Chapter 7

The gates swept open as guards came in, I heard the words loud and clear.

“A child, with features of Kael and my eyes”

That was my child!.

I rushed inwardly to the guards with disbelief and hope at the same time. Their eyes wavered at my presence, fidgeting in fear, heads bent below and I would say I loved every bit of it.

“Luna your grace” One of the guards uttered such discreet words.

Luna ?… do they now yield to me because they saw the second option was their flesh getting torn ?

“Hold your tracks, I was never your Luna, more like your sacrifice” I spat at them, each word holding truce, they shivered at the sound of my voice and I continued the interrogative torture.

“I did not walk up here to see your fake royalties, answer as I speak, what child did you see ?”

Silence for some seconds before a bolder one summoned courage to answer, eyes still facing beneath the ground.

“A child, a male child born with the Lord Alpha features but his eyes took a resemblance to yours”.

“Direct me to this child” I said, this was it, I was going to get my child back.

As they were about to leave. Astra,that foul entity came in front of me to block me

Oh she dares, she still has guts I see.

“Would you move now, or would you rather have your tail plunged out?”. I said bitterly in every word.

Yes, I was bitter, a bitterness they had shaped out of me.

“You cannot go, I know you hate me, it goes both ways”She said, and I could feel her confidence drop as she talked down with her hands.

“But, what if this was a trap ?… your smart Eva.. all of a sudden, this child, this boy comes out of nowhere and how sure are you he wasn’t sent ?”. She said… and I wondered how desperate she was.

One thing was for sure, I will never trust her, it was better to check than to fall for her tricks so she could have enough time to capture him.

“This child ?…he is my child !, and since when did you care about my welfare, or are you plotting once more to take what I hold so dear ?” I said, and I could see through those devil brown eyes, she was scheming as the cunning wolf she is.

“I care about the pact, I won’t let a tainted thing come between my pact” She said, and I swore it took all the restraint I had to not gauge her eyes”

I had only here her say the word “pact”, that was a wonderful synonym for “my selfish self”.

“I give you 5 seconds to dismantle from my presence, or I’ll treat your mutt how to behave”. I said and I meant it…I counted the seconds aloud and once it counted to 5, fear gulped her, she retreated.

I left with the guards, Kael and Astra behind,following.

Minutes later as we arrived at the opening, I saw him.

I had replayed this moment in my head ,haunted by dreams and now my child, my boy was finally reuniting with me.

I ran to hug him but I stuttered in my tracks, my wolf had gnarled at me, as if warning me to step back.

“We finally meet mother” His voice was sharp, polite to a fault, I could smell the venom in him, and it took a lot of examination to accept if this wasn’t a plan just like Astra had warned.

I hate to admit she was right, but something about him spelled danger.

“Why do you falter in your tracks ?” He asked, as if he could read my mind, he was lean with muscles, looked like he was between the ages of 10-11, but his aura was so demanding, so articulate, so plotful.

“Come child,tell me your name” I finally said, curse or not, this was my long lost baby, I knew it was him, because I felt a thread finally being cut in me.

“Eryx “He said, he had his fathers reflex and dominance, but had my calm soul… and they still wished he was taken from me!

“Eryx,you a wolf forged in silence” I said delicately.

He bowed politely and then turned to face Kael, his undeserving father.

“You must be his Lord Alpha” he said respectfully.

“And you are my heir” Kael sang in honor, what a wasted man he was, unworthy of my son.

“And yet you abandoned me” he said.

Now that is my son.

The air swelled with heavy ruins, a flicker of control and brutality stormed.

Kael didn’t have a word to answer, how could he?… the guilt in him had settled, but there was no excuse to make up for me forgiving him.

“You heard the boy,” I said.

Astra stepped in,it would be so much better if she just kept quiet

“Where did you come from” She asked, judging him from crown to toe.

“You must be his replacement, tell me Luna, does the crown weigh heavier when it’s stolen? “. I couldn’t help but laugh, it was clear he was my blood, his sharp tongue proved that.

“My word, ” I said.

“Don’t speak unless I allow you” he said to me.

What?…challenging me?

“You were taught to mock me ?” I said, because there was no way my wolf was right, it was better to denial it than to accept that this boy could be a threat to me.

“I was taught to kill you” He commented as hazy as the weather .

“But mocking you sounds easier, ” he continued.

I stepped so close, I could see the war between hatred and something else flicker in his gaze.

He was my boy alright, but my soon to be enemy.

“I have one purpose mother, and it ends with a draw of your blood”

For the first time after my resurrection,I had felt the meaning of fear.
