Chapter 9

Aurora gritted her teeth.

Luca didn't waste anymore time staring at her,he walked past her his shoulders brushing hers.

The bodyguards went after him.

Andrea got up from her seat and pulled her to the dinner table.

Mrs Genovese's cutleries clanked on her ceramic plate followed by her loud and long hiss,after which she stormed off the house.

Aurora wondered why these two were unexpectedly kind to her.As she began eating,she stopped at a point.

"Not being ungrateful,but I have to know why you're both kind towards me" she broke the silence.

Andrea raised her head,

"What would we gain by acting wicked towards you?" she answered.

Aurora studied her.

"I disgraced your brother-in-law." she returned

"Being kind to you doesn't mean we justify what you did" answered Leo "We're just doing what is right"

He wiped his lips and got up from his seat.After planting a soft kiss on Andrea's forehead he grabbed his suit jacket and left the house.

Again,Aurora missed Matteo.

Everything she was seeing between Leo and Andrea are something that her and Matteo used to do.

"Hey.." Andrea broke her chain of thought "It's only normal for them to be mad at your behaviour" she explained "Why don't you just apologize?"

"Why should I?" retorted Aurora "I didn't do anything wrong"

Andrea stared at her.

Aurora shrugged.

"No one listened to me when I disagreed to this marriage.How else would I prove my point if not running away?"

"Now you're married to him and you cannot afford to be at war with your family." Andrea spoke calmly not minding Aurora's revolting tone.

"Your family" she corrected "I am not accepted here and I don't want to be accepted."

"I can't even imagine myself being a part of this.. family" Aurora continued "I will work hard and pay back all the debt my parents owe your brother-in-law"

"I am sorry,Mr Russel" apologized Aurora for the second time

Mr Russel continued to stare at her.

"I knew you might show up late or not show up at all considering the fact that you ran away from your own wedding"

He was expecting her to say something,but she didn't.

"Tell me,Aurora how could you do something like that? Didn't you know to whom you were getting married to?"

"Sir, I'll prefer we don't dive into my personal life" came her reply

"I am not married to the Don." she lied "That was the past now please can we forget about it"

"Please inform the rest of the employees that I'm not married to the Mafia.When I walked in they were all staring at me like I am no longer a part of-"

"We can't entirely blame them." he cut her short "No one wants to have an encounter with Don Genovese.Everyone will make sure to stay away from you as from now on"

"Why? Have I turned to a plague?"

Mr Russel got up up from his chair.

"Greater than that" he answered "The truth is most of the men have eyes on you,Aurora.You're one fierce woman" he grinned

"However now that the Mafia has clutched you-"

"He hasn't" she returned firmly "I told you I'm not married to him!"

Mr Russel smiled "Do you really not know the small town you live in,girl? This is Riverdale!"

Aurora didn't understand.

Mr Russel spread out his arms.

"We have arranged a small party for you tonight.Just a small honor, Aurora"

He came close to her "How could you keep such thing from me,Aurora?"

He held her hands "I thought we were friends?"

Aurora gasped when he pressed his hand against hers.She immediately withdrew.

He smiled ridiculously and stepped back,

"Still,I wish you a very happy married life" he turned "Aurora Genovese"
