KIARA'S POV
I gripped the sheets so tight the moment he thrust deep into me.
To hell with the moon goddess.
“Arghh….”
The sound escaped my lips before I could stop it.
To hell with mate bonds and coven rules. I turned twenty-three today and still haven't gotten mated.
I tried to keep clean….I really tried but not anymore.
I was aware. That was the embarrassing part. Not fully drunk, maybe two drinks past sober, which was just enough to make a terrible decision feel like the most logical thing in the world.
I knew exactly what I was doing.
And I love it.
The wet sound of kisses filled my ears but not on my lips, lol but my fucking lower lips.
Argh…..he was so good.
His cold lips on my neck and I forgot what spells were.
Who the fuck was he? He didn't smell like a witch ... .or a wol ....” argh…. please.”
I couldn't help but moan the moment his cold lips hit my nips.
My magic.
It was moving on its own.
Reading him the way it did when I encountered something unfamiliar, tendrils of quiet power sliding beneath his skin trying to pull back a species.
Not a witch.
Whatever he was, he carried none of the markers I knew. No coven signature. No spell residue. No lunar trace that matched anything in my….
“Please…..”
I woke up to cold sheets and an empty room.
He left…
I lay there for exactly four seconds staring at the ceiling of a hotel room I didn't book, in a bed that still smelled like cedar.
and had a very mature internal conversation with myself.
‘You,’ thought, ‘are an idiot.’
A powerful idiot. A witch with three generations of coven blood in her veins and enough spell work to level a building. But an idiot nonetheless.
I sat up. The room was expensive, with dark walls, heavy curtains, No note. No number. Not even the courtesy of a name scrawled on the hotel notepad.
At least he paid for the booking.
I pressed my fingers to my neck where his mouth had been and felt…. nothing.
My spells reached out, searching for whatever it had been trying to classify last night, and came back empty.
Whatever he was, he was good at disappearing.
I didn't know his name.
He didn't know mine.
Perfect.
Definitely going to find one of the spells to shut my fucking womb.
The Volkron Coven was forty minutes away and I had exactly twenty three minutes before the morning bell rang and my absence became everyone's business.
Gripping my shoes in my hands, I immediately covered my face in a veil…
With one leg in the castle grind and the other holding on to a stone a quick jump should help.
And there, I handed it to my butt.
“Who's there?”
Fuck.
Speeding through the grass I got to the hostel room and the first person I met who's not supposed to be awake by this time was.
Emma .
“Where have you been? Lady seraphine sent for you an hour ago…I was already going to pretend to be you.”
“...and do a double rotation?”
“ I should be asking you that, quickly go and dress up.” Emma pulled me in…wrapping the rotation concealed veil on me.
It was my day today to swear on my unborn babies to Seraphine.
At every twenty third annual age hit…
It's a norm, I was sworn here too.
The moment I got to Seraphine chambers her voice broke out of the half opened door.
I have to thing for listening to gossips….I mean I know Camila vale fucks girls.
The walls has a special kind of ears and I have one.
“We could have saved her."
I didn't breathe… held my breath to listen, wasn't sure why I was doing this…or there's just something about the tone.
“You may be right, my lady. There were difficulties that night…"
"I didn't want to save her." Seraphine's voice. Unmistakable, that particular flatness, that cold precision she wore like a second skin.
"She took everything from me. My title. My standing, my child, everything."
“But my lady, you couldn't have managed everything alone, she was only her nanny, you are still her real mother.”
Seraphine has a child? For whom?
“I didn't need to manage anything."
I heard Movement. Seraphine's heels against the marble tiles "I went in before the fire spread. I made sure of it. I stabbed her, directly on her spine.”
My hand went cold on the door.
"Coral Wilton was already dying when the building went up."
The world tilted.
Coral? Coral my Mama?
“What if she finds out about my lady?”
“You are the only soul I have spoken this to…just you, and of course I don't trust you with this secret.”
