CHAPTER TWENTY THREE
Things have been different since Mirabella was diagnosed with Leukaemia, there was no one to rile Michal anymore. She missed Mirabella, she missed the cheerful and playful Mirabella, she missed her troubles and everything and her one prayer everyday was for Mirabella to get well soon.
Four weeks since school resumed and she had missed so much, she couldn't go back to school leaving her sister alone in the hospital. The doctor had insisted they stayed in the hospital for the treatments.
Catherine took a month off from work to take care of her daughter, she had failed a lot but she was ready to right her wrongs again. Jerry had been buzzing her phone with hundred of messages and calls but she told him they needed a break, a break to amend wherever she's lacked.

The cloud was dark, it looked like it was about to rain. Mirabella stood by the window and stared outside the breeze blew heavily across the window side and she shivered she went back to lay on her bed. Things have gone back to normal since Michal and her mother had a heart to heart talk.Mirabella noticed the change and one could tell she was happy about it, she begged Michal to go back to school. He was wandering the hospital wards looking for a room that was described to him over the phone,He stopped a nurse and asked for directions, he thanked her and left afterwards.He stopped in front of a room and knocked at the door that was left ajar, he entered after being ordered to come in, he closed the door and walked towards the beside.He looked round the room and saw two other patients that weren't opening their eyes, their guardian sat next to them with worried looks on their faces.It was a typical children emergency ward, he sat down and smiled at Mirabella's sleeping face. The doctor called Catherine into her office and had a talk with her, in the middle of their conversations she broke down."Doctor please save my daughter." She begged, there was no other way she knew her daughter could be saved."Pray for her ma'am." The doctor told her. "We're trying our best as doctors but there is no improvement. Like I told you before, the cancer has really affected her before it was detected, she's been holding on for long and now its like not treatable anymore.""Can we fly her abroad for treatments?" She inquired."We have the best doctors in this hospital, most of them were trained abroad so if the doctors in this hospital can't find a solution to the problem on ground. I'm afraid it can't be treated abroad. If the Leukaemia was still at the first stage, it'd have been easily treated but now ma'am your daughter is battling with the final stage of Leukaemia and one out of hundred survives this." As promised she resumed back to school on Monday morning, nothing have changed about Brainhood Academy it was still same air, same energy and same colours.She walked elegantly towards her classroom and greeted the few junior students that cared to acknowledge her on the corridor that led to her class, she entered the classroom and there was a suddenly silence."Michal!" They got under the almond shed and sat down at the deserted chair that has been there before either of them got admitted into the school.Michal stared into space and Hammed watched her."Why are you mad at me?" Days passed swiftly, and as the days passed she got weaker.The doctor called Catherine into her office again, and told her "If after this surgery, I mean the bone marrow transplantation she doesn't get better. I wouldn't want you to panic, I'd just advise you to be with her and make her last days a happy and memorable one. Right now, she's left with very little strength and she fighting strongly for her life." The doctor told Catherine, she couldn't move her feet, her teeth were glued to her tongue.'Would she lose her daughter?' Was the one question her brain could process. She stared at the doctor with no expression on her face, she was not ready to lose anyone again, she sobbed silently thinking of the impending danger she sobbed out loudly."Please save my daughter." She begged, the words she said every time. She thought of Mirabella's smiling face and gnashed her teeth in pains. "I don't want to lose her."
