Trap

"Miss Weisberg, what do you mean?" 

Just a moment ago Alicia defended her, a moment later she pushed all the blame on her. Alicia has always been a considerate sister, but it seems like she turned upside down today.

"You're too naive Jessie. You should do it right, if you really need that money. You can come to talk to me and I'll gladly help you." Alicia continued her words with a thoughtful exhortation. Closed the gap of suspicion that had appeared in the corner of Jessica's heart.

Such a scheme… It's easy for Alicia to frame her, but why?

"I—I really didn't do something like this, Miss Weisberg. Please trust me!"  Jessica didn't want to beg for forgiveness like this, she was completely innocent.

"Well, say you didn't do this, then how do you explain the existence of that five million dollars on your account?"

Jessica could think about anything but someone hacking into her bank account.  This meticulous work can't just happen by a false error… they’re too specific. 

"Okay, for now you can return the five million dollars to the company account. Afterward, I will try my best to defuse the internal audit board's disappointment and see if you can avoid the punishment.”

Jessica could barely answer Alicia's question. Her suspicions vaporized when she heard the solution, but her anxiety couldn't be greater.

For goodness sake! It’s even no longer in Jessica’s account, that damned money has moved into her mother's account. Jessica wasn't even sure that her mother could just let all that money sit idle without a touch. 

Will there be money left to return? Her mother said it was for her brother's tuition fee. How would she explain it to her poor little brother!

"Miss Weisberg, that money… Could you give me some time to return it?"  Jessica timidly asked.

Alicia snorted, "Jess, stop playing around. You said you didn't take the money, but it was already in your account. We just asked for it back and you will get forgiveness. Is it hard for you?"

This was truly more difficult than what Alicia had mentioned.  Although it looks easy.

"Miss Weisberg, to be honest, the money is not in my account right now. They have moved to my mother's account."

"You mean you stole it and gave it to your mother?"  Alicia came up with accusations.

"No! I really didn't steal it, Miss Weisberg."  Jessica defended herself once again.

"If you didn't mean to take the money, then why did you give it to your mother?"

"I swear! I don't know how they got to my mother's account."  Jessica was desperate.  Her tears began to drip. She had never experienced this kind of fear in her life.

No one can see but Alicia's lips smiled bitterly before giving Jessica a solution she could offer. "Then…  I will loan you another five million dollars to replace the company funds,"

Jessica looked at Alicia. It was a pretty good solution for now, but it meant that she would owe a sizable sum. It will take several years to pay off. Jessica was a little afraid to accept it, but even more afraid of her situation.

"Miss Weisberg... It’s so generous of you. Although, I’m afraid of how can repay—”

"It is okay, there are many ways to repay me. I don't need anything much right now, but I you insist on repaying me, " Alicia looked troubled to say: "how about you steal Theodore from me? Seduce him and get him away from me."

Hearing Alicia come up with such a request, Jessica's tears stopped flowing.  Of all the requests that Alicia could ask for, she could not possibly choose such a request all of a sudden. "That would be nice if you would help me on that one."

"Helping you by stealing Theodore?" Jessica digested the request carefully.

"Yes, if you could do that I will help solve your problem properly. I will immediately send the replacement funds to your account."

Jessica could count on how many times Alica made such a request. Alicia became very clear with her request. “... I'm sorry but tell the truth, Alicia. Are you the one who set me up?"

Seeing what benefits that Alicia might get by trapping her, Jessica could only be sure that the scheme was one thing that Alicia had planned. She had been trapped by Alicia.

"Oh, dear. Do you think I'll have the heart to trap you like this? Jessie, even though my desire to get away from Theodore was that strong, I can't possibly have the heart to do this to you. Think back, I always  thought of you as my own sister."

"This couldn't be clearer, Miss Weisberg. If it weren't you, who else would trap me in a scheme like this and then ask such a request in return.”

It’s upsetting for Jessica to think further about it. Should Alicia go this far to take advantage of her? It’s not like she would go with the plan, but they could come up with another solution. 

"I know the situation is regrettable for both of us. You know best what the engagement means to me and things related to Theodore. I've always aligned myself with Theodore to maintain our relationship, still I can't force everyone to accept Theodore the way I do. For some people…”

Someone else … "Could it be, Mr. Weisberg?"

Jessica had no other name that she could name as a suspect.  Isn't this too lowly for Mr. Weisberg do?
