Chapter 30: Euphoria.

Jane's POV.

I subtly checked the time on my phone as I sat at the dinner table.

Where was he?

I looked at Mateo, he was staring down at his phone and so was abuelo. It had to be one of the worst feelings in the world when you felt your family was keeping something big from you.

It had to be something bad if they were keeping it from me. Usually, Mateo would tell me everything and his silence was making me question the severity of the situation, scaring me further because I was left with nothing but my imagination for answers.

I knew with everything in me that they knew where Alvaro was and they were lying to me.

I heard the front door open and I waited. Abuelo and Mateo both looked up at me before their gazes fell on each other and then on the dining room door.

My mother sat absentmindedly in her chair as her eyes scanned all the detail of the room. There had been silence for over ten minutes and usually, Mateo was never silent.

"Sorry I'm late," Alvaro walked into the dining roo
