Linda POV

"Thank you," I said after my feet touched the ground.

Drake helped me off the motorcycle. And now my body still felt unsteady, as if it were moving. Until I had to hold onto the motorcycle to stand upright.

"Is this your first time?" he asked. He watched me intently. A moment later, he reached out his hand again, but this time I avoided it.

"Yes, it's my first time." I took a deep breath, and after that, the dizziness in my head subsided a little. It seemed that I had been deprived of oxygen because I couldn't breathe freely inside the helmet, which I wasn't used to.

"How are you feeling? Are you feeling better?"

"Yeah at least I’m not nauseous anymore."

"Then let's go inside. I'll get you something to drink and you can rest for a while, sitting down." Drake held out his hand again. But this time I refused.

"I'm fine. I can walk by myself."

Drake nodded and put both hands in his leather jacket. "Okay. I'll walk beside you. Just in case you suddenly faint."

I knew it was

Linda POV"You can get off now, Linda," Drake said. I got off Drake's motorcycle. "Okay." I turned around to meet Jude, who was waiting for me in the library. But I couldn't because Drake pulled my bag. "How can I contact you? I mean, I don't know what time you're free tomorrow to go there again."I sighed and looked for my phone in my bag. "Do I need to meet you at the clinic again?"I held out my palm. "Where's your phone?""Just a minute." Drake looked for it in his bag. Then he gave it to me. I connected one of my and Drake's chat applications. After it was successful, I returned the phone to him. "Call me on that number. You see my name, right? Linda."Drake looked at his phone screen and a smile appeared on his face. "Okay. I understand.""Okay. Then I'll be going now," I said goodbye. I put my phone back in my bag and walked a little faster after receiving a new message from Jude. "Linda, wait."I stopped, took a deep breath, and turned around. "What else?"Drake pointed t

Linda POVI stopped walking and turned to look at Drake. I looked at him seriously. "I know you're just making up excuses. Your mother doesn't look tired. So what's the real reason you ended our conversation when I didn't get a clear picture of her condition?"I didn't expect Drake to pull me into a room that I later found out was a library. He closed the door and blocked it with his body. "I want to tell you and remind you, if possible, not to talk like that in public. My mother might hear it. And that would be a disaster."I folded my arms. "Now we're here. So just answer my question."Drake sighed. "Mom doesn't look tired, but she doesn't look calm. I'm just worried she might get mad and hurt us all.""She accepted me nicely. I don't think she would do that," I said."She's uncomfortable with your questions.""Which ones?""I don't know. But it seems like there's one sentence or question that makes her react uncomfortably."If that's Drake's answer, then don't expect me to believe

  • Sparks Fly With My Hockey Alpha   Chapter 13 An Unusual Reaction

Drake POV It was nothing new for my mother to call me by my brother's name instead of my own. I might have been angry and upset in the past, but now I accepted it. As long as she doesn't throw a tantrum, that's enough for now. As long as I don't add to her suffering, it doesn't matter if she doesn't recognise me. "Oh by the way, Jake, could you get my journal about my time with your father? It's under my pillow." I was quite surprised when she said that. If she kept the journal that close to her, it meant her emotions were unstable. Bloody hell, I only found out now. No one told me. If I had known, I wouldn't have asked Linda to come with me today. But what can I do, it's too late now. What started here must be finished as soon as possible. "Jake?" My brother's name was called again. Not by my mother, but this time by Linda. She smiled and gave me a look with her eyes. "Oh right, ma, I'll get it for you," I replied finally. "Thank you, my dear. I can always coun

Linda POV"Meet Linda, she's my mom, Riley," Drake whispered.I blinked a few times to make sure I was seeing right. Riley, I'd never heard that name before. But her face looked familiar. It was like I'd met her before. But where?"Hey, what's wrong? Have you started the treatment?" Drake patted my shoulder. I removed his hand from there. "I haven't done anything yet. I'm just observing her to analyze her condition.""Oh, okay. Let me know when you start."I just nodded as I watched her approach me. Her gaze was probing. Perhaps, like me, who was also a little surprised, she just wanted to find out who I was. She stopped when she reached me. She looked me up and down and looked back at me with a curious expression. Actually, being stared at like this made me want to talk. But I remembered Drake's words that I shouldn't talk to his mother without his instructions. Besides, I also didn't want to suddenly make her emotions unstable. Physically, she was fine, but mentally, she was

Linda's POVI glanced at Drake several times because he was suddenly very calm. And several times I also found him eating heartily. Honestly, it made me wonder. I mean, it turns out he can still eat well in this condition. It's strange."Why, Linda? I've noticed you looking at me. Is the food not good?"I almost dropped my spoon, but luckily I was able to hold it tight again. "It's nothing. I wasn't looking at you. I was looking around.""Why?""I'm quite impressed with the design of this house," I replied casually."Oh, really? It was designed by my father. I haven't told you that he's good at interior design, have I?" I shook my head. "No. But this house is really nice. Even though it's big, it feels warm." In reality, it was the opposite. The house was big and felt empty even though it was filled with decorations and belongings. "Unfortunately, I can't pass that compliment on to him. You know, I don't know where he is."I smiled awkwardly. "Yeah, that's okay.""But thankfully, t

  • Sparks Fly With My Hockey Alpha   Chapter 10 What Should I Believe?

Linda POVI immediately drank the water from the glass I had filled myself. Only then did my throat feel relieved and my coughing stopped. I finished the glass of water in a few gulps. It was actually quite rough, but what else could I do? I needed a drink."Unfortunately, I poisoned the water in the teapot. So it's useless for you to change glasses."For the second time, I dropped the glass. But this time it wasn't on purpose, I was just so surprised. I was so shocked that I grabbed my throat.Oh, was I gonna die from poison? Here? In my enemy's home?Drake suddenly laughed after a long silence. "I'm joking, Linda. There's no poison. It's just plain water.""That's not funny," I snapped. "Besides, you're so careful, like I would put something in your food or drink here."I glanced at the broken glass beneath me and sighed. "I'm always careful wherever I am and whoever I'm with. My parents told me to be careful.""Your parents must love you very much."I squeezed the tablecloth unti
