Masuk~ Emilia ~
Adrian's gaze didn’t leave my face. I hurried to my feet and held the metal door to avoid falling to the floor. "Al…pha…" I muttered and bowed. He didn’t speak a word but stared at me. I lifted my head to find everyone's pressing gaze, including the men and old woman in there. My feet wobbled beneath me and tension brewed within. Everyone stared and didn't say a word, which made my heart skip bit by bit. “Morning, Alpha," I said, breaking the long, suffocating silence. He nodded and kept accessing my face. Like he would get any information he wanted by looking at it. “Austin.” He signaled his beta, and he hurried over to where we stood. “Take her to the pack's dining." "Yes, Alpha.” Austin bowed and led the way. “Let’s go, ma'am." I chuckled within myself. Not like he didn’t know I was bought. And why would he be referring to me as a ma'am? “Well, I’m not a ma'am." I rolled my eyes and adjusted in my position to stand firmly. “She is Emilia, Austin." He called my name again, sweeter than anyone had ever called it. “Emilia, please follow him.” Adrain said. I stared at him in shock. He was being so gentle and sweet right now and not the dreaded Alpha Adrain, whose name was mentioned in hushed whispers. “Okay, let's go, Austin." Austin led the way, and we both headed towards the corridor adjacent to the door we stood at. We passed a series of corridors and hallways, each of the corridors filled with guards that held their swords like they were preparing for war. We finally arrived at the dining. The tables were already set, filled with fresh bread, eggs, lots of fruit, and sizable cuts of meat. I was shocked to see Adrain already seated with a girl that seemed the same as my age standing behind him. But how come he arrived before Austin and I? We obviously left while he stood there and watched. “Sit." Adrain ordered, snapping me out of my thoughts. I inhaled deeply and sat down, trying to keep a bold face as much as I could. Showing these wolves how scared I was would make them see me as a weakling and would eventually want to use me and toss me around. “So Emilia, how are you?” he asked, his voice sweeter at the mention of 'Emilia.' He indeed mentioned my name like it meant more to him. I took a sip of my coffee, trying to maintain my composure. “I’m okay." I replied, my voice neutral as I forced a tight smile. He leaned back on his chair. “I see," he chuckled, his eyes not leaving mine. “I was thinking maybe we should discuss your role in the pack as my Luna." I nodded, still playing the part of the clueless Emilia. “You made me your Luna, so you should know what you want me for.” I demanded, summoning every last shred of courage. He grinned widely. “A quite difficult one.” "Well, what do you think about the werewolves' pack?” he asked, eyes steadily fixed on me. “It’s different." "Different? What exactly is different about it?” he asked and leaned forward towards my direction. I inhaled terribly. Adrain was asking many questions, and for any reason, I wouldn’t want him to know I have a clue of what the werewolves' pack looked like. I spent most of my free days while I was young reading and researching about werewolves and their packs and what it seemed like to be one. “Everything about it is totally different. Servants with swords, lots of hallways and corridors, and metal doors with different inscriptions. “Everything, definitely everything.” I swallowed hard and raised my chin in defiance despite the fear in my hands. I sipped the coffee one more time to avoid more questions. “I mean, it's totally different from the human world. You don’t need to have as many guards as that to protect your home." I said, pointing at the guards that stood at every end of the dining. “Emilia,” he called, and looked deep into my eyes. Our eyes locked for a moment, and he slowly looked away. “This is Ivy," he said and pointed at the girl behind him. “She is going to be your personal servant." I nodded, and my gaze moved to the girl behind him. She was really tall, just like Adrain. Blonde hair with a hint of gray. She let out a faint smile when our eyes met. I accessed her for a while before turning back to Adrain. “So, from earlier, who do you think we were talking about?" My hands suddenly began quivering, and I gripped the coffee cup, pressing hard on it to hide my nervousness. Does he know I eavesdropped or is he trying to find out? “Who were you talking about? When and where?” I furrowed my brows in confusion. He chuckled dryly and then leaned back on his chair. “At the door earlier." I sat up straighter, burying the tension that overwhelmed me. I shook my head. “I don’t remember hearing anything.” I replied and took a bite of the meat. His mouth curved slightly. “I see. Ivy will show you to your room, and we will continue our discussion later. I have somewhere to go." He said and stood up immediately. My mouth fell open as I watched him sip the last content of his coffee. He looked so handsome. His lips curled into a warm smile. “See you later, Emilia." He called my name again. The name tasted different on his tongue whenever he called it. I smiled as I watched him leave.~ Emilia ~The bang I felt on my head when I woke up was massive.I smiled, remembering how Adrain carried me in his arms to my room and then tucked me into bed after I told him I felt sleepy. He really cared, though. He ensured the vase didn’t hit my head, not just once but thrice. How do you feel when someone you think doesn't love you suddenly starts to care? The feeling is reassuring, so reassuring that you would fall for him again.I rolled myself out of the bed and headed to the bathroom. When I came back to my room, my mind raced back to the event that played earlier. How could a vase drop from the servants' quarters not even once but three whole times?Something is off. I sat down on my bed and crossed my leg, looking up to the sky as the thoughts flew in.I saw the figure, at least from his neck down to his head. But they were all covered in a black mask; I couldn’t see his face. Why would someone throw off a vase without even checking if someone was there? Let's say the v
