Chapter 3: The New Head

Leila and Clive arrived at the Emergency Department's Office.

The doctors and nurses at the office are looking at Clive and gossiping to each other. 

"Isn't he the one who save a patient's life earlier? He's so handsome and well kempt."

"Yes, he is the one. I wonder who he is and why is he here."

"Dr. Aster, please have a seat. Ms. CK will be here shortly. I will have to attend to other chores now. I'll have to leave first. Please feel at home." Leila said politely, while her cheeks turns red. 

"Don't worry about me Miss. Go ahead and do your tasks. I can manage. I'll just wait for Director Klatt."

A short-haired woman in an office skirt and white blouse stood beside Leila.

"Before I forget, Dr. Aster this is Ms. Olive. She is the department's secretary."

"Hello Dr. Aster, I'm Olive." Olive extended her hand to shake his hand. 

"Hello, Miss Olive. Nice meeting you." 

"Miss Olive, I'll leave Dr. Aster to you. Ms. CK will arrive soon. Please attend to Dr. Aster's needs." Leila ordered.

"Yes, Miss Leila."

"Dr. Aster, do you want some coffee?"

"No, thank you. I already had one earlier. You may go back to your table. I'll be fine here."

After a few minutes Celeste arrived. Her slim and perfect body is hugged by a body configuring, silk, white dress with a silk gray blazer on top. Her scary and domineering aura is present. 

Clive looked puzzled as to who is this woman in front of him right now. 

'She's not like this earlier.' He muttered to himself.

Celeste stood at the center of the Emergency Department's office and gestured to Clive to stand beside her. 

"Everyone, gather around here. This is Dr. Clive Aster. He will be the new 'Head of the Emergency Department'. Do you have any objections? Tell it to me now." Celeste looked around and she saw puzzled faces surrounding her.

"This may seem odd to you that a newly hired employee becomes the Head of a department, but Dr. Aster is no newbie in this field. The City Health Office flew Dr. Aster to the City Hospital to help us catering to patients in need. I believe that Dr. Aster has that capability to be the Head." 

"Do you have any questions?" Celeste asked the crowd. 

A tall, dark man in a white, long-sleeved, full length blazer stepped in. 

"Is this the Dr. Aster of Liberty Hospital of Country S?"

"Yes, he is. Do you know him? Dr. Lisbon?"

Clive looked at the man in front of him and smiled.

"Of course Director Klatt, Dr. Louie Lisbon and I are classmates." 

Clive turned to Louie, "Hey Buddy! How have you been? It is a long time-no-see!" 

They shook their hands with a special hand shake. 

Clive whispered to Louie, "Is this alright with you, Buddy?" 

"Of course Buddy! I'll tour you around later. No one here is more qualified than you. Am I right Director Klatt?" Louie asked Celeste sarcastically.

Celeste smirked and smiled then spoke to the crowd.

"If there are no questions or objections, then I'll head back to my office. Dr. Aster will start tomorrow."

"Olive, show Dr. Aster his own office." Celeste ordered.

"Yes, Ms. CK." Olive answered. 

Celeste then turned her back from the crowd and let a sigh of relief. She walked elegantly through the hallway and back to her office. 

"Dr. Aster, let me show you your office." Olive said politely and lead the way to an office at the end of the Emergency Department.

Louie and Clive chatted while walking through the corridor. 

"I heard from the City Health that you are going to be here. I thought you don't want to go back here? What brought the change of mind?" Louie looked at hime questioningly.

"Well, I've changed my mind." Clive answered.

"How long have you been here Louie? You could have been the 'Head'. Do you not want the position?"

"Hiss! You silly! Of course I don't want that! My actions will be restricted and I won't have time to party anymore!" Louie rebutted. 

"Good gracious Louie! You are still the party-loving, womanizer!" Clive let out a laugh. 

"The position is yours, you gay! You don't even have a girlfriend through all these years!" Louie teased Clive. 

Olive overheard the two doctors and smiled curiously. 

The office is spacious. One side is a full-window wall overlooking the Emergency Room. 

"Dr. Aster, this is your office. From here, you can see everyone in the Emergency Room." Olive points out through the glass wall. 

"Also, here is your quarters with your own bathroom." Olive opened a door showing a room with an elegant white interiors, huge bed and spacious bathroom.

"These monitors and computers are also for you. I will ask the IT department tomorrow to guide you with these." Olive continued. 

"Dr. Aster, I will be your secretary and my table is just outside your office. If you need any help, just call me. The IT department will install your fingerprints tomorrow so that only you can open the door to your office." 

"Thank you Olive, you may go home now." Clive dismissed politely. 

Olive turned her back and left the office. 

He turned to Louie who is looking at Olive from head to toe.

"You look at her as if you are tearing up her dress! You jerk!" Clive mocked Louie.

"You don't appreciate women because you are gay, Clive!"Louie let out a mocking laugh too. 

"Believe what you want to believe! Let's go! You head back to the ER and I'll be heading home. I still have to unpack my luggage." Clive ordered.

"Whatever, gay!" Louie mocked again.

They walked through the corridor and parted ways at the end. 

Clive went straight to the entrance where his matte black Audi car is parked. 

'I am the new 'Head'. Hiss!' He muttered and smirked to himself.
