Chapter Fifty-five

Roy held his breath until Bryan left the room and as soon as he had gone, he jumped from the bed and grabbed his wallet.

He wasn’t even sure if he had enough bills in it,’ he acknowledged ruefully, but he’d sort himself out later, he had to get away.

Ignoring the sounds of voices he imagined came from the sitting room, he raced along the hall to where he hoped the backdoor was.

With any luck, he would be out of the building, and disappear before Bryan realized he had no intention of remaining at the mansion until he grew bored of him.

But as he pushed the door open, he was surprised to see that it burst open into a home theatre, groaning when he threw his wallet across the room in frustration.

With a muttered curse, he fled across the room to retrieve his wallet, his heart sinking at the sound of Bryan’s voice.

“There you are—I thought you were going to come to talk to my mother," Bryan drawled, his eyes narrowing when Roy gasped at the sight of him.
