Chapter Nineteen

Though there used to be get together in the past to introduce the election candidates to each other, but this time, the get together was because of Alaska. Mr. White and the others don’t believe Ariel will really get married to Alaska because she loves him, so they are bent on putting discord between them even if Ariel loves Alaska like she claimed.

In that way, they will find something to hold against Alaska and disqualify him from the election then Justin Truce will be able to win the election has they have wanted. 

And that evening, Mr. White had set a trap for both Alaska and Ariel, especially Ariel. 

Since all the candidates were to bring their families. The other candidates with Alaska were just four, Justin Truce the capital candidate, Alaska who is a threat to him and Mr. Bruno with Mr. Frick. Justin Truce is a young billionaire, who suddenly emerges and wanted to become the governor, he married Agnes Bret who was a former actress and had one child with her, who is a girl. 

Mr. Bruno is more elderly than them all and is the next candidate to Justin, which the people believe he might have chances against Justin, his children are grown-ups and his wife is elderly too. While Mr. Frick is age range with Alaska, he has a wife and a boy child, he seems to be running for the position just for popularity and don’t really take winning the election of importance. 

Which means the real candidates now are Alaska, Justin, and Mr. Bruno. 

At the get together, all other candidates with the board of election were all there before Alaska and Ariel arrived. 

Ariel wasn’t really feeling good attending the get together, she had enough for the day at the press conference. But what was she to do when she has no choice but to attend the get together and even have to pretend and lie about Alaska whom she hated so much and the killer of her fiancé. 

Alaska and Ariel enters the hall hand in hand, Ariel seems to know how to fake it more now. Her smiles seem more natural than she had thought. She hates the eyes fixed on her as she walks together with Alaska into the hall. 

Justin, on sighting Alaska and Ariel stands up holding a glass of wine walks to Alaska and Ariel. 

“Mr. and Mrs. Alaska, I should congratulate you on expecting a new member of your family” Justin said smiling. Alaska instantly blocks him, preventing him from Ariel. 

Alaska seems to know the get together was not just ordinary and might have something to do with him and Ariel, since he is the odd one there. 

“And who are you?” Alaska pretends not to know who Justin is. Ariel is surprise to see Alaska trying to protect her from Justin. 

“He should be the one I’m protected from not others” Ariel believes Alaska’s action was unnecessary and it was just for show. 

Justin looks pissed, but he forces a smile pretending to be acting friendly with Alaska and Ariel. 

“Oh! I’m Justin one of the election candidates” Justin knew that Alaska knows who he is, because he has been going on Television and social media to talk about him running for the position of the governor even before the campaign starts which was not allowed but because it’s Justin he was not penalized. 

“Oh!” Alaska also forces a smile. 

“Thank you” he replies and leave with Ariel. He is not afraid of Justin but because of Ariel, he decides to ignore him. Justin sneered, he really looks offended. He was not there to make friends with Alaska but to try and find out things about his marriage but he ignores him!

At the round table, all the candidates with their wives only were seated with the boards of election. 

“I appreciate the fact that you all respect this invitation even though it was impromptu” Mr. White said and smile. 

“Especially to Mr. Rain and his wife” he adds. 

“Now, every candidate will introduce themselves so that we will get familiar with each other and ensure a peaceful election” Mr. White said smiling. 

Everyone takes turns in introducing themselves. It was obvious Justin and his wife were to boast. When it’s Alaska and Ariel’s turn, Alaska introduce them but as Mr. and Mrs. Rain, surprising everyone because everyone except Mr. White knew him to be Rain. 

“I will like to drink to everyone. Cheers!” Mr. White said after the introductions. 

Everyone raises their glasses and drink, Ariel had forgotten about her fake pregnant. She almost drinks the wine but Alaska takes it from her and drink it instead smiling to her. 

Ariel frowns wondering why he will take the drink from her, but then she realizes when the women there fix their eyes on her. 

She quickly forces a smile; Alaska pours her some juice and gently hand it over to her acting caring towards her. Which surprise Ariel but she believes he must be acting like that because of his image. 

“Mr. Alaska, you must be so caring towards your wife” Agnes, Justin’s wife said to Alaska. 

Alaska did not mind her and just continue to tends to Ariel as if she was the only one there. 

“Mrs. Alaska, you are really a lucky woman. Getting married to a powerful man like Mr. Alaska who is equally caring and protective” Agnes turns to Ariel. Since Alaska decides to ignore her, she decides to taunt Ariel with her questions. 

Ariel forces a smile, she knows she cannot ignore her. 

“I have been curious; how do you meet Mr. Alaska?” Agnes asks looking at Ariel for answer. 

Ariel tries to answer her but Alaska answer for her instead. 

“Mrs. Truce, I believe you had everything at the live press conference” he stares at her coldly. Alaska knew she must be after Ariel. Ariel looks to Alaska’s face; her face warms up. 

Agnes looks a scared with Alaska staring coldly at her, but she is not ready to back down. 

“Of course! Mr. Alaska, but I think it will be good to hear it from Mrs. Alaska directly. Since we are all in the same boat now, I think we should be friends, don’t you think so Mrs. Alaska?” she forces a smile. 

Ariel don’t know what to say. Alaska could see right through her scheme. 

“Why will you want to be friends with my wife? We are clearly opponents in the election” Alaska shunned her. 

Agnes could see Alaska will not allow her to get through Ariel. Mr. White had told her to probe Ariel because he believes she will become Alaska’s weakness but who knows Alaska will keep defending her. 

“Mr. Alaska, you don’t need to mind the ladies that much. My wife meant no bad” Justin said smiling. 

Ariel could not believe Alaska will keep defending her like that, she looks to him.

Alaska leans in towards Ariel and whisper to her, Ariel almost froze with his sudden closer. 

“I’m going to the bathroom. I will be back very fast, don’t let anyone bully you while I’m gone just ignore them” he stands up to leave. Ariel’s face flush red with him whispering into her ear like that, she tries to hide her flushed face. 

Like Alaska said, the moment they see that Alaska left the room, they try to really bully her by staring at her. Looking at their faces alone, Ariel feels like entering into the ground. 

She instantly stands up and follows Alaska to avoid them. She also decides to go to the bathroom

As Alaska comes out of the bathroom door, a lady in a backless short gown was waiting for him. Her cleavage exposed to the eyes, her laps expose. She could be sad to be literally naked. 

Alaska looks at her and wonders what she was doing the moment she starts touching his face trying to seduce him. He watches her do whatever she intends doing even going to the extent of trying to kiss him. 

Alaska stops her, holding her hand to pull her away from him, but she won’t stop. 

“I really love dangerous men like you. My body moves towards them” 

Ariel who was also coming out from the female’s bathroom heard and try to see who the dangerous man is and it turns out to be Alaska. She could not believe Alaska was flirting with another woman, something seems to spark in her and she frowns. 

With the angle where she was looking from it really seems Alaska was the one flirting with the lady. 

“I knew all those stupid cares towards me was just a show!” she smirks angrily. 

“His wife? Lies!” she spat. 

Alaska who is oblivious of Ariel’s presence smirk mockingly. 

“My body moves for my wife only” he push her hand away and leaves.
