Chapter 4 - Questioned Her Sanity

Jade went downstairs after getting dressed. She stood rooted on her spot when her gaze landed on Tyler's bone chilling gaze.

Tyler inched forward, eating up the distance between them in a mere seconds with his large strides.

"Where do you think you're going?" Tyler murmured when he was close to her, then snaked his arm on her waist and pulled her closer to him.

Consumed by the success of the mission, Tyler had been vigilant at all time.

"Don't forget our mission," he whispered in her ear.

Jade's thick long lashes fluttered. Heat crept up her face, turning it to crimson red. She rested her palm against his chest to push him away.

"Thank you for reminding me, I'll always remember it," she smiled sweetly at him.

She will never let herself forget her revenge. She has to exact retribution for the death of her parents.

Sensing someone was staring at them. Tyler leaned forward and gave her a peck on the cheek.

Due to shock, her eyes went wide as a saucer.

"Someone is looking at us," Tyler hugged her to hide her stunned reaction.

She didn't move and allowed him to embrace her. However, her inside was churning.

If it wasn't for her revenge, she wouldn't allow a complete stranger to hug her. She never allowed any man to touch the tip of her finger let alone embrace her.

However, this jerk had done it without so much effort. Jade used up all her willpower to kill the urge to knee kick this man.

"I'm going to my apartment," Jade said and wiggled out from his hold.

"Let's have breakfast first, then we'll head to your apartment," Tyler held her hand and pulled her towards the dining room.

Jade opened her mouth to scold him for taking advantage of the situation but the words died down in her throat as a maid showed up.

At the dining table, Tyler watched her eat her breakfast, silently. The way she moved was graceful and finesse.

The butler poured water in the glass as he gestured to him to fill it. He drank half of it then put it down.

"Babe, we have to go to the old mansion tonight," Tyler shocked Jade when he called her 'babe'.

She choked and coughed violently.

'This man will be my death'

Tyler patted her back gently. He lowered his head and his lips twitched a little.

"Here drink it," he offered her a glass of water.

Jade took the glass of water and gulped it down. She closed her eyes containing the annoyance that was welling up within her.

"Are you now, okay, baby?" Tyler said, looking at her full of concern.

Jade's nose flared up. Putting a tight leash to her anger. She was on the verge of exploding.

'Why did I agree to marry this jerk? What on earth came to me that I just believed General Max?'

She questioned her sanity for making such a decision.

If she only knew that the man General Max was talking about was the same man who came into her hotel suite and accused her of plotting against him instead of thanking her for helping him.

Jade lowered her head to conceal the rioting emotions inside her chest.

Her gaze settled on the drinking glass in her hand. Then her eyes caught sight of the unused drinking glass in front of her.

She looked in Tyler's direction, there was no drinking glass before him.

She gasped when she remembered that butler filled his drinking glass with water but drank only half of it.

She sprang up from her seat and hurried to the bedroom.

"Baby," Tyler called her and ran after her.

She ignored him thoroughly. She just wanted her peace back.

She threw up everything she ate.

Tyler needed not to pretend since they were in the bedroom.

He sat on the couch and leisurely read finance news on his iPhone while Jade vomited her guts out.

Jade smirked when she spotted Tyler sitting on the couch while watching financial news.

'This man should have not joined the military and become an actor instead.'

Jade walked over and stood two meters away from him. "I am going to my apartment."

She waited not for his answer and walked to the door when he said nothing, but before she could open the door, Tyler grabbed her hand.

"Stop acting, no one is here to spy on us," her lips twitched mockingly.

"You have to be very careful or you'll screw up the whole thing," Tyler reminded her like a child that doesn't know what to do.

"Yes, I know," she mentally rolled her eyes to him.

Despite being annoyed to death with this man already, she didn't dare to openly defy him, not forgetting what he did to her last night.

She was probably the only woman who experienced being pointed with a gun by her husband during the wedding night due to anger.

"I'll come back later," Jade said while her other hand reached for his hand and removed his grip around her hand.

Tyler didn't let go of her hand. "I'll go with you."

