Jade's face contorted as she tried hard to contain the rage in her heart.
The main reason she decided to go to her apartment was to have some peace. But this man wouldn't let her have a respite.
"I'll come back before dusk," she said, hoping that he would let her go by herself.
"I will go with you, whether you like it or not," he spat his words authoritatively like a military general giving orders to his subordinates.
She can't show her anger so she resorted to mocking him.
"Sir, yes, sir, " Jade said as if she saluted her commander.
Instead of getting exasperated at her mocking, Tyler's lips twitched.
Tyler held her hand the whole time they made their way to where his car was parked.
Jade couldn't do anything but to swallow her anger. She can't even scowl at Tyler as there were servants looking at them.
"Where to madam?" Tyler said, while Jade buckled up.
She raised her eyebrow, trying to decipher if he was teasing her. However, she's got no clue as his expression was cold and decided to type the address on the navigation system screen.
He slammed on the accelerator. And the car zoomed off.
"Could you slow down," Jade could not stop herself from speaking out.
Her beautiful face drained out of color and she looked like a corpse. If she hadn't emptied her stomach a while ago she would have vomited inside his car.
Rather than slowing down, Tyler made it faster.
Jade knew that he was trying to piss her off. So, she shut her mouth and didn't make a comment even when she felt her heart was about to jump out of her chest.
'I married a crazy man' her mind screamed.
When they arrived at her apartment building, Jade hastily went out of the car and dry heave.
Tyler just stayed inside the car until she finished dry heaving.
She walked into the building hurriedly, and entirely ignored Tyler.
It wasn't difficult for Tyler to catch up with Jade, with his long slender legs he was able to catch up with her, in just a few strides he was walking side by side with her.
Jade reminded herself of the purpose in marrying this annoying man so she wouldn't explode in anger.
As they entered her apartment, Tyler wasn't surprised, the elegance and the simplicity of the apartment's interior design was like Jade. She wore no accessories, no make up, yet she looked exquisite.
Tyler shook his head. 'What on earth is happening to my head?'
Jade went straight to her room, took her laptop and put her earphone on both ears.
She better have to work with the mission so she could divorce this man and have her peaceful life back.
She started hacking. The earlier she could give the complete list of masterminds of the rebellion and their cohorts, the earlier she could divorce the man.
After a while when she didn't come out of her room, Tyler followed her and saw her concentrating on her mission. He silently took a chair to sit behind her.
Two hours later, Jade tied her long blond hair in a messy bun, exposing her sexy neck.
Tyler's gaze darkened while watching her slender and long finger delicately rubbing her neck.
He reached out to remove her earphone, just to make her remember that she wasn't alone in the room.
Jade suddenly remembered that Tyler came with her. She turned her head and came face to face with the man.
Their nose touched, making her face suffused with color. She stood abruptly to hide her blushing face but regretted doing it as her numb feet couldn't hold her weight making her pitch forward to Tyler and tumble down.
His quick reflex enabled him to protectively wrap his arm around her before they fell.
Still in daze, Jade leaned her head on his chest. The thundering of his chest took her out of her daze. And realized that she was lying on top of him.
Tyler looked down and was just in time to see her face turned bright red.
She rolled over from him and sat up, her back towards him.
"What are you doing here?" She asked, curbing her temper because she was tempted to kick him.
Tyler sat up and looked at her with an indecipherable gaze. "I was looking at how you do the hacking."
Jade took a deep breath before opening her mouth to speak. "You're scaring me to death. If I die, I couldn't finish my mission of helping you to know the moles in your ranks."
"You're exaggerating, no one dies being startled," Tyler stood and rearranged his disarrayed shirt as if he was in his military uniform.
Jade couldn't resist the urge to roll her eyes and gave into it. She stood after a minute and glanced at the clock on the bedside table and found it's already lunch time.
