The Silver Moon Pack's main hall was filled with tension as Damon stood at the head of the table, his expression grim. The pack council was meeting to discuss the recent vampire attacks, but it was clear that there was something else on their minds.

"Alpha King," one of the council members said, his voice trembling. "We have concerns about your leadership."

Damon's jaw tightened. "What concerns?"

"You rejected your fated mate," another council member said. "And now you are considering a marriage with a vampire. This is not the behavior of a strong alpha."

Damon's eyes narrowed. "My personal life is none of your business. I am still the Alpha King, and I will lead this pack as I see fit."

"But what about the pack?" the first council member asked. "What about our traditions?"

"Our traditions are important," Damon said. "But we live in a changing world. We must adapt if we are to survive."

"Adapt? By marrying a vampire?" the second council member scoffed. "That is not adaptation. That is betrayal."

Damon stood up, his voice rising. "I have led this pack for ten years. I have protected you, provided for you, and kept you safe. And this is how you repay me? By questioning my leadership?"

The council members fell silent, but Damon could see the dissent in their eyes. They were unhappy with his decision to reject Elara, and they were even more unhappy with his consideration of Victoria's proposal.

Just then, the door burst open, and Elara walked in. She had heard the commotion and had come to see what was happening.

"What is going on here?" she asked.

"The council is questioning my leadership," Damon said, his voice tight.

Elara looked at the council members, her eyes filled with anger. "You should be ashamed of yourselves. Damon has led this pack with honor and courage. He has protected us from vampires, from rogues, from all manner of threats. And you question his leadership because of a personal decision?"

The council members shifted uncomfortably in their seats. They had not expected Elara to defend Damon, especially after he had rejected her.

"Elara is right," Marcus said, speaking up for the first time. "Damon has been a strong leader. We should not question his leadership because of his personal choices."

The council members looked at Marcus, surprised. He was Damon's beta, and his support carried weight.

"Thank you, Marcus," Damon said.

But Elara could not help but remember Alexander's accusation. Was Marcus really a traitor? Could he be working with Viktor?

"The vampire attacks are increasing," Elara said, changing the subject. "We should be focusing on that, not on Damon's personal life."

The council members nodded, and the meeting continued. But Elara could feel the tension in the room, the dissent that was growing among the pack.

After the meeting, Damon pulled Elara aside. "Thank you for defending me," he said.

Elara smiled. "You are my alpha. It is my duty to defend you."

Damon's eyes softened. "You are more than just a pack member to me, Elara."

Elara's heart skipped a beat. Was Damon finally starting to see her as more than just an omega?

"I know," she said.

Later that night, Elara met with Alexander. He handed her a USB drive. "This contains the proof you asked for," he said.

Elara inserted the drive into her computer and began to watch the videos. They showed Marcus meeting with Viktor, discussing the destruction of the Silver Moon Pack. They showed Marcus giving Viktor information about the pack's weaknesses, about Elara's parents.

Elara felt her heart break. Marcus was a traitor. He had helped Viktor kill her parents, and he was still working with him.

"I cannot believe it," she said, her voice trembling.

"I told you," Alexander said. "Marcus is not who he seems."

Elara looked at him. "What do we do now?"

"We need to tell Damon," Alexander said. "But we need to be careful. Marcus is his closest friend. He will not believe us without proof."

Elara nodded. She knew Damon would be devastated by this news. Marcus had been his friend since childhood, his most trusted advisor. But she had to tell him. The pack was in danger.

The next day, Elara went to see Damon. She found him in his office, reviewing reports.

"Damon, we need to talk," she said.

Damon looked up, his expression concerned. "What is it?"

Elara handed him the USB drive. "This contains proof that Marcus is a traitor. He is working with Viktor."

Damon's eyes widened. "That is impossible. Marcus has been my friend since we were boys. He would never betray me."

"Watch the videos," Elara said.

Damon inserted the drive into his computer and began to watch. His face grew pale as he saw Marcus meeting with Viktor, as he heard Marcus discussing the destruction of the pack.

"No," he said, his voice trembling. "This cannot be true."

"I am sorry, Damon," Elara said. "But it is true."

Damon buried his face in his hands. "I cannot believe it. I trusted him."

Elara sat down beside him and put her hand on his shoulder. "I know. But we need to do something. He is still working with Viktor."

Damon looked up, his eyes filled with rage. "I will confront him. I will make him pay for what he has done."

Elara shook her head. "You cannot do it alone. He is dangerous."

"I have to," Damon said. "He betrayed me. He betrayed the pack."

Elara knew she could not stop him. Damon was a proud alpha, and he would not let Marcus's betrayal go unpunished.

That night, Damon called Marcus to his office. Elara waited outside, listening.

"Marcus, we need to talk," Damon said.

"What is it, Damon?" Marcus asked.

"I know what you have done," Damon said. "I know you are working with Viktor."

There was a long silence. "How did you find out?"

"Elara gave me proof," Damon said. "Videos of you meeting with Viktor."

"I had no choice, Damon," Marcus said. "Viktor threatened my family."

"You should have come to me," Damon said. "I would have protected your family."

"I did not think you could," Marcus said. "Viktor is too powerful."

Damon's voice rose. "You betrayed me. You betrayed the pack. And you helped Viktor kill Elara's parents."

"I am sorry, Damon," Marcus said. "I never meant to hurt anyone."

"Sorry is not enough," Damon said. "You will be exiled from the pack. If you ever set foot on pack territory again, you will be killed."

Marcus was silent for a moment. "I understand."

Elara heard Marcus leave the office. She walked in to find Damon sitting at his desk, his face pale.

"Are you okay?" she asked.

Damon shook his head. "I cannot believe he betrayed me."

Elara sat down beside him and put her arm around him. "I know. But you made the right decision."

Damon looked at her, his eyes filled with gratitude. "Thank you, Elara. I could not have done this without you."

Elara smiled. "I am always here for you."

And in that moment, Elara knew that their bond was stronger than ever. Despite the rejection, despite the pain, they were still connected. They were still fated mates.

But she also knew that the danger was far from over. Viktor was still out there, and he was still planning to destroy the Silver Moon Pack. And now that Marcus was gone, they needed to find a new beta, someone they could trust.

But for now, Elara was just glad that Damon was safe. She was glad that they had exposed Marcus's betrayal before it was too late. And she was glad that their bond was growing stronger with each passing day.
