I watched her leave with that curse she had adored.

Eryx shadows clinging to her like death reborn.

My wolf thrashed in me, a feeling I had to restrain.

I wanted to drag her back, to lock her where she would be safe.

I wanted to bury his throat, to stamp on the Vernon he was touched with. But an Alpha didn’t act on impulse

An Alpha doesn’t grieve and let his emotions capture the serenity. No, an Alpha restrains and thinks.

Build the blocks step by step and plan.

I am that Alpha, I wasn’t like that before, and only acted at the east journey, taking the route of the already made, but not anymore… I was determined to behave like an Alpha, a leader and that would be done strategically.

I went back inside, and just like I had imagined, words had spread round the pack.

They had known of the accursed, of the child should never be.

I turned to the pack, their eyes restless,lips drawn back over teeth. They were restless and hungry for condemnation.

“She shouldn’t be alive, the boy smells wrong, the Alpha has lost his mind”

Words echoed through each corner and who could blame them, I agreed to everything they said.

All but Eva’s resurrection is a contradiction, Yes I had lost my mind, yes the boy was wrong, but Eva. She was the victim.

Their doubt was poison, and Astra was the one who had fed it.

Ofcourse!. Astra that deceitful beta wolf.

I saw her roaring the crowd, quickly I rushed to grab her throat, pushing her with my strength into the chambers.

The pack had witnessed this, and a sudden silence now filled louder.

Good. I was getting deaf by their rants.

“Let go of me” Astra said, my grip was not tight enough for her, because she still lashed her mouth.

“You knew” I said to her, anger increasing as I tightened my fingers around her throat.

“Knew what?” She asked, oh that clueless manipulative acting, what a wrench.

“About the boy, about her death, speak or I’ll spill your throats before the pack” I hailed, fangs visible and growling.

She laughed, that scorning laugh I had always hated,breathless and trembling under the weight of me.

“Always so dramatic Kael, you want the truth?”

She said she was rage baiting me.

“Eva was never meant to be Luna, and so I corrected it, she was weak and I gave her child away to men who could use him, men who could shape him”

My world narrowed into a thin red line, this was the end of my patience. I pressed harder, digging my claw in her jaws

“You fed her child to Rogues?”

“Don’t act so innocent, you were the first to reject her”

She said breathing for air.

“You chose me, not her, don’t blame me for your decisions which you country control”

She said, I was angry now, not at her but with myself. She was right, if only I had chosen her seven years ago, if only I had loved her the way I promised too, she wouldn’t have died.

But I did it because I was protecting her, my family planted a curse within me, anyone who mates with me and bore a child would die. That was why I let her go, not knowing that our love was already spewing inside of her.

I had blamed myself for all those years, thinking it was because of my destiny which I entrapped her in, but!… it wasn’t destiny it was treachery, planned by this demonic spirit named Astra.

“You forget you are hanging on your life” I said, rage clashing through my blood, my veins popped out with every last anger I had with me. I had the intent to kill her here and now.

“Let’s talk this through Kael, release me” she said, still fighting for her life.

What an impossible task that was.

“Get to experience to, players should know how to play the game” Since she was a murderer, why couldn’t I seek Justice for Eva and do the same to her.

An eye for an eye, and an Astra for an Eva.

“Lucien.. he..”

Lucien?, did I hear wrong?.

Did she just have the effrontery to call the name of my brother?”

“What about him!” I yelled, loud enough for the pack to howl in unison.

“His in danger, Eva put him in danger”.She said;

What a silly way to escape death by feeding on more lies.

How did my brother and Eva even connect?

Lucien was my younger brother, we had lost contact on a trip to deliver an errand our father, the previous Alpha gave.

I was young but old enough to understand the world, Lucien on the other hand was young and we somehow got lost beneath the lands.

Another disadvantage of anyone coming near me, he was gone because of my carelessness and I had not heard any word from him, I don’t even know if he was alive or dead.

I released my grip on her intrigued on what she had to say, or what lies she planned to escape with.

She choked, gasping for air, trying to hold in and breathe.

I could see the fear and the trauma I had on her, it was only the beginning.

“You psychopath”. She cursed, but I didn’t release her to listen to her sharp mouth ravel”

“You better speak while you still have a soul in you” I said to her.

“Lucien, your brother… Eva took him”

I thrawled at her once more, shaking her shoulders.

“What sort of sorcery is this?” She was so jealous of Eva that she was spilling unjustified lies at her.

Eva never knew my brother, she never even knew of his existence.

“I’m not lying Kael, I don’t know the whole story, but I know that Eva was the cause of something… If only I could pinpoint what that was”.
