Chapter 15

Melissa sighed in her mind. No matter how Alex tried to mask his emotion, she knew him too well.

Kristen smiled confidently and even before Melissa could say a word, he said, "We are expecting a baby soon, so she has to avoid alcohol for sometime."

Alex froze on his seat. He clenched his fist and grinded on his teeth.

Kristen was a bloody bastard.

Alex shot Melissa a surprise look. How could she be expecting a baby and a happy relationship when she ruined his life.

Kristen's explanation got everyone on the table smiling, except Alex of course.

Kristen glanced at Melissa and gave her hand a squeeze under the table, making her smile a bit.

No one on that table suspected that anything was wrong.

Melissa wasn't the least comfortable and that was because Alex was on the same table. His eyes kept monitoring hers and she discovered that each time she looked at him, his eyes stayed on hers.

The air couldn't be more akward for Melissa even though Kristen couldn't understand.
