Chapter 1

I watched the clock as it struck midnight. I was eighteen. I waited for the excitement to settle in but I didn’t feel a thing.

There was nothing to be happy about. My life wasn’t going to magically change because I was eighteen.

It made me even more depressed because I knew I was going to be rejected by whoever my mate was when the time for my mating ceremony came, which would be soon.

I was the laughing stock of the pack, so nobody would want to be mated with me.

I turned my neck to the other side of the bed and glanced at my mother that was sleeping on the other side of the bed.

She looked peaceful as she slept. I didn’t know how she was going to react when I tell her that I was going to leave the pack.

I’m not staying back. If I get mated to someone and they accept me, then I will stay back and live with them.

If not, then I was going to leave the pack to the city. I've always wanted to continue my education after I graduate. I wanted to start a new life somewhere no one would look at me like an abomination.

I sighed, then rolled over to my other side.

My name is Andrea. Just plain Andrea with no middle or last name.

My mother gave birth to me as a result of a drunken one-night stand, and she didn’t even know my father’s name.

I was an abomination to the pack and everyone never failed to remind me of that. Especially the twins that were the sons of the Alpha of my pack.

They hated me for no reason. I was the first bastard ever born in this pack, so I guessed that was the reason they despised me.

I had attempted to run away and honestly, the only reason I’m not gone was because of my mother. She was facing her own share of problems in the pack.

She was exiled because she gave birth to a child out of the sacred mate bond. She gave birth to me in a rogue pack in the woods where she was tortured by them, because she didn’t fit it in.

We were werewolves and most of the people around us were lycans. My mother was a refugee that settled in the Shadow Moon pack after her old back was burnt down and defeated.

But after a while, the Lycan king brought us back to the pack out of pity when his father died. He saved our lives and was nicer to us than the rest of the Omegas.

He also gave us a job in the pack house, which was shocking because an abomination like us was not supposed to live anywhere near the pack.

“Andrea.” I heard someone whisper my name, and my senses immediately heightened.

I was confused at first, then rolled my eyes when I realized that it was one of the twins. What did they want now?

Earlier today, I received the beating of my life because they said I was a curse to the pack which was the reason that they haven’t found their mates yet after six months or turning eighteen.

God!

They were daft. How was it my fault when we weren’t even the same creatures?

They were superior to me because they were lycans and I was a werewolf. They had a heightened sense of smell, and could shift whenever they wanted unlike me who could only do so on the full moon.

The both of them looked so much alike, but I could differentiate them from their scent.

Lucas was the crown prince of the pack which meant that he was going to be the Alpha. His scent was different from his twin brother, Damon.

The reason I recognized them also was because Damon had a very devilish look. He was a psychopath that believed that any creature that wasn’t a lycan should be wiped out.

“Andrea,” The voice growled this time, so I rolled off my bed and headed towards the door.

I wondered why he didn’t barge in and just whipped me until I woke like they usually did. When I stepped out, I focused my sight in the dark and saw Damon standing at the threshold of my room.

There was a scowl on his face as he eyed me from head to toe, then shook his head.

“You just manage to look ugly every single time. Start wearing make up and stop subjecting us to the torture of seeing this turd of a face every single morning.” He hissed.

His words didn’t hurt me. I was used to them. He couldn’t go a day without insulting my face, which I knew wasn’t as bad as he said.

My mother complimented me. She said I was beautiful, and I believed I was beautiful even though the entire pack disagreed with it.

I have been voted as the ugliest and the most unattractive girl in our school for five years in a row now.

“What do you want?” I asked, trying to keep my tone as respectful as possible.

“I want water. Go and get some for me.”

I frowned, but then nodded. I didn’t know if he could see me in the dark, but I still resisted to stop myself from rolling my eyes because I knew what would come next.

He was closer to the kitchen than I was since it was along the hallway to my room.

“Okay,” I replied before I headed towards the kitchen.

