“I can’t carry your pups. Except you reject her. You will reject her this minute if you want an heir bad enough. She’s been watching us. She knows everything now.” Swara heard her twin negotiate with her fiancé. As the neglected daughter of the Lycan, Swara has been mistreated and tormented by her twin since she could breathe. She was not as gifted as her and she had a weak wolf. While her twin sister performed the roles of an Alpha’s son and went to war; there was no pack duty Swara could handle. Just claws and teeth but no action. Still, getting hurt and rejected later on by the only man who meant everything to her was heart-wrenching. Swara accepted her father’s order to leave the pack and study abroad. Unknown to her, some people wanted her gone for good. On the spur of the moment, she badged into the pack of the most dreaded and formidable Alpha, the ruthless lion that killed his father to usurp the throne.

“We can’t be together. Except you reject her,” my heart broke into a thousand pieces hearing those words from her mouth.
I transformed into my wolf form and ran to the deep forest so I could cry in solitude. I wasn’t crying because of what she said. But I knew his answer already.
He was nodding in acceptance to what she said.
“Rejecting her is the best thing to do. Her wolf is weak. She can’t be useful to you. Moreso, you love me more than you love her. You are only fated to her. Therefore, you think you owe her one. That’s where you are wrong.” I could still hear her voice in the distance.
FLASHBACK
Like every normal day, I awoke before dawn and resumed my usual routine. It was my duty to make sure the maids performed their duty while I took over kitchen duties. Father loves my cooking. But I think it’s fair enough for me to cook since that’s my only usefulness to my family.
It was mentally draining waking up early to supervise the stubborn maids. They had since lost respect for me but I try to keep them under control. I dare not report them to Father or else that further proves how useless I could be. To not manage the maids and command their respect was a foul shame. As for cooking, no matter how good the food tastes, my mum thinks the salt is either too much or the food is soggy. There’s nothing I can do perfectly – even cooking.
“Even your sister who has spent more time on the battlefield than in the kitchen can cook better than this,” my mum will lash at me.
Surely I was an adopted child even though it was clear Saloni and I were twins.
As the norm, I was brewing coffee for my family. They all like some cream. And a little more for Saloni.
I was barely finished when my dad snatched one from my hand. “You are too slow. I think I will have a cup before it turns cold.”
I said nothing as I brought their breakfast, accompanied by two maids to arrange and serve the dishes.
I served his portion and his eyes barely left the news he was watching on TV. I managed a smile but I got dismissed. “You’re obstructing my view. Get done with it already.”
I frowned and swallowed the pain I felt.
It was my birthday.
He had forgotten once again.
But at least, he could say thank you for breakfast.
Oh no, he didn’t but rather complained I had not added vegetables to his meal.
“Good morning, Daddy. How was your night?” I had been waiting for him to wish me. But that was never going to happen.
“Morning. Have you made your sister’s cabbage juice? She needs it for strength. She will be meeting with the court officials later today.”
My father spoke ruffly.
That was a dismissal to go about blending some juice for her.
I came back with a cup for her. She grabbed it and gulped the whole thing.
“That was a bit bland. No strawberry this time?” Her saucy tone boiled my anger.
“Daughter, you’re a bit forgetful these days. That’s how you forgot to pack my clothes and left them drenched in the rain,” my father supported his daughter.
“I’m sorry Dad. I told the laundry maid to do that. But she called in sick.”
“Such lame excuse.” Saloni snapped at me.
Though a few minutes older, she looked way younger than me.
We were unidentical. She was the beauty and I was the best-looking sister. But my heart said differently.
I was kind. She was vicious and virile. Must be from years of fighting alongside Daddy. While I softened my heart with kitchen bowls and cooking utensils.
She is a tall and athletic daughter. I’ve got a tiny petite frame with green eyes.
Hers was icy blue with long curly hair.
My brown hair barely rested on my neck.
I was no better than her in beauty and accolades. But I made up for it with character and curves. Just like my mother who gave up the ghost years later.
Saloni was my father’s lookalike. I was mummy’s girl. I miss her.
I’ve got a step-mum who detested me.
