Surviving my pack

    I must of dozed off at some point after talking to Dominic after leaving Deepridge pack territory because my mate was now gently shaking my knee to inform me we were home safely in Palecrest territory. My mate. The words sounded almost too good to be true. Looking over at Dominic though I was forced to realize this was my reality now. I would enjoy this for now but just because I was bannished from Deepridge didn't mean I didn't still have things to take care of there. 

    I glanced out the window of Dominics black Jeep and was happy to see the familiar territory that I had visited a handful of times with my family growing up. I glanced back at Dominic. He had changed a good bit since I last saw him. He was significantly taller obviously but he wasn't the awkward, lanky, kinda dorky looking boy I had grown up with. He was still slender but he had a good bit of muscle to him now. He still had the same golden brown eyes but the glasses were gone. Even the braces were gone. I just couldn't believe this was the same Dominic I had grown up with now.

     "Why do you keep staring at me?" He asked glancing at me sideways.

      "Do I really need to say it?" I asked looking away. I could feel the heat creeping into my cheeks, damn it.

     "I know I look a lot different now huh?" I just nodded.

     "Kay we've both changed. But look we're finally here. Everyone is going to be so ecstatic to know I have finally found my mate." He took my hand in his and kissed the back of it.

     "Dom about that. Could it maybe wait a day or two so that Amelia, Kyle and myself can get adjusted and I can have a proper private discussion with you." He raised an eye brow at me and a playful smile spread across his lips.

    "Baby girl I doubt we will be talking much in private any time soon. But I understand your wish to wait to introduce you to the pack and i will give you a couple days to adjust as you wish." I smiled up at him and felt a bit of guilt stab at me. I knew how he felt but was appreciative of his understanding.

     He pulled into a garage off to the side of the pack house, much like my pack had, and shut the Jeep off after making sure the other two vehicles pulled in as well. A few men came into the garage and Dominic greeted them as I slid out of his jeep. 

     "Quaid, Asher this is Kaydence, she is my mate." I slid my hand into Dominics and smiled at them.

    "Welcome home Alpha, Luna it is nice to meet you." Quaid said bowing his head in respect. I could hear the others getting out of their vehicles and chatting.

     "I'm not Luna yet so just call me Kaydence or Kay for now." Asher looked surprised but nodded.

     "Kaydence these are two of my best warriors. I take them along with me when I leave the terriory the most as personal guards I guess you could say. Guys we should head to my office we have a lot to talk about." Dominic said looking over his shoulder to our little travel group. Amelia looked uneasy and Kyle held her hand tightly. My heart ached for my best friend. The two men led the way followed by Dominic and I with Kyle and Amelia behind me. Dominics mother, Abby and Autumn excused themselves from the group leaving just Xander and Rowan behind Amelia and Kyle.

      As we made our way through the first floor of the pack house I saw a few pack members here and there. Some stared at us with curiousity and others seemed indifferent. It was a bit awkward for me so I just stayed close to Dominic who was so focused it was almost like he didn't even notice the others. That really didn't surprise me though considering I had a feeling there was a lot on his mind. Much like deepridge the Alpha quarters were on the top floor of the pack house and thankfully the pack house was more modern then Deepridge but also had an elevator going to the top floor. I felt exhausted emotionally and physically and was not in the mood to hike up several flights of stairs.

     Once we were all cramed into Dominics office which was larger then mine had been he sat down at his desk and motioned for me to come sit on his lap. I didn't hesitate and did as my mate asked. It didn't feel awkward but instead comforting.

     "Right so obviously Kyle and Amelia are new to the pack, they are currently without residence but we can change that. You guys are welcome to stay here in one of my guest rooms on this floor until then. I will let you guys be in charge of your home as we will have to have one built for you guys so naturally as my Beta Xander is in charge of all pack construction. When you guys are ready he'll take you guys to find a bit of land that you like and help you get started. Kay will obviously be living here with me, unless you'd rather I build a house for us my love." I looked at him and smiled. The thought of not living in the pack house had never occured to me.

