After years of battling several illnesses, I died and woke up in a werewolf romance as a girl named Selene. It was uncertain what book I reincarnated into but as an avid reader of werewolf web novels, I knew the basic plot-line so I didn’t panic. From what I learned about my character, I was obsessed with the Alpha’s son and I bullied the women around him. I was ‘that’ woman; the one that stands between the Alpha and his abused omega mate and meets an unlucky end. All I had to do was sever ties with the Alpha and enjoy my new life so how did I end up in bed with him!? And why was the Alpha who was supposed to hate me following me around like a lost puppy? ** To Xander, Selene is nothing more than his best friend’s arrogant, stalker sister. He hates her but one day things change. After a night of shared passion, she begins to avoid him. At first, he believes it’s a new trick to get his attention and later, he thinks she used him for his body and he wants her attention back on him. Xander and Selene seem like a match made in heaven but they aren’t. When Xander meets his fated mate, Selene’s worst nightmare is confirmed. She’s grown attached. Xander is unwilling to let Selene go but how can he hold on when his destiny lies with another woman? Is the love between the two strong enough to resist destiny?

Chapter 1

Chapter 1

 “Who are you?”

My eyes blinked open in a familiar yet unfamiliar place. It was a room I had never been in before but it felt as if I had been here a hundred times. I must be dreaming.

Who are you?” The voice that woke me asked again so I looked around the familiar-unfamiliar room to find the owner but there was no one with me in the luxuriously decorated room.

Also, the voice seemed to come from my head, making me panic.

Is this a dream or did I die? Did this room with white walls decorated with abstract paintings, white sheets and a cloud-like bed represent heaven? Did my surgeon fail? The room was unlike the operating room which was the last place I remembered seeing so it was either a dream or the afterlife.

“This is not the afterlife and what do you mean by operating room?” The same voice that woke me up asked. It was a beautiful voice that filled my head but the way it echoed like the voice of my subconscious freaked me out.

Really, I was in a strange dream.

“Who the hell are you!?” The voice filling my head screamed this time and I winced.

“You too, who are you?” I screamed back but then I paused.

Wait a minute, did my voice always sound like this? The voice that came out of my mouth was the same voice that filled my head and it sounded nothing near my grating voice.

“I am your wolf,” the voice said. “Or at least, I am the wolf of the owner of this body. Who the hell are you?”

Wolf?

Oh, so it was that kind of dream. As an avid reader of werewolf romances, I had a lot of dreams about wolves and Alphas coming to sweep me off my feet. This one must be like that.

“What is your name, wolf?” I asked, getting out of the cloud-like bed.

“I asked first. Who are you!” The voice grumbled.

It was such a vivid dream that it appeared real. My feet touched the ground and I put them in the bunny slippers in front of me but first, I paused because the legs I had in this dream, rather than my pale, dried-up feet that could barely support my body, were strong and healthy to the point it made my eyes water. I had suffered so much that I was now dreaming of healthy feet!

This dream was a pleasant dream, a glorious dream even, if I ignored the freaky wolf voice, and as I walked around the large room, breathing in the faint scent of lavender, I felt even more convinced. There was no ache in my body as I moved around the room, no bitter taste on my tongue from medications and no bone-deep fatigue. Then I walked past a mirror, making me pause and retraced my steps.

“Is this wishful thinking?” I asked as I gazed at the girl in the mirror.

I was looking into a mirror but the person that stared back at me, rather than being pale and sickly, was a healthy girl with shiny blonde hair and sharp blue eyes. Rather than my thin and lifeless brown hair and tired, sunken eyes, I was looking at a supermodel.

“Did I ever want to be blonde?” I raised my hand to the shiny hair just as the door to the room opened and a strange guy walked in.

My mouth fell as the boy who looked like a celebrity entered. He had sun-kissed blonde hair almost as glorious as the one I just saw in the mirror coupled with mismatched eyes of grey and green. It was my first time seeing someone with heterochromia even in my dream so I stared until he gave me a nasty look.

