Chapter 20Jackson and Danielle strolled through the dark narrow hallway and came to a halt in front of the wooden door at the far end of the hallway. Jackson opened the door and allowed Danielle to walk in first before stepping in behind her. The room was semi-dark, and Danielle blinked her eyes simultaneously, trying to adjust her eyes to the dark room. Natural light from the sun has filtered through the small crack at the window, illuminating only the huge dark guy that was tied to an electric chair in the middle of the almost empty big room. The only thing in the room was a small bed by the closed window that looks like a hospital bed covered with a blue spreadsheet. At the other end was a long table with two wooden chairs. Danielle's eyes gazed at the dark guy who seemed not notice their presence yet. She averted her gaze to Henry behind him and nodded her head. Henry mutely nodded his head and pulled up his sleeve just above his ankle before waking the sleeping guy with a heavy
Chapter 21For three days now, Janette had refused to do any schoolwork, eat or talk to anyone. All she does was to seat at the balcony staring blankly at the peaceful serenity before her. She thought the news of her miscarriage was the worst news ever, but when she came to know about Michael’s dead; she felt as though her wall was scrambling and there was nothing she or anyone can do about it; oh, only if money can bring Michael back. She wiped because she remembered how Michael saved her that day. The coming vehicle was aiming for the back of the car where she was sitting, but Michael was fast enough to turn the wheel. He was a good man, a wonderful and loyal guard at that. Following the next evening, Danielle tucked Janette to sleep and watched her with concern and worry. She worried for her and her health too, even with the Doctor’s prescription sometimes is just hard for her to sleep at night. “Good night sunshine.” Danielle whispered and sighed. She took her time climbing the
Chapter 22“Ladies, meet king Justin Haley, the youngest king of Asturias and my beloved cousin.” Danielle introduced Prince Justin to them. Janette looked at Danielle and Justin in shock. A prince? She never knew Danielle came from a royal lineage; but now that she mentioned it, Janette could see the slight resemblance between the two siblings. “Oh, sweet Jesus!” Margaret said, staring directly at him. “Jan, this is the guy I told you guys about, the handsome man from the elevator; so you’re a king?” Justin looked at her in amazement with a stained smile on his face. “Yes, I’m a king.” He answered her and reached out his hand for a handshake. Almost too quickly, she took his hand. The handshake linger for a minute as Margaret refused to release his hand. She gave him a slutty look, “you look handsome.” Margaret told him; he nodded in appreciation and then slowly turned his gaze to Danielle. “Hello princess Danielle, my beloved sister. Why haven’t you been visiting us at the palace?”
Chapter 23Jackson pulled out his pistols from his waistband, pointing to the darkroom. He moved slowly with his feet barely touching the ground. The sound of gunshots floated in the room through the slightly opened dilapidated door. Everywhere inside the building was dark, but Jackson didn’t mind. He was more focused on finding Vincent as he walked majestically through the dark, narrow hallway. “I knew you will come sooner or later, my good friend.” Vincent’s manly voice echoed through the hallway. Jackson’s eyes roamed around. He could feel his own heartbeat against his chest. “Where are you, bastard? Show yourself.” Jackson yelled and took a few steps into the darkness, pointing his guns in the air. “Is nice to see you again — Jackson.” Jackson snarled, angry that he couldn’t see anything except the horrible voice of his enemy. “Are we playing a hide and seek game now?” Vincent laughed cordially, the sound of his boots clicking against the floor as he slowly approach Jackson. Jack
Chapter 24“Girl you are a loud screamed, I bet ya woke the neighbors up from their nap.” Margaret said and giggled. Janette’s cheeks suddenly turned vermilion red, she glared at her with a flushed face and replied; “just shut up Mag. Stop exaggerating okay.” Michelle who was sitting beside her sister cleared her throat and said. “But sis I agree with your friend for ones, you’re a good screamer. Ya practically chased us out of our room.” She turned and smacked her sister on the back of her head while glaring at her, the blushed on her face had deepened. “Please let her be. She’s right you know; I’m not a religious person but ya make me pray for God to deafen my ears.” “Its good that you two derived joy from embarrassing me. Remind me to never go out with you two again.” “Now you’re being dramatic Jan; I’m not sorry that the truth hurt.”“Touche, fuck you.” Janette said and turned to look towards the young lady serving the old couples few tables away from them. “What’s delaying our
Chapter 25“Why didn’t you tell me, babe?” Danielle looked furious. She runs her hand over her forehead in frustration. Janette lowered her head to face her covered lap on the bed; “that was what I wanted to tell you after we return from the clubhouse a week ago.” Danielle’s face quickly softened. She remembered Janette asking to speak to her, but she insisted that she take a rest. “I’m sorry, sweetie.” She sat down beside her on the bed. “It was stupid of me to believe them. I thought they were genuinely sorry. I’m going to end their career.” Janette said nothing, her thought lingered more on the good news they received early by the doctor. She unconsciously took her hand to her stomach and rub it gently; so I’m really pregnant again! She thought. “Are you feeling pain?" Danielle’s voice interrupted her thoughts, and she tilted her head to look at her before shaking her head; “no, no, I’m just happy.” She told the other woman truthfully, with her hand still lingering on her stomach.
Chapter 26A year passed by so quickly and Janette barely contain the joy in her heart. She enjoyed seeing all her family together; she didn’t realize how much she’d missed them, especially her mother. Her eyes gazed at her parents as they engrossed themselves in a chitchat over the luncheon table. Although she wasn’t expecting that her parents would travel all the way from New York to see her three months old baby but she was glad they came. All thanks to Danielle and Jackson. They really got her by surprise; they’re the reason she now has her family and friend seated next to her with happiness on their faces. Tears of joy filled her eyes. She longed to cover her face and weep at the wonder of Jackson’s and Danielle’s king and caring gesture towards her. Danielle glanced at Janette, wondering what’s running through her mind. Curious to know the reason for Janette’s quietness, she moved her head closer to her ears and whispered; “what are you thinking about Sunshine?” She looked at he
Chapter 27“I can’t believe we’re doing this.” Janette muttered as they walked through the long hallway. “Me too. But why haven’t you told Danielle and Jackson yet? I thought the plan was to tell them.” Margaret said and tilted her head to glance at Janette, who had her hands tucked in her jacket pockets. Glancing at her friend, she drew a ragged breath and removed her right hand from her pockets to scratch her head. “I’m afraid they might not agree. I just thought to surprise them; if Sol and Rebecca arrived, they won’t have a choice than to let them stay.” Janette wasn’t sure of what she was doing. Perhaps agreeing to Margaret’s idea to allow Solomon to stay with them was a bad idea. Her eyes shifted all around with nervousness. “Perhaps you are right, I’m sorry Jan, I shouldn’t have invited them.” Margaret said slowly as they strode into the elevator. After Janette pressed the button, she moved back to stand beside her friend, tilting her head to look at her; “it’s fine. Sol is you
