Chapter 105

Irene closed the door to Noah's room, the soft glow of the nightlight casting a warm ambiance, she couldn't help but smile. The bedtime story had worked its magic, lulling her energetic 4 year old son into a peaceful slumber. With a gentle touch, Irene turned off the bedside lamp, leaving only the nightlight to cast a subtle glow in Noah's room.

“Good night, sweetheart,” Irene said then kiss Noah’s forehead before leaving from his side.

As she tiptoed out of Noah's room, Irene found herself in the quiet hallway, the only audible sound being the soft hum of the night. Her intentions were to return to her room, perhaps catch up on some much needed rest, but a faint murmur caught her attention, the soft glow of the TV emanating from the living room.

Curiosity piqued, Irene ventured into the living room to find Magdalena, Noah's adoptive mother, still engrossed in the glow of the screen. The room, dimly lit by the flickering light of the television, had an air of coziness to it.