“What are you looking at?” He asked with a sneer but gave me no time to respond. “Are you awake?” He asked. Even his voice was ethereal, like rich velvet but his tone made me frown. An unexplainable urge to whack him with a pillow filled me.

“Am I awake?” I asked back, ignoring the urge to do anything to this Adonis. “No, I am not,” I responded since I was in a dream.

“What? Who are you getting sarcastic with?” His thick brows furrowed and made him look even more handsome. “Why are you looking at me like that?” He asked just as the voice in my head exclaimed.

“Are you really admiring your older brother? This brat!?” The voice of the wolf filled my head.

“L - Looking at you like what?” I stuttered from surprise at the loud voice in my head.

“Weirdo,” he muttered and walked out without closing the door. “Mum wants to see you,” he exclaimed as he left.

My gaze went back to the mirror as he left. I could not believe I would have such a face even in my dreams. I only dreamt of being healthy but the person I became in my dream was the exact opposite of me with a face that could never be ignored. The face literally screamed 'Look at me!’

One time, I was on a medication that caused mild hallucinations but even then, I never dreamt of looking so good. I only saw zombies chasing me but now – this was even more vivid that my past hallucinations!

When I got tired of admiring the face I saw in the mirror, I remembered the guy from earlier mentioned a mother so I went out to see her. Soon, I would wake up to reality with my legs filled with needle holes and my hair falling out so I wanted to enjoy this dream.

It was an unfamiliar house but I knew the way around it because of dream power. I met a woman as I descended the stairs.

“Oh, honey, you are awake.” The woman looked just like me but with grey eyes.

“Are you my mother?” I asked and she paused to stare blankly at me but then she sighed.

“Honey, I know you are angry to be grounded but you totaled your dad’s car even though –“ I did not wait for her to finish her explanations as I launched myself into her arms and hugged her as tightly as I could.

She had a comforting scent like roses so I burrowed my face into her neck and hugged her tighter. I did not notice her freeze but when she raised her hand and stroked my hair, my throat tightened.

This was a wonderful dream. In most of my dreams, my mother was a woman with lifeless eyes who threw me away while murmuring about me not being worthy of love. Never had I had a warm hug from my mother.

“I want to stay like this forever,” I expressed my heartfelt desire without shame. “This is wonderful.” I did not want it to end but I pulled away from her and kissed her cheeks. Her eyes widened to the size of saucers.

“S - Selene, are you – are you okay?” The woman asked and I nodded with a big grin. Was my name Selene in this dream?

“As expected, having a mother is the best,” I said, beaming at the worry and care in her tone. It may be my imagination but her eyes watered.

The guy from earlier rounded the corner, pausing at the foot of the stairs when he saw us in an embrace.

“What are you two doing?” Incredulity leaked from his words.

He was holding the juiciest burger I had ever seen. It was beautiful to the point of being mouthwatering so I asked for some of it.

“Can I have a bite?” A pleasant dream would not be complete without eating delicious food but the boy shattered my expectations.

“No,” he said, shifting the burger to his side as if he wanted to hide it behind him.

“Ethan, don’t be selfish. Share with your sister.” The woman, our mother, said.

“No,” the annoying boy named Ethan opened his mouth like a whale and started to shove the burger in.

The woman with me sighed. I watched in shock as he devoured the burger in five bites but before I could even comment on that, my eyes shifted and my dream transformed into a nightmare.

“Oh my god!” I screamed, startling Ethan who started to choke on a mouthful of burger. “A beast!”

There was a wolf – if this huge thing be considered a wolf. No, there was a beast that looked like a wolf casually strolling into the house but this beast was at least twice the size of a normal wolf.

“What’s wrong with you?” I heard Ethan say but a cold sweat spread through my back and my lips trembled.

“There is a beast!” I continued to scream. The others were not the least bit fazed but my heart was in my throat and the beast was approaching with its devilish eyes fixated on me. “There is a beast, I say!” I pointed to the approaching wolf in case they could not see it.

