Chapter Eighteen

With the press conference ending with Alaska transforming into a lovely and protective husband before the people. He moves the heart of some of the people and some believes he is a human too and that he might really want to become a good person like he had said. With his words and show of love to Ariel in front of the cameras and his expressions full of sincerity, the people’s impression seems to change a little about him.

The news about Ariel’s pregnancy sparkled a wave of public sympathy towards her. Many felt she deserved kindness and since she is an orphan too. But Ariel hate being pitied because she is an orphan. 

But Mr. White and the board of election gets angry with the outcome of the press conference, Mr. White had deliberately instigated the reporters and the elderly women to harass Ariel so that she will be frustrated being Alaska’s wife. Mr. White believes that if Ariel and Alaska had a contract marriage, he will force her to go against the contract and leave Alaska too. 

When Mr. White got the information that Alaska had arrive to Alaska with Ariel from Russia, he decides to call him immediately, he already inform the reporters and stationed some paid elderly women to harass Ariel the moment Alaska entered the election office knowing that only Jefrey was around and he will not be violent because he knew Alaska wanted the position of the governor so much. 

But now it turns out to favor Alaska.

Mr. White and the other election boards wanted Justin Truce to be the governor but since Alaska decides to get involve and run for the position they will do anything to make sure he never gets to the position.  

“Why did you say that?” 

Ariel was furious, he did not only lie about her being together with him in the past but also being the father of her child. 

“What did you mean?” Alaska tries to forge innocence.

“We have never met before that day you barge into my wedding. And why will you say you are the father of the child when you obviously did something to his father?” Ariel feels so enraged. 

Alaska turns to look at her, his face cold and frosty.

“Is that what you think?” He obviously save her from Jack but she thinks he did something to him.

Ariel looks frightened, Alaska’s face suddenly looking different from when they were in the press conference. He looks incensed. Ariel wonders what she did wrong, she was the one who should be angry but why was he taking her role.

“What did he mean by is that what I think?” she thinks confused.

“I know what you did to Jack” she blurts out. Alaska frowns his brows.

“You kill him!” 

“I did?” Alaska was obviously asking a question but Ariel think he admit to killing Jack. Her face fell, she doesn’t expect Alaska will actually admit to killing Jack. 

“I almost thinks he is a good person while he was talking, I almost forgot he is a monster” Ariel’s eyes brims with tears. She had expected Alaska to have done something bad to Jack but she really hopes he was still alive. 

“I saved you from that bastard” he let angrily. 

“Liar!” Ariel thinks, not daring to say it out loud seeing Alaska’s cold’s face. 

“Why will you save me from Jack? You killed him” she feels enrage but could not do anything. 

Alaska don’t bother with her because he could see that she was definitely looking for a way to find trouble with him. Since she had done well in the press conference, he decides to let it go. 

“Don, the campaign manager send message. The response from the people is really good, he believes it will help the campaign since the election will be starting soon” Jefrey told him. 

“Alright”.

“Also, the board has invited you and miss Ariel to a get together this evening” Jefrey tells me. 

Alaka frowns. 

He has not forgiven the fact that Mr. White instigate people against Ariel to harass the other day and now they have to attend a get together. 

“He says the get together is to introduce the governing candidates in the next election to each other’s since their names will be announced soon” Jefrey adds. 

Alaska sighs. He knew running for the position of the governor will not be easy for someone like him, but it seems they are really trying to make it harder for him.  

“Is it compulsory to bring her?” Alaska ignoring the fact that Ariel is sitting beside him in the car. Ariel was too angry to mind him, so she keeps quiet.

“Yes, all the candidates are to bring their wives with them and probably their children too” Jefrey tells him. 

Ariel though was not really listening to them but she wonders why the board of election keep organizing things like that to involve her. She really did not want to be seen with Alaska but it seems she had no choice now but to become a nominal wife.

Alaska don’t want Ariel to be put in tight spot again, but it seems there was no choice now and moreover he had borrowed her for that reason. 

“Prepare for the get together” Alaska tells her but Ariel did not reply and act like she doesn’t hear him. He looks at her but she still acts like he was invisible. 

“That attitude of yours!” he suddenly holds her left wrist looking into her eyes threateningly. Ariel looks scared but it seems she was use to it now and don’t budge at all. 

Alaska looks surprise to see her like that. 

“You are really becoming bold” he smirks angrily. But looking at Ariel’s eyes directly like that, he finds her kind of cute.  

“Did you think because you are cute you can become rude?” he drops her wrist angrily and just let it be. Jefrey was surprise to hear Alaska calling Ariel cute. 

“Did Don really think she is cute?” Jefrey could not but smile secretly. Ariel likewise looks surprise to hear him call her cute. 

“Did he really find me cute?”