“Saloni, here is your birthday gift.” Father kissed her hand and pulled her to himself for a warm embrace.
“I’m proud of you dear. That’s why I got you this pair of boots.”
They were fashion boots. I loved them.
I smiled hoping I’d get a gift too.
But it was then Father remembered he had not wished me.
“Swara, happy birthday to you too. Kindly help your sister wear her boots. I want to see how good she looks on them.”
I blinked back at the tears that were already pooling in my eyes.
“Thank you, Daddy. I love the boots. They are so pretty.” Saloni couldn’t hide her excitement as she screamed and did a shoulder dance. She looked cute when she did that. I could barely move my hips. I was that stiff. Just like a robot. Unlike my flexible twin sister.
I helped her wear her boots. “You look good in those, Sis.” I tried not to be jealous of her as I smiled dryly.
But she ignored me and turned to face our father.
“I can’t wait for my birthday party tonight Dad. Everyone is going to wish they were your daughter.”
“Stop screaming and let’s eat our breakfast in peace.” My stepmom quieted her.
She was hostile to everyone except my dad. But she couldn’t go so far as to bully Daddy’s favourite daughter. I was bullied.
“Let her be, my dear. It’s her day.” Alpha Miles intervened.
“Daddy thank you for everything. I love you.”
“I love you too, Saloni. You are more than ten sons to me.”
“I love you too Daddy.” I chipped in.
“I know you do,” was my dad’s curt response.
“Are you going to stand there or bring me the soup bowl?” My stepmom snagged.
I hurried to the refrigerator to honour her request. She scrunched her nose in disgust.
“Not this soup bowl. It’s the groundnut soup I need. Don’t provoke me this morning.” Kenzie, my stepmom was beginning to bark at me.
I was distraught and unhappy. Every morning, there was one thing or the other to shout at me for.
It’s been like this since the day I lost my mother at four.
And a part of me wishes to disappear into the woods or travel abroad.
But I’ve got no money.
Father hardly gives me pocket money. I only continue to enslave myself for this family and I’m given peanuts.
No one sees me. I’m left alone to nurse my pain.
As soon as they were done with breakfast, I was then allowed to eat my breakfast. I took what was left in the breakfast bowl like a dog scraping crumbs.
I was still eating when they left the house for pack duties, leaving me to enjoy my birthday in the kitchen.
As soon as Kenzie left (my stepmom was always the last person to step out of the house), I sneaked out of the house into the woods.
I had a cave as a hideout. I transformed into my wolf and set up a fireplace in the cave.
In the cave were a few books on military war strategies. They were my favourites from my father’s collection.
I loved to escape time by reading books.
Somehow, my mind disappeared into the thought of my dad’s powerful wolf form. It was large and distinctively red with dark blue eyes like Saloni’s. In his human form, my dad had green eyes like me. It had a grand physique and a terrifying frame.
My sister’s wolf was pure white like mine but bigger and more aggressive. Though it was smaller in size, her wolf was strong and beautiful.
Mine was weak but smart. My wolf was graceful and elegant. I wished she was as strong as my sister’s.
In earlier years, I practised martial arts and swordsmanship, but my wolf was no match for such rigour.
I did a lot of mind and body training, but Kalani remained weak.
I had seen a wolf therapist in secret using my little life savings. But that didn’t help either.
That therapist had been Alpha Bram, my fated mate. We kicked it off well in the beginning. He is my kindred spirit and the only comfort to the family rejection I face.
He is the reason I don’t give up training my wolf to be strong.
He gave me the idea of mental training.
He had told me to let Kalani be and advised me to resort to my father’s books on military war strategies.
I’m happy to have met Alpha Bram.
We were dating in secret so his family wouldn’t find out he was dating a she-wolf who was weak.
We had planned to make our relationship open when my wolf became strong.
Today being my birthday, he had written to me to expect his call. I couldn’t visit him whenever I liked else people would suspect. Only when he called for me did I go to see him.
In the cave, I had some makeup and a beautiful dress he had bought for me hidden among a pile of rocks.
I applied some blush and lined my lips to taste. I looked in my mirror and felt pretty. Alpha Bram made me feel beautiful.