“Selene, don’t point fingers at your father,” the woman said in a dry tone and then the wolf-like beast started to run towards us.

My weak heart could not handle it. My blood pressure spiked through the roof and my vision grew spotted right before I blacked out.

Chapter 2
It was a dream but when I woke up after seeing that beastly creature, I was still in the dream. This dream had become a nightmare and I wanted out as soon as possible but why did I open my eyes in this white room!? Why was I still in the soft cotton candy bed rather than my hard hospital bed?“Who are you?” The wolf voice in my head asked like a broken record. There was no emotion in the wolf’s tone but I felt its tiredness. Why could I feel what it did not mention? “It is because we are connected. We are one – or we are supposed to be. You are not supposed to be in this body. What did you do with Selene and who are you?”“I – I am Jane,” I said. “Who is Selene? What sort of dream is this?”“This is not a dream. What’s wrong with you? Why did you react like that to your father as if you have never seen a wolf before?” The wolf continued to grill me.“I haven’t,” I responded. “I only see wolves on television and a wolf that belongs in a horror movie, not my dream.”“I know you are not

Chapter 3
“All of you –“ I pointed my new fingers at the people in front of me – “Stay – stay away from me!”“Princess –“ Selene’s father spoke in a tone filled with so much anguish, you would think he was the one who just witnessed their death.“Oh god,” I found myself choking up, tears streaming down my face. Was I really dead? I had fought a long and hard fight. Even though I knew I could not live long or live like my peers, I still fought for the life I had. Even when breathing became a struggle, I did not want to die but the more I thought of it – the more I tried to wrap my head around the fact that I had died – it was too much and I ended up choking on my breath.“You are fine,” Selene’s mother said and though I pointed a threatening finger at all the people gathered in the room, warning them not to come closer, she came closer.“I said – I said to stay away.”Rather than staying away, she sat on the bed beside me and pulled me into a hug. I froze. “It’s okay, mama is here,” she hugged

Chapter 4
I was right to avoid the Alpha and anything that concerned him. The life I had was too precious to give up for anything.“Here, have some more meat,” my grandmother took food off her plate and put it in mine. My plate was heaped past the point I could handle but tears filled my eyes at such a loving gesture. Not only did I have parents, I also had grandparents! Check that out! My father’s parents heard that I had been unwell so they came the next morning to see me. My grandfather came lugging several bags of designer clothes and my grandmother baked my favorite pie. It was a blessed life.“My baby, are you hurt?” Tears filled my eyes just from all the love I was experiencing so right there in the dining room with my new family, I burst into tears. My grandparents both rushed to get out their handkerchiefs to wipe my tears. How could a person loved this much be a villain!?“I – I love you guys!” I exclaimed. The entire room went silent. Even Ethan who had been ignoring me as he stuffed

Chapter 5
When I opened my eyes the next morning, I was in an unfamiliar space and my head hurt. Once my eyes opened, memories of the previous night flooded into my head, making it hurt worse. I became a werewolf so why did I have a headache?A grunt came from beside me and I turned to see a man in bed with me. My eyes widened, my mouth fell open and a scream let loose.“Oh, my god!” I screamed, scrambling out of bed. My feet got tangled in the sheets and I ended up falling headfirst into the ground, slamming my nose.It was bad but it got worse when I realized I was naked. Then my world flipped on its axis when a confused face peered at me from atop the bed. Dark eyes and tousled black hair, a high bridge nose and red lips. They filled my vision and with time, the confusion in the eyes cleared, morphing into irritation and then anger. If I was not convinced I was in a book before, then I was now. This man with his finely chiseled jaw and flawless skin could only be fictional. There was no one