Once I got there, I brought out a cold bottle of water from the fridge and headed back to my room to hand it to him when I found out he had already gone upstairs to their room.

What an asshole.

I rolled my eyes before I started to walk up the stairs. I was forbidden from using the elevator because of reasons unknown to me.

Just another example of the twins being wicked to me for no freaking reason. When I got to the floor where their room was, I pushed the door open and found them all lying on their individual beds.

They were all half dressed. Lucas, the crown prince was well built. He was so hot, and he didn’t hesitate to show it off. I could remember when he made me massage his back for the first time.

I felt like I was in heat for the rest of the day, even though I was too young to be in heat already. He was so incredibly hot. He was also incredibly wicked, which made me stay out of his lane.

I headed towards Damon’s bed and stretched my hand towards him.

“Your water,” I panted, my limbs still in pain from having to climb all those stairs to get to his room.

“You retard. Why will you bring me a cold bottle of water?” He hissed.

In my defense, I tried to explain to him how he always preferred cold water at night, but he cut me off before I could speak.

“I just wonder who the unfortunate person is that would get mated with you later today.” He scoffed, snatching the water from my hands.

“What?”

My jaw fell. I thought the mating ceremony was not for another two months.

“Oh, she doesn’t know?” Damon scoffed.

“I know,” I turned my neck to face him sharply. “I just didn’t know it was tonight.”

“Well, it is. You are listed to be the last person because you are a pathetic werewolf. I mean, even the universe agrees with that, which was why you had to be the last person that was given birth to in this year that would turn eighteen.” Damon said scornfully.

My heart started to pace. I knew my mating ceremony was coming soon, but heck I didn’t expect it to be this soon.

I thought I would have time to prepare for the worst, but I don’t. The worst was coming for me tonight. It scared me to the core.

Who was going to agree to get mated with me?

Will it be my mate or an older wolf?

The older ones even hated me more because of the way I was born. I bit my lip as I tried to steady my heart pace, knowing the twins were hearing how scared I was loud and clear.

“You sound like you’re running a fucking marathon. Just pray you get chosen and don’t end up like your prostitute of a mother, Andrea.” Damon snarled.

My chest clenched.

My knuckles whitened as I balled them into fists.

I have been insulted by him multiple times, but he has never insulted my mother. I never thought any of his insults were going to get to me this way, but somehow it did.

Because it was not targeted to me. It was my mother, who had served him without a single complaint all her life.

Oh, how I wanted to punch his stupid mouth until it was bloody.

I couldn’t stay in the room any longer. I needed to leave before I acted on impulse, which would result in me getting whipped at this late hour.

It certainly wasn’t how I wanted to remember my eighteenth birthday.

“Little Andrea is getting mature. See, she’s not bawling her eyes out after I insulted her useless mummy.”

I did a little bit of breathing exercise before I left the room, banging the door behind me. I blinked back the tears that were threatening to leave my eyes.

I was not weak anymore. I needed to stop behaving like I was weak. Since I was eighteen now, I would be accepted into another pack.

My mother just had to agree with it because I couldn’t spend the rest of my life here, with the twins abusing me at any chance they get.

Even if she didn’t agree, I was going to run away either way.

She had to understand that I didn’t have a life here. I needed to start a brand new one where I could start afresh without anyone treating me like an abomination.

When I got back downstairs, I headed back to our room. Once I was close enough to my bed, I laid down and took a deep breath in.

I couldn’t stop the tears that were leaving my eyes at that moment. I started to bawl uncontrollably, stifling my sniffs so I wouldn't wake my mother up.

My life couldn’t continue like this. I closed my eyes and made a wish, even though I didn’t have a candle to blow out and it never gets answered, but I still did anyway.

It was the same old wish I asked for every night of my birthday, to be far away from this pack that had shown me nothing but hell.

I wished I would wake up one day and this would just be a dream, and I would be princess of a powerful pack, and not an Omega in this pack that everyone was against me and my mother.
