Chapter five

      Amelia helped me quickly get dress and throw my hair up into a messy bun since my hair was a bit hard to manage today. I applied light makeup then when I decided I didn't look like a hot mess we set off to find where Dominic had gone. I made the attempt to follow his scent but Zariah still wasn't back to full strength just yet. Was that why I had scars now? Granted scars were not uncommon for werewolves to have but normally we didn't get ones as bad as the one on my back now. We healed quickly sure but deep enough wounds still left a mark like with anyone.

    It didn't take us long though before we heard a crashing noise down the hall and saw two wolves slowly backing out of a room further down the hall. The one looked at us and shook his head as him and the other wolf left. I could hear Dominics voice and looked at Amelia. She nodded in a silent agreement to let me handle this. We approached the door and I peeked in and saw Xander and Rowan attempting to calm a very clearly angry Dominic down as he stood seething over a pile of what looked like papers, books and other various objects on the floor. I cleared my throat as I stood in the door and Rowan looked at me with sympathy while Xander looked mortified.

    "Luna, Sorry Kaydence, I don't think now is the greatest time let Dom calm down some." Before Xander could finish his sentence Dom crossed the room and scooped me up into a bear hug. I wrapped my arms around his neck and burried my face into the base of it along his collar bone. He kept one arm around my back carefully above where the scars were, as if he was afraid of hurting me more, and wraped the other arm below my butt to hold me up while he walked over to a chair and sat down, sitting me on his lap. We stayed like that for a few moments until I pulled my face away and looked up at him.

    "Are you alright?" I asked looking up into those beautiful golden eyes.

    "I should be asking you that." He said kissing my forehead. Xander and Rowan looked dumb founded and confused. He looked over at them. "As if I would ever let her see me that mad if I can help it." They both shrugged and nodded as if to say not only did they understand but agreed with him when it came to their own mates.

    "I'm fine. It doesn't hurt and I honestly didn't even realize I had them until Amelia said something." Rowan looked like he was going to say something then decided not to. I looked at him. "Rowan don't be afraid to speak, I'm not going to lash out at you for whatever you want to say." He looked at Dominic who gave him a look that just screamed tread carefully. I rolled my eyes at him.

    "Kay I am sorry but I would like to know what happened to cause the scars that Dominic told us about, I don't want to see them and if you're not comfortable sharing I understand." He looked down at the ground almost like he regretted asking. I sighed.

    "Well it was only a matter of time before Dom found out and I am sure the whole pack will eventually find out considering they may be visable from time to time."

    "My love you don't have to share yet if you're not ready to." Dom said cutting me off. I smiled at him.

    "I know I don't have to but you guys need to know. It will help you all understand why I need to save Deepridge from him. Amelia you can come in because you can testify for things he did outside of my knowledge." My best friend silently slid into the room. Xander looked startled, had none of them heard her outside the door? Maybe not since everyone wasn't exactly in the best mind set.

    "Before I let you go on my love have you eaten? Are you hungry or anything?" I kissed Doms cheek he was so caring and gentle with me it was adorable. Was Kyle like this with Amelia and I just never noticed it?

    "I did eat Amelia made sure of it however I could always go for more coffee but no offense to your kitchen staff I would rather get it elsewhere." Rowan snickered but quickly straightend up when Dom sent him a glare. 

    "I understand I will get you coffee from wherever you want on our way to the mall sound good?" I  nodded. "I have some cans of juice, bottles of water, cans of soda and I think still a bottle of milk in my mini fridge behind my desk if you want something." I shrugged.

    "Water is fine for now. I don't really drink milk." Xander handed me a bottle of water and I took a sip. 

    "Amelia, Rowan, Xander please sit and stop looming about, I am not going to lash out in front of Kaydence so you can calm down." Dominic said glancing at each one of them. Everyone quickly sat and I had to wonder if his friends feared or respected him to sit so quickly. 

   "Alright so everyone knows that Elstan is my ex and my first mate whom I rejected on my eighteenth birthday after all the shit he put me through right?" I needed to establish the basics because I wasn't sure what Xander and Rowan did and didn't know about me. They both nodded. "Ok so a couple weeks ago when I named my new beta and gamma he challenged me to the title of Alpha of Deepridge. I accepted because what other choice did I really have. He is the son of my fathers Gamma Dirge. The night of the challange I'm not sure why but he smelt off and was oddly stronger then he had ever been and much faster. Because of that I ended up loosing. I was sent straight to our jail house and practically starved. The scars occured when one of his punnishments for me refusing to submit to him was to lay on a bed of spikes for only an hour or two but he decided to leave me on it for a whole day. Our pack doctor attempted to treat me without Elstans permission and was jailed as well. Before I could even think straight I was stripped naked and dragged out to the woods and tied to a tree for several days. The entire time he had me injected with a serum to oppress my wolf almost completely. The entire time I was in the woods I was not given any food or water. After a couple days I was brought back to the pack house when I agreed to submit to him out of survival and basically concern for my friends because he threatened to kill off those who still supported me starting with Amelia. I was only working as a house slave for two days before Dom brought me home with you guys yesterday." Xander looked so heart broken at my words. Dom looked like he wanted to kill someone and I honestly couldn't blame him. Rowan was just in disbelief and Amelia looked solemn. I realized this was the first time she had heard everything from start to finnish.