Chapter 6
Now that everything was settled, I had to find my way home but how? As I exited Xander’s room, I realized the pack house was not familiar to me, meaning the original Selene was not very familiar with the place.‘Grace,’ I whispered in my head for my wolf. ‘Grace!’ I exclaimed but there was no response. I groaned in annoyance, wondering what happened to the wolf.Thankfully, I found an elevator when I walked away from the room door. It was empty when I got in but two girls joined me on the next floor.“Good morning,” I greeted them as they kept sneaking glances at me.“Ah – G – good morning!” They chorused and then huddled away from me like I was an evil witch. I’d have been offended if I wasn’t tired to my bones.By the time I got out of the pack house, I was ready to crawl into my cloud-like bed and ignore the rest of the world. I knew my new body was pretty but the stares I got were uncomfortable as I walked out of the pack house. They made me feel as if I was wearing my clothes ins

Chapter 7
When I managed to calm myself after witnessing the state of my skin, I went to bed. I was so tired that I crashed till evening, only waking up when hunger threatened to cripple me. I joined my family for dinner and my father made sure to engage me in a drawn-out conversation while Ethan glared at me.After dinner, I went back to bed to sleep some more and when I woke up the next morning, it was at the crack of dawn. My lower back hurt as if I had engaged in rigorous physical activities. Yet again, I remembered that I fell into bed with the male lead and the bastard desecrated my skin.“I was right to stay away from such a bad guy.” What sort of crazy person marks someone so thoroughly? It was only about four a.m. but after sleeping the previous day away, I couldn’t find any sleep and I did not want to stay still. Confined to a hospital bed for years, I wanted to explore the world now. I got out of bed and brushed my teeth and while I brushed, my wolf announced her presence with a loud

Chapter 8
“Why are you turning your head? It’s nothing you haven’t seen before.” Xander laughed when I hurriedly turned my face away in shock from seeing him naked after his shift. Was this the plot forcing me on the same path as this guy even after I vowed to myself that I would avoid him? If I wasn’t in my wolf form, I would have cursed at him and then run away but at this point, my only option was to walk away without a word but he would not let me.“You’re cute,” a hand fell on my coat and I was scared his filth would rub off on my pristine white wolf so I shook off his hand. “You’re acting weird, Selene,” he muttered, a strangeness in his voice. “ “Shall we race?” He asked, squatting down to meet me at eye level. I turned my eyes away as I shook my head to decline his offer. Staying away from him did not involve racing with him so why would I do that?My mind set, I took a step back with every intent of returning to where I hung my clothes and ending my first run in this world but his nex

Chapter 9
In keeping with my promise to Grace that we’d get stronger, I found my way to the training grounds the next morning. I knew what having an Alpha wolf meant and it would be unwise of me not to build on that potential. Thus, I had to train. I’d never been strong before and now that I could be, I would take the chance. The training ground was located in an extensive field in one of the pack’s forests. There was an obstacle training section at the back, a small collection of weapons under a shade to the left, and a lot of free space where wolves were fighting each other, others boxing in their human forms and some practising the use of weapons. But when I entered, an amazing thing happened. It was like the arrival of an angel. Everyone paused and all eyes turned to me.So this was what it felt like to be popular, a queen bee. It was something I always read about but experiencing it firsthand made goosebumps rise on my skin. Although some people looked at me as if I was a bomb-wielding cra

“Don’t yell at her.” Ethan stepped between Xander and I. “And what are you all staring at? Get back to your training!” It was interesting how everyone moved, scrambling away as if the last person would be punished.“Ethan, this is between Selene and I. Move,” Xander said through gritted teeth.“As you can see, she’s in no place to be interrogated. I’m taking her home,” Ethan reached out to me but Xander slapped his hand away.“That was not a suggestion,” he said. “Go away.”“That’s my sister who’s hurt. I’m taking her home,” Ethan insisted. “That’s – fuck off. That’s a command,” Xander barked. There was a subtle war of nerves between the two but Ethan finally walked off with one last look at me. When he was gone, Xander turned to me with the full force of his burning gaze. I would have flinched away if I wasn’t drained to the point where even subtle movements were difficult.“You said you were done chasing after me,” he started. “Then explain this nonsense that just happened.” He spo
