Chapter 13

Melanie laughed along with her friends who sat around the counter of the little kitchen in her home.

“Mel, dear. I think I just saw the mail man drop off some letters in the box. Could you please bring them in?”, Her grandmother's voice came from her bedroom right next to where they were.

“Sure, Nana” , Melanie answered and excused herself to go check out what letters had been stuffed violently into their tiny mailbox.

As she gathered up the letters, a particular logo on one of the envelopes caught her eye and her breath caught in her throat. It was the logo of the company she had interviewed for over a week ago and was still awaiting a response and though she hadn’t felt much hope, her heart was now viciously pounding against her chest threatening to burst through her body.

They had sent her a letter. Did that mean that they wanted to hire her? That had to be why. Companies didn’t send envelopes to applicants to reject them. They could just as easily done it over the phone or i
