As we drew closer to the exit, a sudden fear tore through me. It was the kind of fear that made you shake from your core to your skin. My heart started beating and my legs became heavy. I couldn’t move. I was looking at the entrance but I couldn’t get to it anymore. It dawn on me that leaving the safe walls of this castle meant my relationship with Rapunzel was going to be tested. She might even find out about what had actually brought me to the castle. The men following after me might catch up with me. I might end up complicating Rapunzel’s life.

What was I thinking when I accepted to take her out of the castle so soon?

Those guards might have already printed out my pictures and other identification for people to see. I stole the lost princess’s crown! The entire city would be looking out for me.