    "I see. Amelia did Elstan do anything before Kaydence was brought back to the house?" She nodded.

    "He killed majority of the pack slaves, especially the ones who were set to become pack memebers this year. He killed our pack doctor that treated Kaydence in a public execution to set an example of what happened when we defied him. I think Kay may be right about him using some kind of substance to over power her because during training he would basically beat everyone to a pulp and talk down to everyone. He even made pregnant she wolves train, two of which lost their pups because of him. His so called chosen mate tried to escape once and he beat the shit out of her in front of pretty much the whole pack. He threatened both my mate, myself and our unborn pup. He would randomly lash out on people and according to him accidentally beat two children to death. The entire pack is terrified of him." My heart sank at how much my pack had truly suffered at his hands before Amelias words clicked in my head.

    "Wait back the fuck up unborn pup?" I asked looking at her. I could see Dom attempting not to smirk at the fact that I had chosen to focus on that. Amelia smiled.

    "We're finally expecting." She said gently laying a hand on her stomach. "We're finally making you an aunt." I leapt off Dominics lap and hugged my best friend tightly.

    "Oh my god how far?" I squealed.

    "Two months aparently." Dom cleared his throat and I gave him the finger.

    "Listen after the bullshit I had to deal with the past couple weeks you can give me five minuets to be happy for my best friend." He looked shocked that I had given him the finger, Rowan and Xander had similar expressions. Dominic adjusted himself in his seat and looked uncomfortable, like he didn't know how to act.

    "Kay it's ok we can talk about this later besides I want Kyle to be here too. He's out touring with Asher and Quaid looking for a spot for our new home."

    "So you guys are going to stay here permanently?" I asked excitedly.

    "Well yeah, my home is where ever the hell you are. You're my best friend and it's not like I'm married to someone of status really so I have every right to leave Deepridge and join you in Palecrest." She said with a shrug.

    "Damn now that is loyalty. I hope you show your mate the same kind of loyalty." Rowan said surprised. I rolled my eys at him. Amelia glared at him as I crossed the room and repositioned myself on Dominics lap. He kissed my forehead and I smiled at him.

    "Of course I do. However Kaydence and I have known each other since we were children, long before she met Dominic, Elstan or anyone for that manner. Well wait techinically Dom met her first because he was there for her welcome home party and first couple of birthdays. Still I was her first friend. Kyle didn't come in the picture until I was at least twelve. Although I love my mate more than anything Kaydence has literally always been by my side. Plus Kyle kinda swore loyalty to her as well after Elstan kept being a dick to her. He's her friend too. He's more of a go with the flow kind of guy though." Rowan just nodded.

    "Right back to the main discussion. Do the elders know of what he's doing?" Amelia shook her head.

    "Yes and know. He's all buddy buddy with one of the elders and from what Kyle has been told they chalked up all the deaths to a rouge attack and claimed that during this attack he found he second chance mate in a rouge she wolf." I looked at her confused.

    "I was told they met while they were in college." Amelia shook her head.

    "Not them, him. She's sixteen. i don't know if she is a rouge or not though it's hard to tell. She sorta smells like one but doesn't at the same time. Kyle and I have a feeling he kidnapped her from another pack or from a pack of rouges. He plans to make her a part of Deepridge pack by making her Luna and when she can't transform he plans to lie and say it's because shes caring a child." My heart ached for the poor girl.

    "So wait his chosen mate isn't even a willing person and she's under the age of eighteen? Isn't Elstan the same age as you guys?" Dominic asked. Amelia and I nodded.

    "That is so fucked up." Xander finally said. I nodded.

    "I'm sure we can all agree on that. Alright though lets get going we can talk more on what to do next later. Anymore talk of this asshole and I might just loose my temper again because I can't believe what he's been getting away with. Plus I promised my mate a trip to the mall which naturally I know entails bringing her best friend. Xander, Rowan one of you can come with the other find and go be with Kyle and start getting building plans." They both nodded and looked at one another.

    "I'll go find Kyle." Rowan said standing and stretching. Dominic nodded and looked at me.

    "Alright lets go my love." I nodded and stood up at the same time as Amelia which caused us to smile at each other. Today was not going how I had hoped it would but it would all work out I was sure. Dominic knew about what was going on at Deepridge, soon we would come up with a plan to rescue my pack hopefully and then I would have to figure out shit from there. The rest of today though I just wanted to have a good day with my best friend and my mate, I deserved that much after everything.
