Amara's POV

I woke to an unbearable, suffocating silence. My body heavy with pain, every muscle protesting as I tried to move. The sharp, sterile light of the hospital room made my head spin.

The physical pain I felt was nothing compared to the emotional wound,it felt like it would never heal—the loss of my child broke me.

I was alive but the child I had carried within me, the life I had nurtured, was gone.

My heart ached in ways I never thought possible, a deep emptiness that stretched to my very core.

I tried to sit up, but my body betrayed me, trembling with weakness. The fall had taken more than just my child; it had stolen pieces of me that I wasn’t sure I could ever get back.

Looking around, I found myself alone in the hospital room. The beeping of the machines were the only sounds I could hear, a steady reminder that I was alive, though I didn’t feel like it.

I swallowed the bitter taste of my grief and tried to push myself to my feet. My legs wobbled as I took a hesitant step toward the door, the desire to escape the suffocating walls of the sterile room overwhelming me.

But as I approached the door, I froze, hearing their voices—Lena and Darius. Their words sliced through the air with icy clarity. They stood just outside the door ,unaware that I could hear them.

“You have to make sure she’s really gone, Darius,” Lena’s voice was cold, detached. “She’s a liability. If she remembers anything that happened, it could ruin everything.”

I swallowed hard,I couldn't believe what I was hearing,my body almost gave out as the conversation sank in. They were plotting my death. They weren’t just trying to get rid of me,they planned on taking everything I owned over these years haven't I given them enough.

Darius’s voice followed, low and smooth, as though the idea was nothing more than a business transaction. “We can’t risk her waking up and ruining everything. She’s been a problem for too long. Once the insurance money comes through, we’ll be in the clear.”

A sickening wave of realization washed over me. They didn’t care about me at all. I had been nothing but a pawn to them, a means to an end. My heart ached even more, but there was no time for tears. I had to act.

I quietly stepped back from the door, my body still trembling with shock, but I forced myself to be still asleep as I quickly got back to the bed. I couldn’t let them know I was awake, not yet. Not while they still had the upper hand.

Laying on the bed, I closed my eyes pretending to be unconscious again, my heart hammering in my chest hoping they wouldn't notice. They couldn’t know that I had heard them. Not yet. I had to wait for the right moment to expose them.

A few minutes later, the door creaked open,Lena and Darius stepped inside. I could hear their voices now, muffled by the distance, but their footsteps were unmistakable. They thought I was still in a coma, completely unaware of my surroundings.

Lena moved closer, and I could feel her eyes on me, her gaze filled with false concern. I heard Darius’s low voice, the words too familiar, but this time, they were different. He wasn’t trying to comfort me—he was simply going through the motions.

“We’re so glad you’re still alive, Amara,” Lena whispered, her voice like honey, but I could hear the underlying bitterness. “You scared us.

I thought we were going to lose you,I knew she was just playing her script.

"you wish bitch”she whispered in my ear.

Her words felt like daggers, each one cutting deeper into my soul, but I kept my breathing slow and steady, feigning the unconsciousness they expected.

Then, the most gut-wrenching thing happened. Lena moved closer to Darius, her voice dropping to a hushed murmur.

I felt the room shift, the energy between them turning intimate. They didn't even care if I was in the room.

The sounds of their kiss, soft at first but growing heated, filled the room. My stomach twisted in revulsion as I imagined the two of them, sharing this moment over my broken body. They would pay for this.

I kept my eyes closed, forcing myself to stay perfectly still, even as the sounds grew louder, more desperate. I could hear the rustling of clothes, the soft gasps that echoed in the room.

Darius’s voice was low, almost breathless. “What do we tell her if she starts asking questions”

Lena’s laugh was a sharp, cold sound. “just tell her what she needs to hear Darius, after all you lived with her all this while,we’ll be fine.”

My blood ran cold and I realised I had given myself away for nothing, I couldn't wait to see them in action they are in for a surprise.

Listening to my husband cheat on me,their twisted moments together made me realise he never loved me I could hear Lena's moan the way he touched her and made her feel desired was something I never felt in this marriage.

After what felt like an eternity, the door finally opened, and the doctor entered, his presence a small blessing in the midst of this nightmare. He glanced around at Lena and Darius, who seemed to be lost in their world but had composed themselves upon hearing his knock before entering and then looked at me with kind eyes.

“Good to see you awake, Mrs. Carter,” he said, his voice warm but professional.

“The fall has left you with some memory loss, but it’s not uncommon but your bones are still recovering and are very weak. We’ll keep monitoring you for a while, but with rest and time, you should be able to regain most of your memories and your strength back”

Memory loss, that was a perfect excuse. and just the cover up I need.

I opened my eyes a bit more just enough for them to see, my face blank, feigning confusion. My hand trembled as I reached up to touch my forehead, playing the role to perfection.

“Lena…” My voice was weak, barely a whisper, but the hatred bubbling inside me was hard to suppress. I had to play this game. I couldn’t let them know that I knew. Not yet. “What… happened?”

“I don’t remember much…” I whispered, my voice shaky. “I don’t remember what happened… or the fall…”

Darius’s eyes softened with false sympathy, but there was a flicker of impatience in his expression. He didn’t want me to remember. He wanted me to stay as I was—weak, helpless, and unaware.

“It’s okay,” he said quickly, almost too eager. “Don’t worry about anything right now. Just rest. Everything’s going to be fine.”

But it wasn’t fine. It would never be fine, not until I had made them pay for everything they had done to me and the life they had taken.