     "Here is fine. I grew up in my pack house so naturally I have no desire to live outside of one." He nodded.

     "Very well, if there is anything you want made for you no matter what it is until you're adjusted to life here just ask my mom or Xander." I nodded.

     "Dominic this is all very kind of you but I don't think Amelia and I have enough money saved for building a house." Dominic laughed at Kyle and he looked a little confused.

     "Nonsense I never said anything about paying for it. Look you guys were exiled because of your closeness with my mate. She was exiled because she is mine and I will not allow my mate to be a slave to some dick head who clearly needs his head examined. You guys saved as much of her things as you could and I know how many risks you took. Consider it my way of saying thank you for being kind to her. Plus Amelia and I have known each other since we were children I consider her a friend so as a friend I never gave her a wedding present so it's late but here you go." I laid my head back on Dominics chest.

     "Dominic I can't possibly except a whole house as a wedding gift." He shrugged.

     "Fine so it's a wedding gift and my way of saying thank you for all that you have done for Kaydence up til now and for agreeing to be godmother to our first pup." Amelia blushed at the mention of mine and Dominics children and so did I. He was definitly going to get me in trouble with his mouth.

      "Very well but Kyle and I still need to work and still insist on putting some money towards the house." Dominic sighed.

      "Alright, I know I can't argue with you Amelia. Jobs wise Amelia I know you were working as Kays personal assistant. I would like for you to continue to do so since I know she is managing what six different businesses now?" Dom asked stroking my hair.

      "Three businesses one of which has twelve stores now." Amelia corrected. 

      "Impressive." Dom said still playing with my hair. "Still that plus her Luna duties will be a lot to take care of. Even if you do nothing and dick around all day with her I don't care. I will still compensate you as she was." I smiled up at him. 

      "You don't have to do that Dom." I said snuggling into him a little more.

      "But I want to. Now as for Kyle I know you were Gamma before, obviously I can not offer that to you. However I do have several businesses of my own. I have managment positions open at two of my security firms, one of my resturants, the jewelry store that my mother actually opened herself and one at a little startup tech store my cousin and I started. I can also offer you a position somewhere here in the pack territory if you prefer but they don't pay as high." Kyle looked at Amelia and thought for a moment.

      "Which job is closest to the territory." Dominic looked at Rowan.

       "I believe that would be the jewlery store. it's about a half hour or so from here." Rowan said. 

       "I know nothing about jewlery."Kyle said looking a little defeated.

       "Well what are you good at lets start there." Dominic said while repositioning me on his lap so I was curled up on him a little more.

       "Well I was working in construction with my dad as well as a mechanic for my cousin before Kaydence made me Gamma."

      "Well we only have one pack mechanic and I own two shops outside of our territory who could benefit from an extra hand. If that's what you would like to do." Kyle nodded. "Very well we will take care of that soon. For now take a few days to just relax and get adjusted. For now Asher, Quaid I want you two to gather a few people to help get Kyle and Amelia situated into my largest guest room and help bring my mates stuff to my suite. Kay looks like she's about to fall asleep." I nodded at my name. 

     "Yes Alpha." The two men left the room and Rowan and Xander followed. 

     "Kyle, Amelia if you two don't want to join my pack you don't have to. I will allow you to live here as allies though. The choice is yours." Amelia shook her head.

      "No I belong to whatever pack Kay does. I will become a member with her." Kyle nodded.

      "Obviously I refuse to be in a different pack then my wife." He said putting an arm around Amelias waist. I was so greatful for them both.

      "Then it's settled when Kay takes her place here in the pack so will you two. For now go a head and get settled in Xander and Rowan will take care of the rest. Come on baby." Dominic stood up and held me close to his chest.I allowed him to carry me even though I had enough energy still to walk. I just didn't want to argue with him. Instead I just closed my eyes and inhaled his scent allowing myself to become relaxed and drowsy.
