LOGINThe salty air blew against my face in the breeze. Seagulls called out to each other as they flew above everyone, peeking down in search of food. The boiling sun beamed from above, casting bright light and heat."I'm not used to this weather," Samantha muttered as she brought her hand above her face, trying to shade her eyes from the sun. I chuckled as she grumbled to herself. She rolled up the sleeves of her shirt up to her shoulders."It's so hot! I might as well walk around in my undergarments." I rolled my eyes at her, but didn't bother hiding the smile. I'm used to the heat, so it doesn't really bother me. But I can't blame them. She didn't pack the appropriate attire for this kind of weather, which is why we are going shopping. At the moment she was wearing a short-sleeved shirt, which, by the way, was the color black, and a pair of black pants that went down to her knees. Her auburn hair was twisted up into a bun on her head, so I could see the beads of sweat forming on her fore
My eyes watered as I yawned. I blinked, finding my eyes staying closed longer than necessary. The car was silent since Darian fell asleep after he finished pigging on his food. My eyes began drooping, wanting to fully close so that I could drift off into a peaceful slumber. But, to my dismay, I couldn't. I really should've made Darian drive, but the thought of him driving my car made me immediately dismiss the idea. My eyes drifted over to Samantha. She promised me she'd stay awake, but she couldn't escape the sweet thing called sleep. Her lips were slightly parted and her eyelids were gracefully closed. She leaned her head against the window and her body slumped against the chair. I so badly wanted to join her in my carefree imaginary world. Everything became a blur the more my eyes watered. I rubbed them with the back of my hand. "Kae," a soft voice whispered. It sounded so melodic and sweet. Just hearing it made my whole body relax. My eyes began to close on their own accord.
Darian pushed down the trunk of the car once Samantha's suitcase was in it. He came to stand next to me, his hands shoved in the pockets of his athletic shorts. Samantha hugged her sad parents. Melissa held her tightly, whispering stuff to her. Samantha's form shook as she quietly sobbed, tears falling from her eyes. Guilt consumed me alive when I saw her tighten her grip on her mom. I was getting really tempted to make her stay. I'd rather die knowing that she was happy, but then again, she wouldn't be able to live without me. I can't imagine how many times she'd go in Heat. I've heard that it's almost unbearable. Seven was staring at me. Even though his icy eyes glared at me, I could see the sadness swirling in them. He looked broken. Sighing, I pulled my phone out of my pocket and walked over to him. I motioned him to follow me. To my surprise, he obliged. I turned my phone on and went into the Notes app. "I'm sorry," I typed. Seven stared at the screen when I showed him my p
My eyes slowly opened up into a squint. The room was completely dark, the light from the TV no longer on. I looked over at the window. There was a faint light outside as the sun was making an appearance. A warm body was next to me, an arm draped over me. I turned my head to see a head laying on my thigh. Brown hair pooled over my legs. Memories of last night came flooding through my mind. Oh right, I fell asleep on Samantha's lap. It looked like she fell over on my legs during her sleep, but her arm was still around me. Even though I was perfectly comfortable, I lifted her arm up and slipped off the couch. She stirred in her sleep, mumbling a few words. I fixed the blanket so that she was completely covered. I found myself staring at her as I observed her sleeping form. She looked so peaceful. Her lips were slightly parted and her long lashes lightly brushed against the skin under her eyes. Suddenly I felt like a creep, staring at her while she slept. I turned around and walked o
"What are you going to do?" Darian asked as we sat in a living room. I sunk down into the couch with a frown. We were at Samantha's house. She brought us here after we were in the forest for a little bit.I ran my fingers through my hair. 'I don't know. I really want her to be with me, but I can't just make her leave everything behind. I can't do that to her,' I replied."Why not? You're the male. She's basically required to move in with you. That's usually what happens." 'But I want to give her an option.'Footsteps made Darian and I's conversation cease. Samantha came walking into the room with a couple behind her. I'm pretty sure they're her parents because of their similar characteristics. Her father shared the same nose and eye color, except Samantha's eyes were softer and I'd prefer staring into hers than her dad's. His hair showed a little bit of grey and his face had a few wrinkles. Other than that, he didn't look that old.Samantha got her hair from her mom. Her mom's hair w
Nothing.10 packs. She was at none of them.Luck was definitely not on my side.I was beginning to lose all of my hope. I kept telling myself that there's a possibility she'll be next. The problem is, I've been telling myself that since the beginning of my search. And it's not helping anymore. It has basically been a day of driving, stopping every 45 minutes at another pack. The next pack, SilverCrist Pack, is farther away from the packs I just visited since it is off in the mountains, away from many of the city packs. The sun had already said "goodbye", like eight hours ago. It was time for it to say "hello" again as it became dawn. It was slowly peeking above the snow-capped mountains off the horizon. The sky displayed a beautiful set of colors. My eyes were barely staying open and I felt terrible. Exhaustion was consuming me alive and being away from my mate wasn't helping either. I was fine until I started craving her presence, which started when I was on my way to the fourth pa
"Are you sure you'll be fine?" Darian asked the tall man who stood at the front door of my house. His arms crossed over his plaid button up shirt, the sleeves rolled up to his elbows, and watched Darian close the trunk of my car. He brushed his obsidian black hair away from his dark eyes. "I'm sur
After cooling down a bit, I couldn't sleep. My wolf and I remained restless. Unconsciousness wouldn't take over, so I decided to go out for a run. My wolf needed to get let out. When I exited the house, I allowed the sweatpants to fall from my waist. I shivered slightly at the feeling of the cool a
( 12 years later )Dust particles filled the air when I slammed the large, heavy book closed. A stressful groan escaped my lips as I angrily shoved it back on the shelf with the other books. "Anything?" I heard Darian's voice from the other side of the library. I shook my head and continued rummagi
( 12 years ago )The road passed by in a blur as the car sped down the road. Rain pelted the windshield, making it difficult to see the road ahead. I slumped in my chair as uneasiness consumed me. "Mom, when are we going to get there?" I asked as I watched the trees sway in the wind. My mother tur