I changed into the green maxi dress that complimented my green eyes.
Alpha Bram always called me his emerald queen.
I couldn’t agree less.
After waiting till dusk and he didn’t call me, I grew worried.
I picked up the phone and dialled his number. But he wasn’t picking which was unusual.
I got out of the cave and ran home before anyone grew suspicious.
Alpha Reon’s POV“Swara!” I caught up with her at the temple. All through my traveling, I thought about her.I couldn’t be more glad we were alive to see each other after a series of painful events. She was taking a nap when I burst in; strangling my arms around her before she could fully wake up.“My Lady, I’ve missed you!” I hugged her even tighter.Still, in a half-sleepy state, she wondered if I was the one.“Last I heard of you, you were in prison.” She yawned like a cute puppy.“All I had to do was think about you till I got out.” I peered at her angelic eyes; enjoying the way they looked at me. Absence surely makes the heart go fonder.“Come here.” She drew me in for her hug. I melted in her soothing embrace.Never had a hug felt so nice.“First time you are being this romantic with me.” I teased her.“How you always tease me.” She rolled her eyes and disentangled from my embrace.“I heard what you did. What were you thinking giving your golden sceptre to Kenzie?” I scolded her
Alpha Miles POV“Noooo!’ I ran to meet my dying wife. The wife of my youth.Even though she deserved death, I wanted to punish her myself. As I ran to hold her in my arms; I saw my daughter crash to the ground.“Saloni!”She had been fighting with Dragon. Relentless and with everything in her. While this fight seemed like easy feet for Dragon, it was not so for my daughter. She was about to give in anytime soon.Just before I could reach her, the rogue leader putting on a Dragon mask sliced her neck in one flick of his sword.I was too in shock to move.“Saloni!!!” I screamed her name to wake up. Tears hugged my cheeks like a river. It was then I noticed Dragon take on a familiar opponent. The man who had struck my wife. Brian! That was Brian! As he swerved his sword in the air, he unmasked the Dragon with his sword. And more shock awaited me.“Jeff!” That was my son! I could recognise him in one glance.Much had not changed about him except his broad shoulders and mature look.I das
Kenzie's POVWith my bleeding situation, I ran to the interior of the Pinewood forest to recuperate.Getting some fresh gliricidia leaves and datura metal, I treated myself. When I felt a bit okay, I mindlinked the rogue pack I was affiliated with.I needed to find that bitch’s father/ But that wasn’t the priority on my list.I had something else planned out.In no time, the rogue leader by the code name Dragon answered my call via the mind link.Whenever we met, he always wore a mask to hide his identity.“I need to see you. Are you at the rogue mountain?” I inquired.“We are at the uphill valley.” He responded. “Get your men ready before I arrive.” I ordered. He obeyed my every whim.He was the leader of the rogue pack, but submissive to me. He served me with due diligence and was responsible for helping me steal gold from the Emperor Alpha. As soon as I got to the uphill valley, I already met about a thousand men waiting at my command. It was easy to address them from the hilly pa
Swara's POV“My Lady, the woman whom you told me about is approaching our territory.” Clara informed me.“Thank you. You are dismissed. Go find me the doctor.”She curtsied and left to carry out my order.I was still at the temple for my safety. Ever since the incident of Lena attacking me, I had not gone back to the house ever since. And Clara had been the one serving me faithfully at the temple.Lena.When I remember how she almost ended my life with her knife. Thank goodness that was in the past. But her bad karma was haunting me in the form of my step mum - seeking me out to ask about Brian.I was well aware Kenzie would be on her way now. To find out if it’s true that BRIAN wrote to her. Telling her to be present at my fake burial.Without further ado, I sent out Clara to let me know when she arrives at the borders of Green Pack territory. I had presented her with a painting of Kenzie and knowing she could come in guise, I could trust Clara to recognise her regardless of being s
