifted my eyes to meet Tyees gaze. It felt like he was using his eyes to molest my very body. My skin prickled at the thought. I felt this pull towards him that I couldn't explain. His eyes landed back on mine, then placing a gentle hand over my face to cup my chin. He started to pull me in before the flap to the entrance opened and he let go. There was a man with a similar build to my new husband with long black hair, he wore a tan vest with nothing underneath and long brown pants with no shoes. He was handsome in his own right.

"Jennie, this is Ahanu, he is my best friend." I held out my hand but he did not return the favor.

"Pleased to meet you, I hope we can become well acquainted." Ahanu just stared back at me, creating the most uncomfortable atmosphere. When finally he shook his head and laughed.

"I'm just playing around with you Luna! I like to keep people on their toes."

I gave a little laugh "Well then I hope I can return the favor."

He smiled at me and gave me a slight nod. "I just came in to tell you, your pack is ready for you."

I followed Tyee out, holding his hand. I didn't want to let go of the stranger guiding me. We made our way down through the children laughing and playing and men and women greeting us "Alpha... Luna..." We finally landed into a clearing that was decorated with torches along the perimeter and flower decorations encompassing the area and soft green grass, with a large bonfire in the middle. There were a few people off to the side that appeared to be roasting what I assume to be a pig and I noticed the men and women are separated by the fire. When we got closer a girl, who appeared to be my age, with hair so black, it looked blue and striking features came and grabbed my free hand. I tightened my grip on Tyees hand and looked at him pleading, I do not want to be separated from the only person I know. Tyee nodded in her direction.

"It's just until everyone gets here then we'll enjoy the night and dance around the fire. Nokomis can give you a drink to relax but try not to drink too much it might make you feel funny."

I nodded my head and followed behind this pretty girl, come to think of it everyone that I’ve seen here is fairly attractive. "What's your name again?"

She turned back to me "I'm Nokomis, come on I'll introduce you to everyone and I can get you a cup."

I nodded and followed her to the other women who were all either sitting or standing. Nokomis waved as we approached.

"Women of the Blood Moon Pack, this is our new Luna, may she guide us in strength and wisdom."

Nobody said anything, I could hear the cackle of the fire, as if it was laughing at me. Nokomis handed me a cup of who knows what and I slammed it. Hopefully this has a similar affect to whiskey because I need it. After I finished the cup, I looked up to find all the women staring at me before I raised my cup "Cheers.. I'll have another." All the women started to cheer and others laughed. Okay, not so bad, I can do this.

 I sat around the fire with the women sharing stories. All of these women are so strong, how am I supposed to be their, what? Their Luna? I took another sip of my drink, I think this is my fourth or fifth one. I started to search across the fire for Tyee. Music I’ve never heard before, with instruments I’ve never seen, filled the air. I see Tyee seated on a log, he was playing with a young boy, spinning him around, and a smile danced across his face, the fire made his skin glow brighter.

He looked up at me and gave me a heartfelt smile. Bloody hell, he caught me staring. I glanced back down at my cup, trying to gain the courage to actually maintain eye contact this time but when I looked up, he was gone.

I turned my head to look for him but he was already in front of me. How did he get over here that fast? He leaned forward and held out his hand.

"It's time to dance." I put my hand in his and set my cup down with the other when he pulled me tightly to him. "Do you know what we call, what you’re drinking?"

I shook my head.

He leaned down to speak into my ear, still holding me. "We call it fire water, for many reasons. It either lights a fire in you to fight or to love. It also burns like fire when you drink it"

I laughed for the first in a week and he pulled back smiling. "So you do smile." I taunted him.

He let out a playful sigh. "Only for the right person, now time to dance." He grabbed my hand and lead me around the fire before I could protest.

"Just follow what I'm doing."

I nodded my head and watched as he stepped in rhythm with music, we were side by side as he held my hand. I copied his steps the best I could, focused on not embarrassing myself. We circled three times before everyone applauded. I smiled to the crowd around us and I could feel my face flush. Tyee raised our hands together and everyone cheered and let out howls.

Tyee turned me back to him, whispering "Let me walk you back to our house, you must be tired."

I almost forgot that I was now sharing a home with this man. We turned and started walking away from the festivities, with everyone dancing now. Tyee took my arm and tucked it into his. "We are leaving tomorrow, just us for 3 days to get to know one another away from our responsibilities."

My eyes widened. " Like a honeymoon?"

He shook his head. “I don’t know what that is.”

I was trying to focus on my steps, trying not to stumble. Turns out fire water is exactly like whiskey. "So tell me, did you drink any fire water tonight?” I asked, trying to not stutter my words.

Tyee nodded his head. “ I had a few cups.”

I giggled before asking the next question “ So tell me, were you a man that wanted to fight tonight or did you want to love?”

Tyee stopped in his tracks. "Maybe a little of both."

Tyee spun me in so my hands rested on his bare chest, then he grabbed my face pulling it into his and his lips smashed against mine before softening. Tyee slowly pulled away and I opened my eyes and before I knew it I was returning the kiss. My hands wrapped around his neck deepening my kiss. I was starting to get lost in his kiss when I had to pull back to let a hiccup out. Yup, just like whiskey. 

"I guess it really does give light a fire." * hiccup*

Tyee laughed. "Yes it does my little wolf."

I think I like that name. We continued to walk back to our home when Tyee opened the flap letting me inside. He started moving blankets on the floor next to the bed.

"What are you doing?" Tyee was flattening out a fur.

"I'm making my bed."

Does he not want to sleep in bed with me? Do I smell?

"I figured since it's our first night together and we never met before this, you might be more comfortable if I sleep on the floor tonight."

I was undoing my fur robe when Tyee came up behind me to help.

"Thank you, I think that would be for the best." Tyee kissed the nape of my neck sending chills down my spine.

The fur dropped onto the floor. I almost forgot the dress did not have much of a back, when I felt his fingers trailing down my spine. Not wanting this to go any further yet, I didn't turn around but just walked straight into bed. I heard him lay down on his make shift bed.

"Thank you Tyee." I heard him roll over.

"You're my Luna, I would never do anything you wouldn't want me to do." Tyee paused for a moment. "No matter how badly I want to. Now go to bed little wolf we have to journey in the morning."
