Kade POV

I woke up at four in the morning, as I did every day, and went straight to the training grounds.

The air was so cold I could see my breath. Good. Cold sharpens the senses and forces wolves to work harder to stay warm, I thought to myself. I had learned to fight under far worse conditions, and Sera would learn the same. If she survived.

I spent an hour training alone, pushing my body through the familiar movements. My wol

I woke up in the darkness, accompanied by the knocking on my door. “Sera,” Kade’s voice came through the wood. “It’s time.” I dragged myself out of bed and opened the door. Kade stood there, a lantern in his hand. The warm light made his features look softer than usual. “Time for what?” I asked. “Meditation training. The moon is almost full tonight. Perfect conditions to properly connect you with it.” He handed me a thick cloak. “Put this on. We’re going into the forest.” I wrapped the cloak around myself and followed him down the stairs and out into the night. The pack house was quiet. Most of the wolves were either sleeping or out on patrol. The full moon hung huge and bright in the sky. Its sight made something ache in my chest—like homesickness for a place I had never been. Kade led me deep into the forest, to a clearing I hadn’t seen before. Moonlight poured down like liquid silver, making everything glow. In the center of the clearing lay a flat stone that looked as thoug

  • Silver Moon Rising    Awakening

Sera POV I dropped onto a bench at the edge of the training grounds and downed half the water bottle in one go. My body was screaming at me to stop, to rest, to do anything except keep going. But I wasn’t going to quit. Not now, when I was finally beginning to understand what I was capable of. Elena appeared with a small bag. She sat down beside me and pulled out an apple. “You’re doing well,” she said. “Kade watches you from his office window between sessions. He doesn’t do that with normal trainees.” “He’s just making sure his investment doesn’t break,” I replied. “Maybe.” Elena took a bite of her apple. “Or maybe he’s more interested than he wants to admit.” I didn’t know what to say to that. The connection I felt to Kade was confusing. It wasn’t the mate bond. That had been different—warmer, like coming home. This was sharper. More electric. It made my wolf sit up and pay attention in a way that felt dangerous.

  • Silver Moon Rising    Beyond the Pain

Sera POV The second training day was worse than the first. I woke up even before dawn, and every single muscle screamed in pain. The bruises from the previous day had healed overnight—werewolf metabolism was good for that—but the deeper aches remained. Kade had pushed me beyond every limit I had ever thought possible, and now my body was making sure I wouldn’t forget it. I dragged myself out of bed and put on the fresh training clothes that Elena had left outside my door. The routine was already becoming familiar. Wake up sore. Get dressed. Head to the training grounds. Let Kade tear me apart piece by piece. I should have hated it. A part of me did hate it. But another part of me felt more alive than I had in years. Kade was already waiting when I arrived at the training ring. It looked like he had been there for hours. His shirt was soaked with sweat, and training weapons were sc

  • Silver Moon Rising    The first real step

Kade POV "Is that really all you've got?" I taunted. "No wonder Damien rejected you. You're barely worth the effort to train." Her eyes flashed silver. There it was. "He was right to choose Vanessa," I continued. The words tasted like ash, but I forced them out anyway. "She's stronger. More confident. Actually capable of standing beside an Alpha instead of just taking up space." The silver in her eyes grew brighter. "You're exactly what he said you were. Too weak. Too soft. Too—" She moved. It wasn't a trained attack. It was pure instinct. Pure rage. She dropped the staff and lunged at me with her bare hands. I could have dodged, but I wanted to see what would happen when she finally stopped holding back. Her hands slammed into my chest, and silver light exploded outward. The force of it hurled me backward. I felt my back slam into a tree ten feet away. The impact knocked the air from my lungs, and I couldn'

Kade POV I woke up at four in the morning, as I did every day, and went straight to the training grounds. My wolf was restless. He had been ever since I brought Sera into the house. He wanted to go to her, check on her, make sure she was comfortable and safe — and a hundred other things that had nothing to do with her combat training. But I ordered him to shut up. We had a job to do. Personal feelings were a weakness we couldn’t afford. By the time the sun rose, I had sweated so much that my shirt was completely soaked. I pulled it off and tossed it aside. The cold air felt good again

And what are you going to do? Apologize?" Corvus laughed, but there was no humor in it. “You rejected her in front of the entire pack. You called her weak. You replaced her with Vanessa Crane before her bond pain had even faded. What exactly do you think she owes you?”“Nothing. She owes me nothing.” That truth tightened my throat. “But she doesn’t understand what she is. She has no idea what danger she’s in. Someone has to—”“Protect her?” Corvus shook his head. “You forfeited that right the moment you chose your father’s approval over your mate.”He was right. I knew he was right. But my wolf didn’t care about right and wrong. All that mattered to him was that our mate was out there somewhere—confused, hurt, and vulnerable. The instinct to find her was overwhelming.“I need to speak to my father,” I said.“That would be a mistake.”I ignored him and headed back to the pack house. The sun was high in the sky. Pack members were beginning their day. They fell silent when they saw me. S