Alpha Miles POVPRESENT“From then on, Ambrose stayed with us till she delivered the baby. That’s when we found out she was pregnant with you and your twin sister.” I told Saloni who seemed to have been intrigued by my story.“Oh, that explains why I’m the favoured one.”“When the DNA test was carried out, only yours matched mine. I didn’t spare Brian. He was exiled and sent to prison in a foreign land where he’d be there for life! And even when he came back to New Moon, I had him sent back there by framing him for Commander Keith's crime.""Oh, I remember Commander Keith. The one who wanted to be with another man's wife. He had him killed by staying at the frontline of battle." I recalled."But rumour has it that he bribed his way out of prison. So now, he roams about like an ex-con." My daughter didn't believe he was dead either. One who was locked up in prison so many times must have outstood prison death."You are right. As of then, even the Noron faction couldn’t save him when th
Alpha Miles POV“Your Majesty! I had not expected you to honour me this way. Who am I that you’d visit?” I exclaimed, alarmed that Emperor Alpha himself came visiting.Initially, I thought it was Ambrose. Sooner or later, I’d have her live with us in the next quarters. Let me see how she wants to sneak a man into my abode. For fear he might impregnate her before I did, I’d have her kept away from him. Though I strongly believed she was already pregnant for me by the goddess. But now things were getting complicated. When Kenzie showed me that clip, it broke my heart to see she went into another man that same day. Even if she despised me so much, she could have waited. Not that same day.Fear began to grip my heart. Was this part of Brian’s brilliant plan to alienate me from the throne? I know he couldn’t confront me physically. But he was good at strategizing and patient until he hit his target.“Have your seat, sire.” I ushered Emperor Alpha to a comfy seat nearby. Why was he here? I
Kenzie’s POVI was still bent on seeing Ambrose that day even after a furious fuck session with my husband. That didn’t ease my mind one bit that she may steal him from me with her forthcoming baby.Miles wasn’t happy about the fact that I didn’t want to cuddle. But he understood. If he needed to enjoy my vulnerability in bed, I needed to satiate my curiosity. I had shared my man with two women now. And it was no easy feat/ My sister could do greater damage, not minding we are family.I didn’t trust her enough to just want to make a baby with my man.Of course, she must have enjoyed having him that close to her.“See you soon babe.” I smacked his bare ass on the bed as I left.“Fuck you as soon as you return.” He retorted, still in the afterglow of our just concluded lovemaking ride.I took out my car keys and headed to Ambrose’s place only to meet an empty apartment.Well since I had it in mind to see Brian too; I decided to head to his place.I wanted to know his state of mind towar
Alpha Miles POVI got to her villa as soon as I could, only for Kenzie to give me the cold shoulder. Acting strange, angry, and in a world of her own.” I’m coming from the execution ground. Ariel has been beheaded.” I mentioned elevating her mood. But she didn’t even look up from the book she was reading. So I continued. “I didn’t stay too long with Ambrose today. We wrapped things up and I was summoned to stop Jeff. Can you believe he barged in with my men using the Command seal I gave to him?” I ended with a question to arouse her interest, but nothing piqued her attention.“How did you find it?” She stood against the door, plummeting trouble.“What do you mean?” I acted ignorant.“Seeing you relay other events except one thing shows that sleeping with my sister wasn’t that a big deal, huh?” She sounded dismissive.“Stop acting like I had a choice in this matter.” I defended. Then decided to take it easy on her, knowing she must have been hurting. “I’m sorry but this was forced upo
Alpha Miles’ POVI got back from the execution ground just in time to stop Jeff.He was able to command the Royal Soldiers – about 1000 of them so he could release his mum. In anger, I didn’t hesitate to slash his right arm with my sword to stop him from proceeding. As soon as the royal soldiers saw me, they became afraid and retreated. Without mincing words, I scolded him. Promising to ground him in his quarters and retrieve the Command seal in his possession. As an Alpha heir and not wanting him to feel too bad about losing his mother, I wanted to show him I trusted him by giving him a part of me in the form of that Command seal. And here he was, abusing that opportunity.“Are you aware that if Emperor Alpha got wind of this, you will be beheaded? How can you act so foolish!”“I do not care about the consequences of my action. I’d accept any punishment Father gives me.” My son kowtowed to me.“Foolish son of mine!” I was still boiling with rage. “Hand over the Command seal in your p
