01~ The Omega Slave

SKYLAR'S P*O*V

Every girl would want a birthday where there's no one to order them what and what not to do. A stress-free day, with lots of goodies and gifts from both families and friends. But mine was a stark contrast.

I would work my ass off day and night, tirelessly cleaning the Alpha's room, and making sure his breakfast, lunch and dinner were ready before he even asked for it.

Yet, none of my actions were satisfying to anyone.

Today, I'll be turning eighteen, and it's just like every other day. Work your butt, get the Alpha's room cleaned up, fetch water, make sure his meals are all set.

Urgh…!

I decided to take a rest from scrubbing the floor while the other maids continued. I wish I could take a minute nap, but Mrs Marie over there will definitely not let me.

She never stops nagging, and it's becoming a dirty habit of hers. Her mind and attention are always drawn to me because I'm the Alpha's personal maid, she believes I am meant to do the bigger work than anyone else.

"Are you taking another break, you lazy fool?" Mrs. Marie shouted as she marched angrily in my direction.

Swiftly, I hunched over to resume scrubbing, my heart racing faster than my breath as I sensed her footsteps come to a halt right behind me.

"Miss Richardson, it appears your lazy attitude has started off again."

"No, ma'am." I began scrubbing hurriedly.

"This is the last time I will ever have to talk to you again."

"Yes, ma'am."

"If only your father wasn't being as lazy as you are, he would have worked the money sooner and you wouldn't have been here in the first place. How on earth would a princess turn into a slave in the blink of an eye?" She walked away.

I stopped scrubbing, trying to sink the words in.

This has become a constant reminder from almost everyone in the pack. They keep calling me names, a fool for nothing all because my father was unable to keep to his bargain with Alpha Denver.

My father's company was bankrupted, and the only way to keep it moving was a sum of a billion dollars. Dad didn't have enough at that time, so meeting Alpha Denver was our only hope.

However, Alpha Denver gave my father a two months grace to make it up to the bargain, but dad wasn't able to. Though the company started moving, it wasn't flourishing as it once used to.

When dad thought of what to do, asking for money from another Alpha wasn't the best option either. I had no idea dad had finally come up with a plan, one that would ruin not just me – but my future too.

I was just returning from Cedric's party when my father threw the news to me.

"I'm sorry, little princess, I had no other choice. You are the pack's only hope to keep moving."

Even till now, those words never left my mind. I feel like my world ended right at that moment he said those words to me, and for a thousand reasons I wish I could strangle the life out of him for selling me off without remorse.

I will never forgive him for doing this to me.

"Are you reflecting on your life history right now?" Her irritating voice seemed to appear out of nowhere, as though she had been standing there, waiting for me to begrudgingly acknowledge her presence.

However, Roselle and I had already prepared a mini birthday make-out for myself and her. She had wanted to make it a surprise, but being the 'no secret keeper' she is, she didn't realize when she spat her little secret to me.

So, we decided to rush the preparation as tonight, the Alpha would be hosting a feast for the moon goddess.

We went to the store room where Roselle had planned the make-out. Unknown to us, Selena, was keeping an eye on us.

It wasn't until a loud knock landed on the door, Roselle and I exchanged glances with horror filled in our eyes. "Selena." We cursed.

I rushed the birthday cake Roselle had managed to buy for me and we were able to hide the remaining in a hidden corner. The continuous banging on the door got my heart racing every second.

"What should we do?" Roselle inquired, her body trembling with fear as she fixed a worried gaze on me.

"Don't fret, it's usually just her nagging," I reassured her.

"But what if she reports us to the Alpha? You could face severe consequences," she said, expressing her concern.

"Don't–" I was going to say the next word when the door banged open.

Mrs. Marie stood alongside a guard, her stern expression was clear evidence of her anger. I had become used to her constant scolding as I had become her primary target.

"You two, follow me. We're going to see the Alpha King right away," she commanded.

My heart raced, and a thousand thoughts rushed through my mind. This wasn't the punishment I had anticipated. Reporting us to the Alpha was far from what I had in mind.

"Ma'am, Alpha Denver isn't in his room," Selena informed her, and a wave of relief washed over me.

Mrs. Marie turned, directing an angry glare in our direction. Her frustration was so clear as she realized her plan to involve the Alpha had been ruined.

"That doesn't mean you two have escaped the consequences of your actions." She said. "Tonight, you will be serving the guest table. While you, Miss Richardson." She blurts out, pointing at me. "You'll be serving the high table."

"But ma'am–" I began, but she abruptly interrupted.

"No excuses. You follow my instructions, or you'll have to answer to the Alpha King when he returns. The choice is yours."

I glanced at Selena, who wore a mocking smile that made my blood boil. I couldn't help but imagine choking the life out of her.

This annoying bitch!

She'd always been a thorn in my side, the main reason Mrs. Marie never gave me a break.

"You two better act properly tonight, or you'll experience misery like never before." As she walks away, she lets out a wicked laugh.

The evening dragged on, and guests began arriving one by one. It was said that Alpha Denver had gone to bring a very close friend of his from the neighboring pack.

Roselle and I had started dressing the tables and everything that needed to be seen on the tables. Selena was supervising us and I knew it was an order from Mrs. Marie.

Roselle had given Selena a warning to stop her incessant watching, but she refused to heed. I remained silent, knowing how desperate Selena wanted me to talk. But I kept to my peace.

In the blink of an eye, the hall was crowded with guests and pack members, creating a lively atmosphere.

As Alpha Denver began his speech, everywhere grew quiet that one could hear the heartbeat of the other. His speech was of a good reproach to everyone who had paid close attention to his words.

While they cheered him up, I stood by a corner, and I didn't realize how stupid I was smiling as I watched him walk to his seat.

From my corner, Mrs. Marie grabbed my left ear, and forcefully pulled me into the kitchen. "The wine isn't enough for the Alpha King, take more to his table."

Wincing from the pain in my ear, I placed the wine jar onto the tray and carried it back to the hall, making my way toward the high table.

I was careful as I held both sides of the tray, not wanting it to fall from my hands. While trying to serve the Alpha King, I lowered my head down, trying to make myself smaller than my small frame.

I tripped on a fair leg, the tray of wine flying from my hand and tumbling to the ground. Crushing – loudly – to the floor and spilling its red content against the figure sitting before me.

"I'm sorry. I'm so sorry. I'll go get–" I raised my head and caught Alpha Denver's gaze on me.

He had his clothes and a part of his face covered with wine. At that moment, I knew my fate was sealed. I was definitely as good as dead.