"We have to tell Jason about it. The boy should not be kept in the dark. No matter what, that is his mother," Jade said and sighed. "If he wants to see her for the last time, we'll allow him," Jade said again. They can't change the fact that Sophia is Jason's mother. If he wants to see his mother they will allow it. Jade felt the need for Jason to see his mother for the last time so he could get closure. As usual the dinner table was lively as the family bantered while they're having dinner. The family practice the stiff table manners among the aristocrats when they're having dinner with outsiders. But when they were eating with their relatives they didn't follow the stiff table manners. Tyler and Jade didn't want their kids to feel like being shackled. "Jason, mom and dad are going to talk to you about your mother," Tyler said while the family was seated at the patio after the meal. Timothy, when he heard it, being sensible, he stood up and about to leave but Jason stopped hi

Morning came, Jade abruptly sat up. As soon as she woke up she remembered Jason. "Hey, easy," Tyler's voice rang out. "Baby, is Jason back? Did you find him?" While she was surrendering herself to oblivion last night, she heard him promise to find Jason. "Yes," Tyler answered but the glum in his face made Jade's breathing erratic, she staggered backward. "What happened to him? Where is our son?" Jade was starting to panic again. "Answer me!" Jade said when he didn't answer. "Calm down, baby," Tyler pulled her to him. He swallowed. He doesn't know how to tell her that Jason received a hard beating from Sophia and the boy was in a coma and hadn't woken up yet. "How could I calm down? You're not telling me where my son is?" Jade was a sobbing mess. "Shhhh, alright, calm down first and I'll tell you," Tyler stroked her hair. "Tyler, please hurry up and tell me. I want to see him," Jade pleaded. "We found Jason last night, but he's in the hospital now. Sophia treated him brutally

Hatred flickered in the gray orbs of the young boy as he stared at the woman called his mother. Not once did he feel loved by her. Even when he was in her womb, she did not consider the effect of her vices on his health. In his mother's heart he wasn't a person at all. He was just a tool. A tool she could use so that she could keep Tyler. The woman his mother was berating, the woman who wasn't related to him was the one who surrounded her with unconditional love. The love he craved from his mother was given by Jade without an ulterior motive. Since the day Tyler took him back Jade did nothing but to make him feel loved and accepted. It wasn't for a show. With or without people surrounding them Jade was consistently kind and loving to him. The same love she showered Timothy and the twins was the same love showered to him by Jade. Jade hasn't carried her in her womb but in the heart of the boy, Jade is his real mother. "You! Why do you look at me like that? Did she brainwash you

In the morning, Jade walked into the kitchen with a limp. She gulped when she saw the back of her man. His tight fit t- shirt and joggers defined his broad shoulders, slim waist and perky butt. His muscles flexed with every move he made. "Didn't you have your fill last night? Have you?" Tyler chuckled, snapping Jade out from her reverie. Slightly annoyed, Jade rolled her eyes and snorted. Tyler chuckled and continued cooking. The kids and Jade were already at the table when Tyler was done cooking. Timothy and Jason praised their dad for his cooking skill. Tyler was smiling from ear to ear due to the boys' approval. "I'll take the boys to school and be back after that," Tyler said while he nuzzled her neck. "Aren't you going to the company?" Jade asked while she brushed her hair. "I've been away for four consecutive days, I would like to spend time with my wife," he kept nuzzling her neck. "Today is your day off and I have to grab this opportunity to have you all myself while

A confused Jade walked out of the hospital flanked by bodyguards. Once seated on the rear passenger seat, Jade fished out her phone from her bag and called Tyler. "Babe," Tyler's voice came over. Jade took note of his tired voice. "Is something the matter? Why did you send bodyguards to pick me up?" Jade tried to speak as calm as she could but her words gave away how she felt at this time. "It's Sophia… She's on the loose," Tyler didn't want her to get frightened but he won't let her keep in the dark. He wanted her to be vigilant. "How? The correctional facilities have tight security, how did she manage to escape?" Jade frantically asked. Her breathing became erratic thinking about her four children. Now that Sophia is at large, the children would be her easy target to inflict damage to her and Tyler. "Her parents were able to get a court decision to transfer Sophia from the correctional to a mental institution due to her mental illness," Tyler answered. "Jadey, Sophia is a cr
