~ Adrain ~

I paced in my room, patiently waiting for Austin to arrive.

“You called me." Austin bowed as soon as he stepped in.

"Earlier at the courtyard, did you make sure all the guards were present?" I stopped to face him.

He tilted his head, then nodded.

"Yes, Alpha, I made sure they all left their quarters."

“No," I shook my head. “They didn’t all leave their quarters.” I leaned closer.

“Who then threw the glass?"

“The glass?" Austin echoed, confused.

“Yes, the vase. Not just once or even twice, but thrice. Three fucking times." I made the sign with my hands for clearer understanding.

Austin still looked confused, and then I knew I needed to explain.

“After addressing the guards, I was leaving and then bumped into Emilia, and next thing, a vase fell from the servant quarters almost hitting her.” I paused.

Austin's expression was unreadable, but a mix of shock and confusion was written all over him.

“I pulled her out the first time, the second, and the third time." I clenched my fist tighter.

“Find me the fucking asshole that did that." I roared, my wolf Antha growling within.

“Yes, Alpha, but I made sure every servant left their quarters. I guess it’s a coincidence; probably the vest must have been in their windows when they were leaving, and the wind blew it off.” He shrugged.

"You can’t tell me that, Austin," I yelled.

"It wasn’t the wind. Just watch them closely and find me the intruder among them.”

I headed to the chair in my study and sat down. Took a stick of cigarette from its pack and lit it.

I began

The smoke from it reminded me so much of Charlotte. She was a lover of cigarettes, but she made it clear she hated them now.

What irony?

Charlotte was the one who pushed me into taking cigarettes years back.

I had stayed with her most times she took it, warning her to stop taking the damn thing.

But she wouldn’t budge, so I had to join her.

“You promised to stop that, Alpha." Austin said, walking to the front of my desk.

I glanced at him, then glanced back and continued taking the cigarettes.

“What if she comes here?" He quivered and moved to sit on the couch.

“Who?"

“Emilia."

Oh yes, I literally forgot this. Emilia hated the smell so bad. She had barged into my room on a day after I had finished taking it.

She coughed so hard that it nearly choked her. And I promised myself never to take it again.

“She is asleep right now. She wouldn’t barge in here now for any reason.”

Austin stared at me and then smiled.

"What was that?”

He stood from the couch and walked over to the front of my desk again. "You said she was sleeping right now, so I was wondering how you knew.”

"Oh..." I uttered, then forced my mouth to close, swallowing the next words.

How would it look if I said I tucked Emilia to sleep?

It’s going to sound desperate, and I would look weak too.

Right after the last vase had wanted to hit her, she was so terrified that she couldn’t stand well.

Her feet wobbled as she stood, and then I offered to carry her to her room, which she agreed to.

She insisted I stay with her for a while, and I did till she slept off.

I knew I had this soft spot for her whenever I saw her, but making it obvious wouldn’t be nice.

I wouldn’t say I love her, cause loving a human isn’t something I would do.

But for sure, my heart melts whenever we are together.

“I helped her to her room earlier, and she said she would have so much sleep. So I guess she will be sleeping by now."

"But..." Austin was interrupted by a knock on my door.

He opened the door and stepped out and then returned after a while.

“Alpha!" He called, hurriedly walking towards me.

“The intruder has been found.”

I sprang from my seat, throwing the half-burnt cigarette on the floor.

“He isn’t here though. A guard found him leaving the quarters after disposing of the body.”

"I don’t get it."

"After you addressed the guards at the courtyard, they had locked their quarters after everyone supposedly left.

After the general commander returned and opened the quarters, he found someone leaving just then.

From his description, the figure was clearly putting on the guard's uniform, but then a masked face.”

I looked at Austin puzzled. “And he made no effort in getting the person?"

“He said the figure ran off before he could get him, and the guards hadn't returned to their posts when all this was happening.”

"Hmmmm," I exclaimed.

Was the story even adding up?

Someone disguised as a soldier or a soldier trying to hurt Emilia.

There was more to it, though, but the fact here is that an enemy has locked in, and we would stop at nothing in finding him.

