"What was that all about, Adrian? I thought something bad happened to you," Lisa waltzed into the room with her high heels, creating a quirky sound on my marble floor that only managed to irritate me.

On normal days, I loved how slender she looked and the way she swayed with her heels, but not today. It was all rubbing me the wrong way.

"What are you going on about?" I asked irritably, hoping she wouldn't answer and just let me be.

"I've been calling you all morning, but you're not picking up my calls, and now I come here to see that Davis has spent the night here," she said, her face contorting into a frown as she glanced at the bed.

"Why did you have him over? Don't tell me you're swaying both ways," she added, her tone accusatory.

"Get out," I shouted, frustration seeping into my voice.

"I... I'm sorry. Please, I didn't mean it that way," she stammered, her voice filled with panic. "I'm not in the mood for your bickering, Lisa. Go home. I need to be at the office, and
