Mag-log in~ Adrain ~
I laughed at my reflection in the mirror, seeing how the all-blue outfit I wore looked. Blue was Charlotte's favorite color, and I wanted to surprise her with the all-blue outfit. I rang the alarm, and Austin walked in. “I wouldn’t be back till night. I have somewhere very important to be.” I stashed and took my car keys. "Just ensure Emilia is safe and doesn't leave the pack.” Austin nodded without saying a word. "You can leave Austin." He nodded again and turned to leave but stopped and turned to me. “Alpha, the pack members are not safe. The curse lingers in the air, and nobody knows who might be affected next.” He explained. "The curse isn’t effective any longer, Austin." I dropped my car keys back on the desk and inched closer to where he stood. “It ended the moment Emilia stepped into the pack. A dead omega was revived after she arrived, don’t you get it?" I said, trying to make him see reasons. “Just invite the priestess, Alpha. She would have a better explanation." “I won’t." I went back to my desk and took my car key. “She isn’t needed, Austin. Just leave and make sure Emilia is safe. " I declared. He heaved heavily and headed out, already seeing I wouldn’t budge to his demands. I have never and will never go back on my words. He knew better. ******* I stamped my feet, eagerly waiting for Charlotte to appear. This has been three hours since I arrived, but she isn’t here yet. Panic clawed at my throat, and I wondered what exactly would be holding her. What if her father's enemies found her and wants to get rid of her? What if she was caught and killed by some unknown people? I sipped on my drink, shaking off the negative thoughts that were crawling in. I gulped down the last content in the glass and stood up to leave when the door creaked open. Charlotte walked in; she was dressed in a blue floral gown. My mouth fell open as I starred at her dreamingly. Her hair was still the same, brunette hair, the very first thing I loved about her; her brown eyes were still there, complementing her hair color. “Charlotte." I mumbled; the thought of crushing my lips against hers clouded my emotions. She blinked and glanced away, noticing my piercing gaze. "Come sit." She tipped her head down and came to sit next to me. I shut my eyes tightly, inhaling her scent. Charlotte smelled really nice and clean, like always. "I’m glad you wore my best-colored outfit, Adrain.” She smiled, her voice reminding me of the last time we met. “I’m glad it makes you feel good.” I spoke, relieved she finally came. She actually took the ‘don’t dress tacky’ thing serious. That was unlike Charlotte anyways; she never really did oblige to things that fast. It seems her father's death and pack disorder disrupted all of that. “Old ways changed.” I glanced at her. "Never going to believe Charlotte now hates smoking; didn’t hesitate to listen to my command on dressing well.” I laughed. Her face remained still; she didn’t laugh or smile. "You wanted me here, Adrain, so let's get into your reason for it.” I was pissed by her last statement. “What do you mean, Charlotte? It's been six whole years. Six good years we never got to see, and you sit here telling me to get into my reason for inviting you." I gritted out. "It's fine if you don’t want to see me; you can take your leave.” I stood up. “You know me too well, Adrain; I don’t do jokes. You invited me here and I have to reschedule myself and take the next flight from Solana to here. You have to get into your reasons for inviting me and drop the compliments already.” She snorted and also stood from her seat. Damn it! Guess I was wrong; Charlotte will never get to change her ways. Still stubborn as ever. I walked over to the desk and sat down. Charlotte walked up to the front and brought out an envelope from the bag, placing it on my table. “You can go through them whenever you are free; remember not to invite me again if you haven’t concluded with it yet.” She sighed and turned to the door. "Wait, Charlotte." I rose from the chair. “So this is about it. About the deals and the money?" I smirked in pain. “You wouldn’t have reached out the first time I put it out there that I wanted to find you. You shouldn’t have appeared then.” I barked and took a few steps to where she stood. “I’m not doing it for just the money and deals, Adrain. My father, my father's legacy is more important.” She defended. I nodded and walked back to the desk. I took the envelope and pulled out the contents. Stack of brown papers that looked old and weary. I dropped the papers back on the desk and wanted to drop the envelope when a little piece of photo dropped from it onto the floor. I bent and picked it up. A half-burnt photo of Charlotte and me when we were kids; we held each other's hands, staring at the moonlight. It was a piece of drawing made by Charlotte; her drawing skills were exceptional. I took my eyes away from the photo, and my gaze rested on Charlotte. I glanced at her then back at the photo. I walked over to where she stood and held her hands, closing the gap between us. She backed away when my body touched hers, and I walked up again. She backed away till she was braced up against the wall. I settled in front of her, using my thumb to part her lips. “I miss seeing your drawings, Charlotte." She widened her eyes over my sudden actions. I really did miss Charlotte. I knew I never confessed love to her, but Sue knew how dear we were to each other.~ Emilia ~“Tell me more about it, Ivy. How long do the guards stay up at night or even in the morning? Tell me everything you know about it." I smiled and pointed to the couch for her to sit on while I moved to my bed.Ivy hesitated for a while before sitting. “The pack is heavily guarded every single hour of the day, both day and night. The general commander is in charge of assigning each guard to their duty post. And no one leaves the main pack gate without the order of the Alpha.” I nodded, all she was saying sinking in. “And about night, Luna, they guard also at night; the pack never goes an hour without the guards in their usual position, unless the Alpha says otherwise.”I wanted to press further, to ask even deeper questions, but I wasn’t sure it would go down well. It might stir up suspicion from her or even Adrain when he might have inquired about my whereabouts tomorrow. “I will need your help tomorrow, Ivy, but I will get you at that time. You can leave now." Ivy stoo