“We’ll get through this together,” Darius said, his words hollow feigning affection.

I smiled weakly, pretending to be dazed, but inside, I was seething with the fury of everything I had lost.

The memory of my child, the betrayal from my best friend, my husband’s involvement in this horror—it was all too much to bear. But I had to keep pretending.

I had to make them believe they were still in control, until the moment I was ready to take it all back.

  • Survived Betrayal, Made My Ex-Husband Crawl   CHAPTER 44;TROUBLE FINDS ME

Leon’s POV The moment our eyes met, I knew exactly who he was. Alex Blackwood. Jesse’s boss. The shock nearly showed on my face, but years of surviving prison had taught me how to hide reactions quickly. I lowered my gaze almost immediately and forced myself to continue serving the table like nothing had happened. The timing couldn’t have been worse. The second I arrived in New York, I reached out to Jesse for help. We had known each other years ago, long before my life spiralled into disaster. Back then, we were reckless boys chasing trouble without understanding how cruel the world could become. What surprised me most was discovering that the inmate who helped me escape prison—Calum—was actually Jesse’s younger brother. Before disappearing, Calum had handed me a letter addressed to Jesse, explaining everything about my situation and warning him that my life was still in danger. By the time I reached New York, Jesse already knew who I was and why I needed help. That

Amara’s POVThe restaurant was breathtaking. Soft golden lights reflected against the elegant glass walls, and the quiet music playing in the background gave the entire place an intimate warmth I had never experienced before. Everything about it felt expensive, refined, and far beyond anything I was used to. Alex, on the other hand, looked completely at ease there. The moment we sat down, he ordered food for both of us without hesitation, clearly noticing I hadn’t eaten all day. My stomach embarrassingly betrayed me earlier in the car with a loud growl, and the amused look on his face afterwards nearly made me hide in shame. Thankfully, he only teased me lightly about it. We spent the next hour talking effortlessly, moving from casual jokes to deeper conversations so naturally it almost felt strange. Around Alex, silence never felt awkward. But at some point during dinner, I noticed his attention lingering on my necklace again. His expression had shifted slightly the mom

  • Survived Betrayal, Made My Ex-Husband Crawl   CHAPTER 42;THE WIFE HE OVERLOOKED

Elizabeth’s POV Ever since that night, William had started coming home earlier than usual. To my surprise, he also stopped disappearing into Nanny Vicky’s room and began sleeping beside me again without me having to say a single word. The sudden change amused me more than it should have. During dinner, I often caught him staring at me when he thought I wasn’t paying attention. His eyes would linger a little too long, almost like he was trying to figure me out—like he no longer knew the woman sitting across from him. And honestly? I found the entire situation hilarious. For years, William barely noticed my existence unless it benefited him. Now suddenly, after one night, he watched my every move like I carried some dangerous secret. Maybe I did. I lifted my wine glass slowly, pretending not to notice his gaze while inwardly enjoying the effect it had on him. The balance in our marriage had shifted, and William felt it, too. That was the interesting part. Men like

Alex’s POV The new auction house I acquired demanded most of my attention lately, but even with business piling up, I still hadn’t stopped searching for clues about the artwork I needed to find. Every lead seemed connected to another secret, another lie, and I was beginning to realize this mystery ran far deeper than I originally thought. Still, I had already done a good job baiting Rick into my game. Now, all I had to do was wait patiently for him to bite. Men like him always did when money and power were involved. Late last week, I received information that Amara would be leaving the country soon. Apparently, she had secured a collaboration with a well-known fashion brand to showcase her jewellery designs. Honestly, I was impressed. Most people would still be drowning in heartbreak after a divorce like hers, but instead, she was rebuilding herself from the ground up. There was something undeniably admirable about that kind of strength. And the fact that we were heading in

  • Survived Betrayal, Made My Ex-Husband Crawl   CHAPTER 40; BE SAFE

Lena’s POV I had finally moved into the mansion, yet the atmosphere still felt far from peaceful. Darius remained bitter about the divorce papers and the way I forced his hand into signing them, though there was little he could do about it now. What amused me most was how badly he tried to hide it. The constant phone calls. The late-night drinking. The way his expression darkened every time Amara’s name came up. He still wanted her back. Too bad for him… she was already gone. I sat in my office, absently flipping through documents when my secretary knocked softly before stepping inside. “Ms. Lena,” she said carefully, “Amara officially submitted her resignation letter to the board this morning.” My fingers stilled against the paper. “She resigned?” I repeated slowly. “Yes, ma’am. Effective immediately.” The room fell silent after she left. I leaned back in my chair, narrowing my eyes thoughtfully. Was Amara really walking away from everything that easily? No.

  • Survived Betrayal, Made My Ex-Husband Crawl   CHAPTER 39; FASHION WEEK

Amara’s POV Victoria messaged me early the next morning to let me know a driver was on the way to pick me up. The countdown to the fashion show had officially begun, and the pressure around the office was intense. Victoria had grown noticeably restless over the past few days, especially after her rival, Sophia, kept throwing subtle insults and challenges online. But this time, they were going to be shocked. I had spent nights perfecting the necklace piece for the collection, and for the first time in a long while, I felt genuinely confident in my work. When I arrived at the company, I paused outside Victoria’s office before knocking softly. Through the glass walls, I could see she had just wrapped up a meeting with several board members. Everyone inside looked polished, powerful, and intimidatingly comfortable in that world. Oddly enough, I felt out of place. The feeling unsettled me because I had spent years running my father’s company without ever doubting myself. But eve
