Chasity Dawson P.O.V
By the time my last class had finished and the bell had rung. I headed straight to my locker to wait for Payton. Luckily her locker, and Maddie’s locker, was right next to mine. When I reached my locker I grabbed my other text books and stuffed them into my backpack, to do my homework later at Payton’s house. I was so focused on what I was doing; that I did not hear the two other guys behind me.
“Hello,” said someone behind me.
I turned around and there before me, stood John and Giovanni. My eyes widened in surprise, because I have never spoken to them before either. Even though they haven’t said anything else yet, I had a hunch that they were here to get info from me on why Joe approached me. I closed my locker and turned around fully to face them. I was not nervous to speak to them, because although these two boys were handsome as well. They were not the one I was crushing on, Joe is.
“Hi,” I replied with a smile.
“Chasity right?” asked John, even though I knew, he knew my name. Not only that, but we have all seen each other, every time I go to Joe’s house to meet my mom after I leave Payton’s house. Even though I have never spoken to them, and Joe. They have seen me around the house, more than Joe; due to the fact that Joe was the one I always avoided, and chose to gaze adoringly from afar.
I nodded my head in reply to his question.
“I am John, and this is Giovanni,” he introduced himself.
“Call me Gio,” said Gio, from behind John, as he winked at me.
I laughed and replied “I know who you guys are. You are Joe’s friends.”
Gio nodded his head and stepped forward “What my American friend and I are really trying to ask is; What is going on with you and our friend Joe?” he smiled at the end, with a teasing smile.
John rolled his eyes at Gio “We were supposed to be subtle.”
Gio shook his head “You and I being here, talking to her, is far from subtle,” he then gestured around us “Look at the curious eyes around us.”
John and I looked around us and noticed that Gio was right. There were a lot of students looking at the three of us at my locker and walked a bit slower as they were heading to the school entrance. Others, were a bit obvious as they stood by their locker and took their sweet time taking out their books, as they watched the three of us. Everyone here in our high school have never seen them step forward to associate with anyone else, other than Joe and the rest of their teammates. So to see them talking to me, is unbelievable.
John then turned back to me, shook his head, sighed and then said “Nosy people should definitely mind their own business. Those are the worst.”
Gio scoffed, and looked at John in amusement. He raised his eyebrow and tilted his head at John in an amused look. As if he was trying to say something with his eyes to John, that he did not want me to hear. John grinned back at Gio, so I am assuming he received the message loud and clear.
John then looked back at me and asked “Like Gio said before, what is going on with you and Joe?”
“If Joe wanted you to know, wouldn’t he have already told you?” I replied back with a question.
“If he did not want us to know, wouldn’t he have talked to you in private without us seeing him call your name and walk towards you earlier this morning?” he asked back with a grin.
I put my hands on my hip and my backpack over my shoulders when I saw Payton and Maddie coming near the three of us.
“Ask Joe,” I replied with an apologetic expression, as I walked away from them and headed towards my two friends.
“What is all that about?” Maddie asked as she held her books in her hands and nodded towards Gio and John.
I turned back around and saw the two of them leaning against my locker, watching me.
“They just wanted to know the reason why Joe wanted to talk to me,” I replied back as I headed towards the school exit with my friends.
Payton looked back at the two boys still leaning against my locker watching us walk away and saw John wink at her. She quickly turned her head back around, now facing forward; her cheeks turning a rosy red color.
“Did you tell them?” she asked me, her cheeks still a bit red.
I shook my head “If Joe wanted them to know, then he would have already told them.”
Maddie looked perplexed, “Why would he not tell them that his mom told him to tell you, to tell your mom that she could have the weekend off? It is literally not a big deal.”
Payton nodded her head up and down “It does sound silly to keep it a secret.”
I shrugged my shoulders “Beats me,” as if I was just as perplexed as them. The whole explanation itself was a lie.
“Do you need a ride home?” Payton asked, as she looked at Maddie.
Maddie shook her head “No thank you, I will catch the school bus instead.”
Payton and I never understood the real reason why Maddie rather catch the bus home instead of us dropping her off. It was quicker and more comfortable for us to drop her off, instead of waiting for the school bus and sitting in a bus filled with annoying high school students. Even though we are high school students too, Payton and I are definitely not annoying to be around.
So we do not count, I thought to myself.
Payton once asked me if it was because Maddie did not want us to see her house and was embarrassed. I shook my head in reply because I have seen Maddie’s house and it is more extravagant than Payton and Joe’s. I would know this because I have been to Maddie’s house once, when I drove to her house, using my mom’s car because I had to stop by to grab something from her. Maddie’s house was beautiful both on the inside and the outside.
Luckily for me, Maddie ended up giving me a tour of the house when I begged her to let me see the rest of it. Normally I would have not done that, but the house was beautiful and huge; near the size of a castle. I wanted to see the rest of it so badly. My favorite part was the garden in the back of the house. It was filled with all types of flowers and other plants, that made it look enchanted. It kind of explained the reason, why she wanted to open up her own flower shop.