~ Adrain ~I paced in my room, patiently waiting for Austin to arrive.“You called me." Austin bowed as soon as he stepped in."Earlier at the courtyard, did you make sure all the guards were present?" I stopped to face him.He tilted his head, then nodded."Yes, Alpha, I made sure they all left their quarters."“No," I shook my head. “They didn’t all leave their quarters.” I leaned closer.“Who then threw the glass?"“The glass?" Austin echoed, confused.“Yes, the vase. Not just once or even twice, but thrice. Three fucking times." I made the sign with my hands for clearer understanding.Austin still looked confused, and then I knew I needed to explain.“After addressing the guards, I was leaving and then bumped into Emilia, and next thing, a vase fell from the servant quarters almost hitting her.” I paused.Austin's expression was unreadable, but a mix of shock and confusion was written all over him.“I pulled her out the first time, the second, and the third time." I clenched my fi
~ Emilia ~I grunted deep and pushed him off my body.“I didn’t ask for your help. " I eyed him and turned to go."Emilia." He called and grabbed my hand, pulling me close to him.My body fell into his, like my right hand.on his chest.“Arghhhh." I screamed as the glass fell the second time, shattering on the floor inches before me.I rested my head on his chest and shut my eyes tightly. The glass would have shattered on my head if not for Adrain.I opened my eyes and raised my head to look at him, and our eyes met.'No,' I screamed in my head. Don't fall for this Emilia. He just wanted to save you, not because you are special. It’s still the same thing he would have done for anyone that stood there.I disentangled from his hold."Thanks," I muttered and turned to leave when his voice stopped me."Just wait, Emilia.”I stopped in my tracks without turning to face him.He walked up to me and held my shoulders.“You are upset with me, Emilia.” He started.I stood still, not even movin
~ Emilia ~ I watched Adrain leave and shook my head in disgust. Adrain isn't even worth my love. But wasn’t I even a fool for falling for someone who made it clear in the first place that our marriage was just for paper's sake and nothing else attached to it? But something off was going on in this pack. I have overheard Austin complaining about a curse and the death of someone. I hissed; it shouldn’t be any of my business though. The pack's affairs aren't meant to be bothering me. My next plan was finding out more about Charlotte and how she is anyway, Ava. I looked at the drawing and made up my mind not to continue with it or even look at it ever again. I needed to concentrate on my well-being till the marriage days elapse, and I would leave just as he said. I folded back the half-painted drawing, including the box of instruments I needed for the drawing, and headed outside to trash it. I didn’t want to trash it anywhere close because looking at it might make me wa
~ Adrain ~I woke up with my head pounding severely.I closed my eyes, trying to remember the event of the previous day.I recalled them one after the other.Charlotte was attacked by some red-haired girl whose identity still remained unknown to me. Though she confirmed she knew her.But how?I sprang up from the bed, recalling she had a cut on her palm while trying to save herself.I took my phone from the bedside table and scrolled through, searching for her number.Shit! I didn’t have her contact; we communicated through letters just as she requested.I climbed down from my bed and headed to the bathroom when I felt a heavier bang on my head.I walked back to my bed and sat down.“My goodness,” I exclaimed. The incident of last night slammed into me. And I clenched my fist. What did I just do? Tried to be intimate with Emilia and even mistook her for Charlotte, mentioning Charlotte's name at that point.Emilia's face played on my head. Though I was drunk, I could recall how tear
~ Emilia ~I had waited up almost all night waiting for Adrain. But he didn’t show up.I was a bit confused on why I was actually waiting for him, not like he cared about me, though. We weren’t even married as normal couples. It was just a contract marriage that would last for a few days.“I don’t think he is going to show up, ma'am. " His beta Austin bowed after watching me pacing up and down in the living room for hours."It's fine, Austin. Not necessarily waiting for him, though. I just couldn’t sleep.”Adrain moved towards the door. “Alpha mentioned he wouldn’t be home early, so I think you should just go in and sleep." He said and left."My goodness," I exhaled. Why was I even waiting for someone who didn't know I was waiting for him?I sighed heavily and went up to my room.I tossed on my bed, trying to sleep, but I couldn’t.I rose from the bed and decided to still wait for him a little while.I came back to the living room and sat down; my mind raced with thoughts as I stared
