Chapter 31

XANDER’S POV

‘I pretended to still be into you because I wanted you to leave me alone.’

A week later, those words haunted me even in my dreams. I had engaged in a fair share of stupid things but I never thought I was someone stupid enough to fall for false seduction. I never expected to be involved in false seduction, simple. Yet, now that I thought things through, the signs had been obvious.

She insisted she was done with me but out of nowhere, she was all over me again. Was I simply too ecstatic to doubt her or was it pride? I never wanted to believe she would toss me aside so when she rushed back into my arms, I thought she first pretended to have lost interest. My pride did not allow me to imagine she was faking her new interest.

“Is this what heartbreak feels like?” I muttered to myself, absentmindedly flipping through my handout.

“Hey, man, are you good?” I raised my head from my handout to see concerned gazes aimed at me.

“Huh?” I was so out of it, I did not know how
