Chapter Seven

Ariel knew Alaska could kill her for what she did earlier, she realized how important the ball must be to him to spare her just like that, so to protect herself dealing with a ruthless mafia like him. She believes she needed to score a point with him.

Now that she knew her marriage was registered with Alaska and not Jack as she had expected, she believed Alaska must have definitely done something to Jack to get himself registered as her husband. 

“Just because of a position, he dares to harm Jack” Ariel thinks, feeling so bittered believing that Alaska must have actually killed Jack. But right now, she knew she had to pretend with him to first save her own head, then she will know what to after saving herself.

“Alaska, I must destroy you myself” Ariel thinks forcing a big smiling on her face as she goes hand in hand with Alaska into the ball room. 

As Alaska and Ariel walks together with Ariel holding his hand affectionately, all eyes focus on the two. The hall seems to grow silent, the ball was not for anything else but to disgrace Alaska and disqualify him from the election, because they he will not make it. 

Alaska had forcefully become one of the gubernatorial candidates for the position of the governor, it was a strange thing for a ruthless Mafia like Alaska to become the governor. But since no one could stop him, the board of election decided to make a rule against him if he will be qualified as one of the candidates. 

They ask him to get a wife and have a family, if not, he will be disqualified, they believed he will not be able to get himself anyone because, no one will dare to associate with someone like him. They were all very surprise to see him with someone. 

Mr. White who is the head of the election board, who had suggested the idea of Alaska getting himself a wife within the short period was so shocked to see him with Ariel, more surprising Ariel was holding Alaska’s hand affectionately.  

“Who is that lady with him?” the people start to murmur. 

“I don’t believe he will get himself a wife” they continued.

Mr. White and the others had already concluded that Alaska was lying to them about getting married since he had not arrived earlier and didn't pick his calls. 

But seeing Ariel and Alaska walk hand in hand, he quickly approached them.

 "Oh, Mr. Rain, you are finally here with your..." Mr. White wanted to verify if truly Ariel and Alaska had a husband-and-wife relationship.

 "My wife!" Alaska quickly replied. Ariel looks surprise to know that Alaska’s real name is Rain.

“He did have real name. Evil ones also have a name” Ariel smirked secretly.

"You are...?" Mr. Shawl decided to speak to Ariel to know if she was put up to it. 

"Mrs. Ariel A... Rain," Ariel cut him off instantly and forced a smile. Thankfully she heard Alaska’s real name from Mr. White, she would have said the Alaska instead of Rain.

Mr. White looked surprised. 

"I heard you got married recently; you must love your husband to get married to him," 

Mr. White knew that Alaska was not someone people wanted to associate with, so he wanted to find out if Ariel married him based on a contract or was forced by Alaska. 

Alaska looked anxious with Mr. White's question and decides to intervene. 

"Mr. White..."

 "Yes, I love my husband so much," Ariel interrupted him and looked into his eyes, then smiled like someone who was in love.

 She hugged Alaska's hand to herself smiling. Alaska looked shocked to hear her; he blinked. 

Mr. White believes Ariel must be pretending to love Alaska, because who would love someone as dangerous as Alaska?

“So, when did you meet? And how did you meet and get married so fast?” Mr. White asked. He believes if Ariel had married Alaska based on contract or had been forced, he will get to know through her words. 

“Mr. White, it’s a long story” she looks up to Alaska and force a smile. Alaska’s face turned sore, he dares Ariel to say nonsense with his facial expression. 

“I will love to hear it” Mr. White replies, he smirked believing Alaska will be exposed now.

“You don’t want to hear about our...” Ariel knew Mr. White was trying to get her into trouble, so he whispers into his ear.

“Our first sexual night”

Mr. White looks pale and quickly clear his throat.

"I believe you know who he is and how dangerous," Mr. White whispers back to her, he doesn’t want to believe Ariel was truly in love with Alaska. 

She smiled again. 

"Dangerous men are so type because they are handsome," she replied, smiling more.

Mr. White was surprise at Ariel’s behavior, he couldn't say anything and just left the two.

 Alaska looked dumbfounded by Ariel's response, he wondered what she whispered to Mr. White to make him retreat from probing. 

People would think she meant everything she said because she was really convincing.

Ariel smile to him.

"Alaska, you want me right. I will make sure you get what you wanted, but it's might be your end too" Ariel thinks staring into Alaska's eyes.

She believed since Alaska had killed Jack, she will have to revenge him. She determined to play along with Alaska, seduce him then get him killed too. 

 "Everyone," Mr. White called the attention of the people. 

"I present to you Mr. Rain and his new wife," he said, but they stayed silent, surprised that Alaska truly had a wife. 

"Cheers to them," he added, and everyone drank to both Alaska and Ariel reluctantly. 

“Did the mafia really get himself a wife within that short period?”

“She must be after money”

“Money must be everything to ladies of these days”

“Even if she loves money so much, don’t she love her life? He is way too dangerous to associate it. What if she eventually dies in his hands?”

“She must not have had good parents, because who will give their girl to someone like that?” the murmuring from the people fills the hall. Ariel could hear everything, she feels angered, she feels like plucking all their teeth out for saying what they don’t know. 

She never wanted to associate with Alaska, but what other choice does she have? She knew if she shows her displeasure about been with Alaska, it will be obvious he forced her and that she was pretending to be happy, so she kept it in. 

Hearing all of their murmurs, Alaska wanted to deal with them all, but he knew they must be trying to provoke him to disqualify him as one of the gubernatorial candidates, so he pulls Ariel to himself instead.

Ariel is shocked as Alaska suddenly pulls her into his embrace, he knew she must be affected by all the words flying around and wanted to keep her in check. 

He hugs her waist to his body, surprising everyone.

“The lady must really be shameless, displaying affection in public. Are they trying to rub it on us?” 

“You must be feeling frustrated with what those fools are saying, right?” Alaska said to Ariel. She stares into his eyes and wonders what he is trying to do. 

“And you must be thinking that this is the right opportunity for you to let out your frustrations and tries to run away again” he pins her to himself. Ariel feels pain from his hold but she dares not voice it. 

“He must be holding grudge because I run away earlier” she thinks, she wanted to save herself from his wrath for running away but it seems he is not the type to let go of offense. 

Ariel swallows her saliva nervously as she looks into Alaska’s angry face, she would have avoid his stares but she had no choice but to look to his face as he was holding her chin up.

“I... I do not think...” she wanted to say something to save herself but he cut him off.

“You will definitely be punished” he whispers in her ear, Ariel shivers under his hold at the mention of punishment. 

“Mr. Rain” Mr. White who believes that something must be wrong comes closer. 

“Mrs. Rain, is everything alright?” He calls Ariel. Alaska slowly let go of Ariel from his hold and turns towards Mr. White.

“Mr. White, I was having a good time with my beautiful wife” he turns back at Ariel who look strangely at him. He raises her chin up slowly and pulls close to her. 

“You dare not show your displeasure” he whispers to her.

“I...” Ariel wanted to clear the misunderstanding, but Alaska instead seals her mouth with his lips, believing she wants to say something against him to Mr. White.

Mr. White seeing the ruthless Alaska publicly displaying affection in his presence quickly turn around.

 Ariel looks shock being kissed like that before the people, but Alaska did not kiss her like she thought, instead he bites her lips as warning. Ariel feels pain from the bite, but she fearfully hides it.

"She must have been hired to do her job perfectly," Mr. White thought, still not believing Ariel married Alaska for love. 

"I must find out what is going on," he smirked wickedly.