“My lady, I promise to keep it, with my life.”
“Yes you will.”
“My lady please, please don't do this, I swear to the moon and back….”
I heard it so loudly ... .the sound of a knife digging in and out.
My chest beat so hard my legs wobbled as my mind went blank. My veil slipped out of my finger.
I couldn't…I couldn't help but hold my breath, my presence must not be noticed but I couldn't help the tears from pouring out of my eyes….
The night I had spent three years mourning was an accident.
Not an accident.
“Kiara.”
The door swung open.
“You're awake."
“Ye…yes my lady.” I immediately covered my head with the veil, making sure my tears weren't seen.
I have no spell greater than Seraphine to kill her…I wrapped my hands in a tight fist holding back the spell I was struggling to cast.
She killed my mama.
She made me an orphan.
The moment I got to the ritual circle, Seraphine began to cast the spell for the rotation, concealed
The moment the spell came in I knocked it with all the spells I could form and watch it bounce back….
Then hit Seraphine directly at her chest…
“Kiara !!!!”
Kiara’s POV“ROWAN!”I tried to run toward him.Kael grabbed me around the waist.“Kiara, wait!”“Let me go!”My son was standing only a few feet away.Alive.Unhurt.But something was wrong. His silver eyes were glowing so brightly that I could barely look at them.Seraphine stood behind him.And beside her was the creature wearing my sister’s face. The creature smiled at me.“Come closer, Kiara.”I froze.Seraphine laughed softly.“Don’t.”Her voice was calm.“She wants you to.”I looked at her.“You have my son.”“Not yet.”I frowned.“What does that mean?”Seraphine placed one hand on Rowan’s shoulder.“He came willingly.”My heart shattered.“No.”Rowan looked at me.“Mommy…”His voice was tiny.Normal.My baby.I took one step forward.“Rowan, come to Mommy.”He moved.Seraphine’s hand tightened.Rowan stopped.I felt my magic rising.“Take your hand off my son.”Seraphine smiled.“Or what?”“I’ll kill you.”She laughed.“You’ve threatened me before.”“Then you know I’m capable
Kiara’s POVThe moment Chloe stepped into the room, every instinct in me screamed to run.But I couldn’t.Not because I was afraid of Chloe.Because the creature wearing my face was still sitting inside the old cradle. Two enemies. Two identical smiles. And somewhere outside this room, my son was screaming.“Where is Rowan?” I demanded.Chloe’s eyes moved toward me.“Still asking the wrong question.”“Then give me the right one.”She smiled.“Ask yourself why the creature wants you to believe she’s your sister.”I turned toward the creature. Its face shifted again. My face disappeared. Then my sister’s face returned.Silver hair.Silver eyes. The crescent mark.“Don’t listen to her,” the creature said.Chloe laughed.“You still don’t understand.”“Enough!”Magic burst from my hands. The force slammed Chloe against the wall. She grunted but smiled.“You’re stronger.”I walked toward her.“What did you do to Rowan?”“Nothing.”“Where is he?”“Safe.”“Where?”Chloe tilted her head.“With
Kiara’s POVFor several seconds, I couldn’t speak.I simply stared at Kael.He took four. And then his words repeated inside my head. One of them was you.My stomach twisted.“No.”Kael didn’t move.“Kiara—”“No.”I shook my head.“That’s impossible.”“I wish it was.”I stepped backward.“You told me your father experimented on Guardian children.”“I didn’t know everything.”“You knew enough.”His jaw tightened.“I found the records after he died.”“How many records?”“Four.”My heart stopped.“Four children?”Kael nodded.“Four Guardian children.”I looked toward the nursery.Rowan was missing.Ryder was still sleeping. And somewhere inside the pack, a baby was crying.A baby that shouldn’t have existed.“Tell me everything.”Kael hesitated.“Now.”He took a breath.“My father believed Guardian blood could control the Gate. He searched for children who carried the strongest traces of Guardian magic.”“And he found four?”“Yes.”“Who were they?”His eyes met mine.“The first was a boy