~Adrain~I ignored Charlotte and unlocked the drawer of the desk and began sorting the files.I searched all through but couldn’t find it. Losing this file would cost me a lot. I stopped the search and stood still.I was certain I left the file here at my penthouse. And no one has access to this place but just I and Charlotte.I turned to her; she was still pacing in the room. Her arms folded on her chest. She stopped, seeing my lingering gaze, and walked to where I was. She zipped down the jacket, pulling a file from its side.“Looking for this?" She waved the file in the air.I rushed over to her and managed to snatch it when she shifted backwards."The Southside armies are launching an attack soon.” She said, "You ought to be more careful, Adrain; things might get tougher than you think." She handed the file over to me.I pulled the signed documents and glanced through them, then placed them back on the file after confirming it was still intact. “Tell me more about the Southside
~Adrain~I glanced through the documents Austin dropped on my desk and shook my head in disagreement. How would the South Side armies want an agreement? The matter has already been resolved in a peace talk, so who would have brought it up again?I walked to the shelf next to my dresser and heaved. The piles of books there were discouraging for someone who wanted to search for something he didn’t know exactly where it was placed. I moved to the first row, carefully raising the books one at a time to ensure they didn’t stick to each other. The document wasn’t in the first row or the second or even the third row either.Could it be that I had misplaced it? My hands rested on my waist as I walked back to my desk, pulling the dresser open and beginning to rummage its contents.Still the same news. It wasn’t there.I closed my eyes, searching my head to remember if I had kept it somewhere else. But the memory wasn’t coming in. It's been three years, three whole years since it was signed an
~ Emilia ~“You can come in, Ivy." I responded, and Adrain moved to the door.He opened the door, and Ivy bowed, making way for him to leave before she came in.‘Shit, I was still tying a towel.’"Just hold on, Ivy; I will invite you in when I’m done.” Ivy turned back and walked out of the room, closing the door behind her.I hurriedly put on my clothes and then called her back.“Ma’m, someone brought you this." She said and stretched out a white envelope to my face.I looked at it and then back at her face.I crossed my arms. "Someone dropped it for me?” I queried, confused.“Yes, ma'am. The letter was directed to you.” She explained. What she said wasn’t just adding up.Who would possibly drop off a letter for me?“Drop it here, Ivy." I pointed at the couch. Ivy gently placed the envelope there and bowed before leaving. After I had packed my hair, I went to where the envelope was kept and picked it up.I went to my bed and sat down, assessing the letter. ‘Emilia Grayson’ was boldl
~ Emilia ~The bang I felt on my head when I woke up was massive.I smiled, remembering how Adrain carried me in his arms to my room and then tucked me into bed after I told him I felt sleepy. He really cared, though. He ensured the vase didn’t hit my head, not just once but thrice. How do you feel when someone you think doesn't love you suddenly starts to care? The feeling is reassuring, so reassuring that you would fall for him again.I rolled myself out of the bed and headed to the bathroom. When I came back to my room, my mind raced back to the event that played earlier. How could a vase drop from the servants' quarters not even once but three whole times?Something is off. I sat down on my bed and crossed my leg, looking up to the sky as the thoughts flew in.I saw the figure, at least from his neck down to his head. But they were all covered in a black mask; I couldn’t see his face. Why would someone throw off a vase without even checking if someone was there? Let's say the v
~ Adrain ~I paced in my room, patiently waiting for Austin to arrive.“You called me." Austin bowed as soon as he stepped in."Earlier at the courtyard, did you make sure all the guards were present?" I stopped to face him.He tilted his head, then nodded."Yes, Alpha, I made sure they all left their quarters."“No," I shook my head. “They didn’t all leave their quarters.” I leaned closer.“Who then threw the glass?"“The glass?" Austin echoed, confused.“Yes, the vase. Not just once or even twice, but thrice. Three fucking times." I made the sign with my hands for clearer understanding.Austin still looked confused, and then I knew I needed to explain.“After addressing the guards, I was leaving and then bumped into Emilia, and next thing, a vase fell from the servant quarters almost hitting her.” I paused.Austin's expression was unreadable, but a mix of shock and confusion was written all over him.“I pulled her out the first time, the second, and the third time." I clenched my fi