~ Emilia ~The bang I felt on my head when I woke up was massive.I smiled, remembering how Adrain carried me in his arms to my room and then tucked me into bed after I told him I felt sleepy. He really cared, though. He ensured the vase didn’t hit my head, not just once but thrice. How do you feel when someone you think doesn't love you suddenly starts to care? The feeling is reassuring, so reassuring that you would fall for him again.I rolled myself out of the bed and headed to the bathroom. When I came back to my room, my mind raced back to the event that played earlier. How could a vase drop from the servants' quarters not even once but three whole times?Something is off. I sat down on my bed and crossed my leg, looking up to the sky as the thoughts flew in.I saw the figure, at least from his neck down to his head. But they were all covered in a black mask; I couldn’t see his face. Why would someone throw off a vase without even checking if someone was there? Let's say the v

~ Emilia ~I grunted deep and pushed him off my body.“I didn’t ask for your help. " I eyed him and turned to go."Emilia." He called and grabbed my hand, pulling me close to him.My body fell into his, like my right hand.on his chest.“Arghhhh." I screamed as the glass fell the second time, shattering on the floor inches before me.I rested my head on his chest and shut my eyes tightly. The glass would have shattered on my head if not for Adrain.I opened my eyes and raised my head to look at him, and our eyes met.'No,' I screamed in my head. Don't fall for this Emilia. He just wanted to save you, not because you are special. It’s still the same thing he would have done for anyone that stood there.I disentangled from his hold."Thanks," I muttered and turned to leave when his voice stopped me."Just wait, Emilia.”I stopped in my tracks without turning to face him.He walked up to me and held my shoulders.“You are upset with me, Emilia.” He started.I stood still, not even movin

  • Sold To The Alpha, Now I'm A Werewolf    The Alpha's Cruelty

~ Emilia ~ I watched Adrain leave and shook my head in disgust. Adrain isn't even worth my love. But wasn’t I even a fool for falling for someone who made it clear in the first place that our marriage was just for paper's sake and nothing else attached to it? But something off was going on in this pack. I have overheard Austin complaining about a curse and the death of someone. I hissed; it shouldn’t be any of my business though. The pack's affairs aren't meant to be bothering me. My next plan was finding out more about Charlotte and how she is anyway, Ava. I looked at the drawing and made up my mind not to continue with it or even look at it ever again. I needed to concentrate on my well-being till the marriage days elapse, and I would leave just as he said. I folded back the half-painted drawing, including the box of instruments I needed for the drawing, and headed outside to trash it. I didn’t want to trash it anywhere close because looking at it might make me wa

Though she confirmed she knew her.But how?I sprang up from the bed, recalling she had a cut on her palm while trying to save herself.I took my phone from the bedside table and scrolled through, searching for her number.Shit! I didn’t have her contact; we communicated through letters just as she requested.I climbed down from my bed and headed to the bathroom when I felt a heavier bang on my head.I walked back to my bed and sat down.“My goodness,” I exclaimed. The incident of last night slammed into me. And I clenched my fist. What did I just do? Tried to be intimate with Emilia and even mistook her for Charlotte, mentioning Charlotte's name at that point.Emilia's face played on my head. Though I was drunk, I could recall how tear

  • Sold To The Alpha, Now I'm A Werewolf    I Was Never The One

~ Emilia ~I had waited up almost all night waiting for Adrain. But he didn’t show up.I was a bit confused on why I was actually waiting for him, not like he cared about me, though. We weren’t even married as normal couples. It was just a contract marriage that would last for a few days.“I don’t think he is going to show up, ma'am. " His beta Austin bowed after watching me pacing up and down in the living room for hours."It's fine, Austin. Not necessarily waiting for him, though. I just couldn’t sleep.”Adrain moved towards the door. “Alpha mentioned he wouldn’t be home early, so I think you should just go in and sleep." He said and left."My goodness," I exhaled. Why was I even waiting for someone who didn't know I was waiting for him?I sighed heavily and went up to my room.I tossed on my bed, trying to sleep, but I couldn’t.I rose from the bed and decided to still wait for him a little while.I came back to the living room and sat down; my mind raced with thoughts as I stared