"Head back to the mansion to have lunch," she told him without looking at him and went out of the room. Tyler's face darkened. No one has ordered him what to do besides his superiors in the military. Jade was the first one who dared to it He exasperatedly followed Jade outside. He saw her going to the open plan kitchen and walked over to her. After taking out some ingredients from the fridge, Jade turned to the island and was surprised to see Tyler seated on the chair. "Why are you still here?" She asked, carefully suppressing the irritation she felt to seep through her voice. However, Tyler could hear her tone tinged with annoyance but he couldn't be bothered. He decided to annoy her to death. "I'm too lazy to drive," Tyler said leisurely watching her reaction. Blood rushed through her head, making her seeth in anger. She felt like throwing the ingredients to his face but held back her anger. She put down the ingredients on top of the island and turned around. This is absolu
Witnessing how her parents were killed, she grew up fearful and easily intimidated. Jade hugged her knees, regretting that she angered him. Her eyes burned with unshed tears turning her rims red. "I'm giving you an hour to do what you have to do," he ordered. Jade darted to her room not wasting a second. Her hands were shaking as she typed on her laptop. The woman's trembling figure somewhat pricked Tyler's conscience that he relented on lashing her verbally. Thirty minutes after Jade left him alone in the living room, Tyler's phone rang. He accepted the call, stood up and went to the floor to ceiling window overlooking the beautiful mountain scenery. "Hi," Tyler whispered. "Tyler, I heard you got married," Sophia cried at the end of the line. A crease formed between his brows as he knitted his eyebrows. "It's just on paper. I did it to have my inheritance." "Tyler, you said we are getting married after my contract here," Tyler could hear her voice like she was hyperven
Jade held her foot and gave it a massage before she got up from the bed. She bit her lower lip because of the pain, and walked towards the door dragging her left foot. "Where are you going?" Tyler asked indifferently."My luggage is in your car and I have to get an ice pack for my sprained ankle," Jade meekly said, Tyler pursed his lips. 'This woman doesn't want to ask for help. Stubborn!'Tyler pressed a button on the intercom. "Bring my wife's luggage up here and bring an ice pack as well." Goosebumps covered Jade's entire body upon hearing the word 'wife'. She froze and her feet were stuck on the floor. "Are you going to stand there forever?" Tyler said when she wasn't moving from where she stood. "You better rest your feet so you won't walk limping when we go back to the old mansion." Jade began to walk towards the couch and suddenly she was lifted from the floor. The suddenness of being lifted from the floor caused her to hug his neck in panic. Tyler froze as her soft bo
Jade couldn't find words to rebut him and remained silent. She can only blame herself. If she hadn't been careless she wouldn't have tripped and sprained her ankle. She held her peace and reluctantly allowed Tyler to give her sprained ankle a gentle massage while he applied the ointment. While Tyler was rubbing her ankle, she thought of ways to avoid situations like this.Jade was snapped back from her trance when she was suddenly lifted from the couch and was in his arms. "You…" Jade was cut back off when she heard the giggles coming from the maids. The maids were looking at them, apparently exhilarated watching the couple acting lovey dovey. Rather than protesting, Jade pursed her lips. To hide her embarrassed expression she looked down and her eyes landed in Tyler's neck. However, her fair and clear skin turned crimson red as her face heated up seeing Tyler's sexy Adam's apple rolling up and down. Contrary to what he had done a while ago, throwing her on the bed, Tyler gentl
It's time for Tyler to practice his acting skill again as they have arrived in the old mansion. He tucked Jade's hand in his arm as they walked towards the mansion. "Relax," Tyler whispered when he sensed that she was jittery. Envious eyes greeted Jade as they walked past the young women who had eyed Tyler as their prospective husband were either gritting their teeth or fisting their hands into a ball. Not even bothering to hide what they felt towards her and blatantly showed it. Jade felt tensed at the glare she was receiving from them but she managed to wear an indifferent expression."Tyler," a sultry voice called Tyler's name. Jade turned her had to look at the source of the sultry voice. A beautiful woman with a voluptuous body coming near them, wearing something that left nothing to the imagination, giving Tyler a suggestive smile. The urge to snigger was too strong to resist, albeit Jade maintained her indifferent expression. "Happy birthday," she said and hugged Tyler
Jade could feel the lingering heat on the jacket suit. She turned to look at the person who draped the jacket suit on her shoulder. Disappointment stung Jade's heart as she somehow thought that her husband came back for her. She bowed her head, as her eyes were expressing the disappointment and she was powerless to push it back. She didn't let her savior know what she was feeling right now. That would be ungrateful of her. "Drink this, so you could feel warm," Xerxes gave her the glass with brandy to Jade while she had her head lowered. Though she was shivering, Jade's heart felt warm at his gesture. Her prejudice against Xerxes was instantly changed. She misjudged this man. Jade looked up to the man and said with a warm smile. "Thank you, but I don't drink." Xerxes sighed. His jacket suit did only little to make her warm. She was soaking wet and it's mid - autumn. "But you will catch a cold. Drink a little just to warm your body." Jade shook her head and thought for a while. S
Since the party was organized to celebrate his birthday, Tyler had to go down to entertain his guests, so he left Jade alone in the room after he had dinner with her. Jade decided to sleep early as she has to have a morning shift in the hospital the following day. Though they are married, it was on paper only. As per agreement, they are not to sleep in the same bed. Hence, Jade took pillows and laid down on the couch. Jade is a good sleeper, she didn't have to struggle to sleep, soon enough after she laid her back on the couch she slept like a log. It was already midnight when Tyler returned to the room. As soon as he entered the room, his eyes searched for his wife but she wasn't on the bed. She was sleeping soundly on the couch like a baby. "You easily get scared but when you see someone in need you forget about your fear so just you could help," he mumbled at his sleeping wife as he sat on the coffee table. The lake was deep, rescuing a panicking person is dangerous as it wo
Jade felt her head spin and closed her eyes but opened it wide when she remembered her morning shift in the hospital. She bolted up from the bed only to land back on the bed when her head throbbed with pain and dizziness attacked. Laying flat on the bed, a low and attractive voice filled the expanse of the silent room. "Are you really a doctor? You don't even know how to take care of yourself when you're sick," was Tyler's sardonic remark. Opening her eyes, the man was towering over her while he stood beside the bed. He was already dressed in his military uniform which Jade deduced he was now reporting for duty. His hazel eyes were like the stars that hang in the sky shining in the dark were looking into Jade's blue eyes, like the vast ocean, shimmering under the sunlight. Their eyes locked for a fleeting moment before Jade looked in another direction avoiding his soul piercing gaze. Slowly, Jade sat up, but her next action was stopped when Tyler placed his hand on her shoulder,