Kiara’s POVI didn’t sleep that night.I couldn’t.Every time I closed my eyes, I heard Seraphine’s voice. This is your mind. And every time I opened them, I remembered Rowan’s words. She’s inside Mommy.I sat beside the twins’ bed, staring at my sleeping sons.Ryder slept peacefully.Rowan didn’t.He kept moving.Turning from one side to another. His tiny hands opened and closed as if he was fighting something in his sleep.I reached toward him. Before I could touch him, Kael caught my wrist.“Don’t.”I looked at him.“Why?”“Because we don’t know what will happen.”I pulled my hand away.“He is my son.”“I know.”“Then don’t stop me from comforting him.”Kael sighed.“I’m not trying to stop you.”He looked exhausted.“Kiara, something is happening to you.”My heart tightened.“I know.”“No.”He shook his head.“You don’t understand.”He crouched in front of me.“Since Chloe appeared, you’ve been seeing things.”“Because Seraphine is attacking my mind.”“Exactly.”“And?”Kael’s eyes
Kiara’s POVI had never run that fast in my life.Kael was beside me, his hand tightly wrapped around mine as we raced toward the pack house. The moment we entered the compound, I knew something was wrong. There were no guards outside. No warriors patrolling the entrance. No sounds of the pack.Nothing.It was too quiet.“Where is everyone?” I whispered.Kael didn’t answer. His wolf was already awake.“Stay behind me.”We rushed inside.“Rowan!”I ran toward the nursery. The door was open.My heart stopped. The crib was empty.“No.”I stumbled forward.“Rowan!”Kael grabbed Ryder’s crib.Ryder was there. But Rowan was gone.I turned around desperately.“Where is my son?”Kael’s face went pale.“Kiara…”“Where is he?”“I don’t know.”I pushed past him.“Find him!”Kael immediately shifted his attention toward the hallway.“Everyone search the house!”His voice thundered through the pack.Within seconds, warriors rushed inside.“Check every room!”“Search the grounds!”“Lock the gates!”
Kiara’s POVI hadn’t slept. Not after what happened at the Gate. Not after hearing the voice. You found me. Now find the other two. Those words had followed me all night.I sat beside the twins’ crib, watching Rowan and Ryder sleep. They looked so peaceful. So innocent. It was almost impossible to believe that something so dark could be connected to them.Rowan shifted in his sleep.I immediately leaned forward.“Baby?”His little face relaxed again.I exhaled.Eleven months. They were only eleven months old. They shouldn’t have been carrying prophecies. They shouldn’t have been connected to ancient Gates. They shouldn’t have been hunted by witches. They should have been crawling around the pack, pulling at my clothes and laughing when Kael chased them. But instead, the world seemed determined to make them something else.I reached through the bars and gently touched Rowan’s hand. His fingers closed around mine. Then suddenly—I felt it.A cold sensation traveled through my palm.I pu
KIARA’S POVThis trip was never ending. It felt like we had been driving for days and I was getting really tired of it. One day was like the other. We would stop at gas stations, drive on highways and stay in motels that smelled like dust. All of this was for one person. Kael.We almost found Kael
KIARA’S POV Chloe, wait what do you mean ?…. What is the doctor trying to say?… I’m pregnant with twins? I mean how is a one night stand supposed to get me pregnant even after I used a protection spell on myself not to get pregnant and now I’m actually pregnant with not just one but two freaki
KAEL'S POVNothing has felt more important to me than the event four months ago. The elder was still talking.I stopped listening approximately six minutes ago.Twelve seats. Twelve men. Eleven of them were sweating through expensive suits trying to convince me that their proposal was worth my tim
KIARA'S POVIf anyone had told me there would be a day I would run so hard for my life, from the place I call home I would have run a sharp blade through their gut.“Stop her..” I couldn't hear her voice from behind me, desperate and shameless.