It was that day, that I asked her why she would catch the bus to school, when it looked like she could afford her own car, or driver to take her back home. She laughed and said some short reply, of her wanting to feel normal. Some part of me did not believe her, and thinks that she did not tell me the real reason for doing that. I decided not to push it, and am sure she will tell us when she is ready.
Payton and I waved bye to Maddie and headed towards her car. When we got into the car, Payton drove out of the school parking lot and headed towards her house. When we arrived at her house, Payton pulled into her driveway and we both got out of the car. She headed into the house first and I stopped midway, right before I reached the front door. I stopped and turned around to face Joe’s house. Some part of me hoping that he was already home, and that I was able to get a glimpse of him before I had to head over to his place.
I did not see him or his car parked in his driveway. What I did see, was a black car slowly pulling up to his house. It stopped and parked in the front of Joe’s house. The windows were tinted and it was hard to see who was the driver. I have never seen this car before at his house. A small part of me had a bad feeling about this.
I fully turned around to see who the owner of the black car was. A tall man wearing a baseball cap and shades, stepped out of the car. His black jacket had a logo on it, and it was too hard to see it clearly from afar. The bad feeling, I felt earlier, now got even worse, because it looked like he was carrying something in his hands. As soon as the shape and size of the item registered in my mind, I gasped in realization at what the item is.
It was an envelope.

Joe Bandit P.O.VI felt like someone punched me in the gut and I couldn’t breathe. When Gio told me, what happened to John I almost joined him in destroying the house. That didn’t happen, only because Chasity heard Gio throwing things and came running downstairs. When I told her that John died, she threw her arms around me and hugged me tight as she cried her eyes out. My eyes flooded with tears, and I tried to keep it at bay but it was useless. If John saw me crying right now, he’d tell me, “Only girls cry Joe.” Then I’d push him and say “You’ve cried before too! So that makes you a girl!” We’d laugh and head to the theater room to watch a movie. It pained me to know that we would never get to do that again. When the exchange for my mother had been made after my dad signed the documents that would give James complete control of my father’s company, shots were fired. Andr
Joe Bandit P.O.V“You want to know what’s so funny?” I laughed out loud at the sudden thought.Gio and Chasity looked at me. “What?” they asked in unison.I shook my head, “Earlier I could have sworn I saw Payton, as we were coming down the elevator.”Gio’s fork dropped from his hand and onto his plate in shock. “You saw Payton? Here?” He rushed out, looking around in alert. The smile that was on my face fell.“Well, I think I saw her.” I said starting to feel uneasy. “I could be wrong. Why? Is that not a good thing?”Gio stood up and shook his head.“The call that I just had, was from one of our men. He said that he found videos of Payton meeting James Cotton last week and was at your house today while you and your parents were out. She was there when your mother was abducted. Your mother didn’t se
Joe Bandit P.O.VI looked at Chasity’s eyes and couldn’t believe how lucky I got to have this girl in my life. Our situation is weird, considering the fact that her dad tried to kill my parents, but I’m still grateful that one of the results is something that led Chasity into my life. Not wanting to say this, but needing to come clean I tell her my secret, “Chasity, I knew that your dad was alive.”Her eyes widened. “Why didn’t you tell me?”She didn’t pull away from me, so this was a good sign.“My father advised against it. We argued so many times, because I wanted to tell you and he didn’t feel like it was the time to do it.”She looked down, “I heard you guys arguing one time in the office. The door wasn’t fully shut. You were screaming at each other and one of the things you said is something along the lines of, a girl having the right t
Joe Bandit P.O.VThe whole car ride to the safe house, was spent in total silence. No one spoke and no one needed to. I didn’t know that my dad had a safe house. Did my mom know about it? If she did, why didn’t she tell me? It was now an hour and we still weren’t there. We were heading to the mountains and the deeper we went I saw less and less proof of civilization. An hour later, Gio finally spoke up, “We’re here.”I watched as he pulled into a lane that led to a small shack.“You’ve got to be kidding me Gio,” I couldn’t help but say. “I don’t mean to sound spoiled but my father is a rich man. I assumed that he would have bought a bigger safe house.”Gio got out of the car and smirked at me. “Your father is a very rich man indeed.”I raised my brow at the way he spoke. As if he knew something I didn’t.Gio went to Annie to help her walk,
Joe Bandit P.O.VI watched as the man my father brutally beaten groaned from the immense pain he was feeling. His face all bloodied up and bruised, he looked almost unrecognizable. Then again, I’m sure any man would if they were beaten the way Andrew was.“So, what now dad?” I asked, as I watched him pace back and forth. He looked at John instead of me, “I want all the men to be at Owls Tower at eleven. We are meeting James at midnight. He wants me to sign over the rights to my company.”“Yes sir,” nodded John. This is so weird seeing my best friend acting this way. As Andrew was getting a beating from my father, John confessed that my dad hired him as my body guard. John’s family are a part of a secret organization that protects very wealthy men. It doesn’t matter if the person is good or bad. If the money pays well, then the bodyguard the client receives will be even better.
